method man
Do you guys think that Eubanks will make the team as the dime guy next year? The reason I am asking is that Portis said that Eubanks makes plays all the time in practice. We activated him for the last game of the season and cut Rumph. I think that the coaching staff wanted to get a good look at him in a game to evaluate him. I think if the coaches decide to go into next year with Eubanks as the dime guy, then Wright won't be back. God, it would be sweet to finally groom our own UDFA
The Brave Little Toaster Oven
Sounds like Taylor Jacobs, hopefully he can actually make plays when it counts

Until then, he was on the practice squad.
kevinklein
I didn't know we cut Rumph...
LoudMouth12thMan
Wright is our Nickel DB, and we don't technically have a "dime" package that I'm aware of. I think you mean the 4th CB spot which was Ade Jimoh's spot this year. I realize we put packages in with 4 or more DB's at times, but I don't think Wright would get replaced as a Nickel DB IMO. He's pretty solid at that position. HTTR

Wright must go because we need a NB who is a solid starter. I'm hoping for a guy like Nick Harper or Ricky Manning Jr or even Springs. Eubanks could specialize in covering speedy slot guys as he is a smaller corner.
Kurd Cudins
Right now our CB situation is this: Shawn Springs Carlos Rogers Leigh Torrence John Eubanks Wright and Jimoh are free agents. Eubanks has a very good chance of at least being the #5 CB next year. or perhaps another year on the practice squad(although Portis' praise could draw some unwanted attention). From what I have read Torrence is an athletic guy who was a very good gunner in college. I see him competing with Ade Jimoh for that gunner spot on special teams. Whoever wins that competition will be the no. 5 corner. Meanwhile, I am hoping we sign Rod Hood so that Rogers and him are the starters and the aging Springs is our NB (allows him to blitz more also, which he is good at). My hope is that Eubanks makes the team as the no. 4 cornerback. Because Springs is losing quickness with age, I think Eubanks could cover the quicker slot guys like Crayton and Tyree.
