I want him. He might not be cheap, but he'd be cheaper than Clements. I hope we can get one of the two, but I would be very pleased if we landed this guy. He can flat out cover his man. If he can play in Belichick's schemes, I have no doubt that he will be able to play for Williams.

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

Did you miss my prior post in this thread? Have you not paid any attention to the players who have left New England in the last several years? Do you not have a soul? This guy is going to be just like every other sack of **** who's left New England in the last several years.... A TOTAL BUST!!!! Do the names David Patten and Christian Fauria not register in your mind? Just like those two worthless wastes of flesh and oxygen, Samuel will be a huge bust. Especially once he's got the big $$$$.

Why do skins fans think they can get anyone they want. Samuel will never sign with the skins. He loves the patriots, especially if they are making it to the playoffs and winning superbowls, if his contract ends after this season then NE will definetly sign him, he is just reaching his prime with a season like this. Samuel will not be seen in a skins uniform.

Mass SkinsFan, there is no correlation between David Patten, Christian Fauria and A. Samuel. Outside of Patten and Fauria and Samuel playing on the same team Patten and Fauria are old and were never top producers on their team. Samuel is one of the best in the league. Not only can he cover, but he can also catch. He would be an awesome fit.

portis, get something through your head right now.... The New England Patriots will NOT pay market value for ANYONE whose name isn't Tom Brady or Richard Seymour. They've proven that time and again. If Samuel isn't willing to give New England a SIGNIFICANT "home town" discount and wants to get his market value in Free Agency (yes he's a free agent at the end of the year and will not be franchised); it's going to be from some team other than the Patriots.

I do hope that you're right about him not coming to Washington.

First off, that's the only correlation needed to prove to me that none of them are worth anything, Mania. So far as I'm concerned they sold their souls to Satan by putting that Patriots uniform on to begin with. At that point they DIED so far as I'm concerned. I've gone so far as to comment that I'd enjoy seeing Patten and Fauria injured because of the team they used to play for.

Patten actually WAS a major producer on a couple of those Patriots teams. Fauria was a huge part of their Red Zone offense as well. Samuel, like everyone else on that team in the last half decade, is a product of the SYSTEM in New England. A system that I've repeatedly commented on finding NO redeeming value in.

Ty Law has played very well outside of NE. He was a premier CB at NE, and he continued to play well for the jets and the chiefs. Patten was never a premier player, so what did you expect from him? He was their 3rd/4th string receiver - did you really expect him to save this team? He is a solid receiver, but this team has not used him properly. The blame there falls on the skins, not patten. As for Fauria, he was injured and old, not much you can do about that. Samuel is a league leading player, and there is no reason to think he can't play well with the redskins. Your argument really doesn't hold any water.

Oh, and Branch has played well for the Seahawks. I don't know where you got the idea that there is some curse over the pats players, but it is nothing short of hysteria. They have good players, mediocre players, and bad players. Their good players have gone on to succeed on other teams. Samuel is one of their good players.

hey portis2nice6 - CHILL OUT!! Us skins fans don't think we can get anyone we want in Free Agency.

Every team has certain needs and puts together a wish list. The skins have a need for 3 positions in free agency, DE, CB & MLB. We all know that the skins will agressively pursue the available FAs in the positions they deem a need and have a pretty impressive track record of attaining the players they go after. Even if the player is not a fit like AA they will get their man.

Ty Law is about the only exception to this concept. Even he hasn't exactly been a Huge star since leaving New England.

David Patten hasn't earned a single penny of whatever portion of the $13 Million dollars the Redskins gave him. He hasn't done a God Damn thing for this team except cash paychecks. The only time I've cheered him is when it was announced he was going on IR last year. I'd have cheered louder if they'd said his carrer was over. Fauria never should have been signed either, for obvious reasons. Samuels is just another System player from a team whose system is so disgusting to me that it has no redeeming value. If we sign him, I will root for a career ending injury to him, just as I do for Patten and Fauria.

Branch has not played anywhere near what the Seahawks gave up for him OR paid him, never mind BOTH.

It's not a curse on Patriots players. It's the fact that the entire franchise is based on a system of mediocrity and socialism. They take worthless players and have found a way to tweak that into "success" in this ****ed up, gutless, immoral system that the NFL currently runs by. With the exception of Ty Law, no player who has left New England during this recent stretch of "success" has done ANYTHING of value after leaving the team. That should tell you something.

gaines adams in draft, great pass rusher, like dwight freeney, but better vs the run (obviously it will take a year or 2 before he produces like freeney)

Too small for us. We already have a speed rusher.

Jamaal Anderson, DE Arkansas. There is the pick.

I know it might sound a bit reactionary, but having a guy who has a tattoo saying "Get Payed" and who publicly scoffs at his team's offer (I'm sure it sucked knowing the Pats but it is still a bit boorish) could be a recipe for disaster. He sounds like a guy just out to get a paycheck. I know many FAs are like that, but some want money and want to play as hard as they can to make their new team better. He sounds like he could potentially be a defensive Brandon Lloyd. I don't know what sort of person Clements is but he might be a better fit for the system since he has worked under GW before. Clements might cost more, but probably not that much more since Samuel is having a great contract year. Besides, Pats players are always a major toss up since they are so good at taking mediocre talent and making it look great in their system. I like Smoot but I'm not sure he really has a place here. He isn't a #1 corner and we have plenty of depth for Nickel packages, etc. Someone mentioned getting Ryan Clark back here...is that actually possible? I thought he signed a multi-year deal. He would be worth having back at Safety simply for team chemistry reasons.
