Number5
Okay....so it's 11:26 AM in the City That Loves To Hate You and the weather is a breezy 53 degrees. Before I start off, I want to offer my sincere condolenses to Tony Romo sits to pee. Son, you killed your teams season....and it couldn't happen to a better guy! Today, the NFC East Champion Philadelphia Eagles face of against their arch nemesis NY Football Giants in the final game of Wild Card weeked. With the spread sitting at 7 points, many people are expecting the Eagles to win, but word out of Gotham has the Giants offense has a few wrinkles that are designed to make the blitz happy Eagles pay..... The party is getting ready to start......so bring a couple beers and your football conversation..... So calling WB36, Who Del, Pocono, EL, Bama Man, N24, McOwns, Tom, and everyone else who cares about today.... Use this thread to talk about the game before the game.....and more importantly, why the _______ will beat the _______....... Stats are welcome....but not needed! And for my Eagles fans, you had better be fired up....so if you don't end your post with a E-A-G-L-E-S....EAGLES....then you ain't ready! You aren't worthy of a BRIAN DAWKINS flex, or a TROTTER axe....or even an ANDREWS spike! Now all together...E-A-G-L-E-S....EAGLES! (Philadelphia Eagles ATN Pregame is brought to you by the wonderful folks at EXTREMESKINS.com, where HOMERISM LIVES, but REDSKINS RULE!) See, I can show respect too! twenty-eight
My first thought when Romo sits to pee blew the hold was that Reid is a genius. He signed Koy for that EXACT reason. Eagles are gonna crush the once overrated drama queens. Edit: Oh yeah...and happy 4,500 to me:) just came across this @pft.com POSTED 10:16 a.m. EST; UPDATED 11:29 a.m. EST, January 7, 2007 REID ALREADY LOOKS LIKE A GENIUS Plenty of eyebrows were raised this week in Philly when the Eagles re-signed quarterback Koy Detmer for one purpose. To hold for field goal and extra point attempts. But in the wake of Saturday night's game-losing muff by Cowboys holder Tony Romo sits to pee, Eagles coach Andy Reid already looks like a genius. Still, if starting quarterback Jeff Garcia goes down with an injury early on Sunday, Reid could still be wearing a dunce cap. Why? Because Detmer must be listed as the No. 2 quarterback in order to enable him to enter the game as the holder. And if the emergency quarterback, A.J. Feely, enters the game at any time before the fourth quarter, neither the No. 1 nor the No. 2 guy may return. So if Garcia's injury is bad enough to knock him out for a quarter or two but not so bad that he can't return, Reid might have to go with Detmer at quarterback until Garcia can go. Or maybe Reid won't want to risk using Detmer at all, meaning that A.J. Feeley gets the nod for the balance of the game. Oh, and if Feeley comes in before the fourth quarter then Detmer won't be able to do any of the holding.

Number5
So, with what happened to Romo sits to pee last night showing just how important having a quality holder is in the playoff....in your minds, has the re-signing of Koy Detmer been justified? Though Reid has gone on record saying that his return was to boost Akers confidence and accuracy, the kicker denied requesting the change. In fact, he has stated that he was quite happy with Johnson holding kicks, though if you looked at his stats, you'd disagree.... So I ask ATN, is this a good move? Bringing back Detmer also drops Feeley to the 3rd QB on the depth chart, so if Garcia were to go down, it would be Detmer and not Feeley who would then come in to replace him. If Feeley were brought in over Detmer, that would mean the Detmer wouldn't be able to hold for Akers.....so again, is this a good move for the Eagles or not? Watching Romo sits to pee last night, it looked as if the pressure really got to him. Look closely at his hands before the ball is snapped. He's shaking more than a 3 year old playing in the snow. I felt bad for him because of the moment.....hopefully the move by Reid works out. Has anyone read about the new wrinkles in the Giants gameplan? It has Barber truely excited. He said that it would exploit some of the things that the Eagles do against them. Now I know that they have a new OC, but at this point of the season, would Gilbride make that much of a difference? My guess is that he'll call more short passes for Eli so that he can get into a groove. What do you guys think?

Tarhog
Good luck guys. I think the Eagles deserve the chance to move on. The Giants don't deserve to be in this game. OWUeagleMD
Dave Spadero has just graced the Eagles main page with his infinitely brilliant opinion. Apparently, to win this game the Eagles will need to play better than the Giants. That's nothing but a well-earned degree producing stellar analysis. Go Birds. Number24
Well, it's good to be back... I have been writing an official return post but I put that on the back burner and will post it depending on the outcome of the game this evening. I realize that the demise of Romo sits to pee made Big Red look like a genius however, I don't think that was Andy's highlight... What was the better move by Andy Reid? Turning over the play calling duties or Signing Detmer? E-A-G-L-E-S....EAGLES!!!
Number5
Nerves are starting to build up over on the EMB (i'm a member there too, but I don't post cause they are stupid....lol) One of the posters noted that "The Eagles over confidence has me worried". Funny thing is that the only ones who seem opver confident are the fans and the media. When are people going to realize that the game could go two ways.... 1 - Blow Out 2 - Close Game And it could go either way. People shouldn't overlook NY, especially since Shockey is playing.... He's a hard working guy and keeps the page well up-to-date. From a journalistic perspective he is blow hard PR machine who should be ashamed of himself. I'd respect him a lot more if he just stopped pretending to be a reporter.

The obvious would be the play calling duties (why do I have this gut feeling that they on-side kick to start the game).....but Detmer might be big because he also has the ablity to run the trick plays out of the FG set up...... The confidence on 610 has been making me worried all week. Trent Cole was a little boastful on Monday, but other than that the team has been pretty mum as far as expectations go. If we play our game and they play theirs we should win the game. That's as much assuredness one can ask for in a playoff game.
