Dan Snyder needs to be on a reality show...

..where they have him give up his money for a year and live like a regular person.

He's never had to pinch pennies. He's never had to shop around for the best deal. He probably pays MSRP for his vehicles. Hell, he probably pays MORE than MSRP. The rest of us are in the unfortunate position of actually having a use for the money we save.

It really shows through in his bargaining (if you can call it that.) His approach is to make the offer so big they wouldn't dream of saying no, so we end up on the short end of every deal we ever make. He has no concept of negotiating for a lower price.

If he wants to wipe his butt with $100 bills, that's his business, but when his toilet paper is our draft picks and salary cap room, then his brute force bargaining method becomes a problem.

That's why Danny needs to be on a reality show or something. He needs a rude awakening. He needs to learn the value of a dollar.

Then we might actually make a reasonable deal for once.

Hate to break it to you, but Dan is a self made man. He started with nothing & busted his ass to get where he is now.

If you're going to bash the guy, at least get your facts right so you don't look quite so stupid.

I'm afraid I can't jump on the 'I hate Snyder' bandwagon. I realize a season ticket holder may have a different perspective because the prices for parking and tickets went higher. But from an out-of-sate fan, I expect him to spend money to try and bring the best team here. If he wasn't spending big bucks, then I'd be bugged.

Now if he's picking the talent, then I'd have something else to gripe about, but I believe that would be someone else.

The most damaging thng I've heard yet about him came from Antonio Pierce, who said that Snyder doesn't value anyone on the team as much as the next free agent. That means he's got management blinders on, that makes him think his success is all his own wheeling and dealing and never the personnel he has. A fatal flaw for a manager of a company or a football team.

No need for personal attacks.

"Never" is hyperbole.

There are no facts. It was an opinion thread.

If you think Snyder is a saavy football negotiator, then, by all means, enlighten us.

I think there is some misunderstanding here.

I LOVE how Snyder is willing to spend money on the team.

I just wish for once someone would say "The Redskins made out like bandits on that trade." or "They really got a good deal on that player."

I'm simply offering my explanation as to why that doesn't happen. If you have a better explanation, feel free to share it.

It wasn't. Your idea was stupid. We've said all along here to go after the post, not the poster. That's exactly what was done. You may be a little confused that the fallout from calling a post stupid is that it may reflect back on the author & then the author has trouble differentiating between the two & interpreting it as a personal attack.

It has nothing to do with how Dan Snyder was brought up ... "The Simple Life 4 starring Dan Snyder" wouldn't make any difference because, as people have said, Dan worked his way to the top through his own hard work.

I think the problem is that Dan is a fan, just like the rest of us. I mean the other owners are fans, but Dan is a huge fan whose dream was to own the Redskins and he actually achieved it. He's just like any of the posters in this forum, sitting around coming up with crazy ideas to improve our team. He believes that the next free agent is all we need to get us to the Super Bowl. The difference is that he is actually in a position to make things happen, so instead of starting a crazy thread on ES, he actually signs the guy.

There's no question Snyder is willing to spend money, and that's great, because he has plenty of it. And he earned it on his own. But it's obvious to me that, at least part of his financial success is due to his lack of ethics. He is more than willing to cross a line that that others are not willing to cross.

But, apparently, spending money is not the answer.

I live in upper montgomery county. It's Redskins territory, you can tell because most of the rural newspaper boxes are Washington post boxes. But go five miles up the road, and those boxes change to Baltimore Sun boxes. Ravens territory is very close.

I have this buddy who says he's a Redskins fan, but he did put his name on the list to get season tickets at Ravens stadium, and he has been a season ticket holder at Ravens stadium since the stadium opened. He frequently drops his daughter off at our house on his way to the stadium, if we happen to have an away game that week. They pull into our driveway, and he's got his purple jersey on and flies his purple car flags. And off they go. This has been going on for years. And I can't help but feel a little jealous of the fun he has watching his team win -- pretty much consistently.

Here's a comparison of how the Ravens have been doing since Snyder took full control over the Redskins:

Year ******** Redskins *********** Ravens

2000 ********** 8-8 ************* 12-4 - wildcard 4-0 won Superbowl

2001 ********** 8-8 ************** 10-6 - wild card 1-1

2002 ********** 7-9 ************** 7-9

2003 ********** 5-11 ************* 10-6 - div champs, 0-1

2004 ********** 6-10 ************** 9-7

2005 ********** 10-6 wild card 1-1 **** 6-10

2006 ********** 5-9 ***************13-3 - div champs

Next week, my buddy will pull into my driveway, and happily drop his daughter off once again. And then off he'll go to Ravens stadium to host the Colts in the divisional playoff. And I'll force a smile and wave to him as his truck backs out and starts his 30 minute drive.

What's he got? 4 playoff years, one superbowl, and a good chance for another superbowl appearance. What do we have? Record breaking spending year after year with below average performance. Oh, and one winning record out of seven years under Snyder's leadership.

I am a Redskins fan for life, but I can't help but feel envious.

Despite Dan being a self made man, it is hard to argue that he isn't playing around with the team. That is why people have the negative perception of him (well the overly negative perception), people think the dear Redskins that are so important to them are nothing but a play toy for Danny. Yes he is a fan like the rest of us, but the most of the rest of us know when we make BS threads about free agent signings that we aren't the most qualified to deal with it.

Dan has the ultimate responsibility in the organizations and when it doesn't perform it is his responsibility. As a self made man I hope he understands that.
