redman
At 5-11' date=' there is little room to get worse, but a lot of room for improvement. I see a 9-7 record going into next year (if we keep the team together). It's funny how our biggest offseason priority is to resign a guy we drafted in the third round. That makes me proud. All we need is to draft some young talent and continue to make them lifetime Redskins (trade down in the draft, get more picks).[/quote']In our conference, assuming we take care of our own business, with a last place schedule next year 12-4 is not out of the question. If our run defense stiffens, with our offense we could be very good. Again though, we have some work to do on defense this offseason.
Neophyte
I swear I just don't understand this.... we've been a GREAT team about keeping our own. I'm not sure, but we may just be the best. You guys act as if we let everyone go every year simply because this whole lets-bash-the-FO thing is in right now. Come on! Pierce, Clark(which was probably the worst one), Arrington(who could've stayed),Robert Royal and Taylor Jacobs are the only guys we let go ourselves. Bailey, Smoot, Coles, and Ramsey all wanted to go themselves. Give it a break. In two years we've had very little turnover, and I don't think this offseason will be any different. Just cuz we're aggressive in free agency doesn't mean we're letting everybody go. Everyone's still here, and Gibbs has stressed continuity. Just look at our coaching staff too. Very few teams in the NFL have as much continuity there as we do. Stop with the lies cuz it's getting ridiculous how many times I have to read about how horrible we are with re-signing our own. You have Smoot in the wrong catagory. He would have stayed if we had come up with the right money. He did not want to leave till he felt like he got low-balled. And I am sorry but we don't do a good job of keeping our own, not the starters or first guys off the bench. Pierce, Smoot, Clark, Harris (you forgot him completely) and Royal are all gone because we let them leave. In that same time we have extended who that starts? Samuels, Moss and Lloyd (not sure I should count these last two but I will to be gracious). That is it. Everyone else is either a FA new to us or has been under contract the whole time Gibbs has been here. So the answer is five lost vs. 3 kept and I am being way generous with the 3 as two of those guys got new deals right after being traded for without ever playing a down of ball in the B&G. If we get tight about it the answer is five lost vs one kept by my count. How much better would the D be with those first 4 names up there still on the field? I don't know for sure but I would bet better than 31st and I am betting our record would be better than 5-11 too.

professor21
Carlos is going to be real good. Especially since he's gonna work with Deion and Darrell Green in the offseason. If he can start catching some of those INTs, we will be in for a treat next season. I agree with you completely. He may have sounded a little over-exhuberent saying "He could have made Pro-Bowl with more INTs" earlier this year but him wanting to work with two AWSOME corners ever in the offseason says he knows he has (a lot) of room for improvement and is going to get there (and his chance at a pro-bowl) with that kind of attitude. Hail to Rogers!
Taylor 36
Last week after the game I was able to have access to be right outside the players locker room and was able to talk to some of the players. When Dockery walked by I asked him, "Man, youre gonna resign with us right?" He looked at me and laughed and said, "man I aint goin no where, I'm a Redskin."Santana Moss said the same thing when I said he better retire a Redskin. he said, "Oh 4 sho, 4 life baby" I like these two guys. Seriously, what do you expect them to say??? "Hell no, this team sucks. I'm out of here." I don't trust ANY football player when it comes to loyalty and money. How many guys have we had that said they wanted to be a Redskin for life, but CHOSE to take a bigger offer some where else, or paid the team to go some where ele??? There aren't any #28's left in the NFL.

Hail to Rogers! Since I started watching football, first game I can remember watching was Miami-Skins SB on my dads lap. I have never seen hands as bad as Rogers. I would have died if I had missed one of those picks in HS, but he kind of just shrugs it off. Really annoys me. I sure hope he gets better. While he will probably not be the best ever, he should become more of a reliability rather than a liability. lets hope for the best!

I'll hope for the best but expect the worst . It be nice if we didn't have to teach our 1st round pick how to catch a ball.

SkinsWizCubsDukes
anyone who uses a straight up BPA method it stupid (IMO). the FO should use a rating system for potential draftees, and for already existing players. then pick the BPA based on the numerical difference between their existing players and the potential player based on position......for example:the Redskins rate their Defense as follows (not much thought placed in these ratings): DT: 5 DE: 6 OLB: 7 MLB: 4 CB: 6 FS: 8 SS: 5 There are players available that rank the following: MLB: 8 CB: 9 SS: 8 They should pick the MLB, because the difference is the highest (8-4=4) I think this is what happend when we got Carlos Rodgers instead of Merriman. Although we needed a wideout.
