CGSKINS
Did he really?????? Because, I didn't catch the entire interview and it would surprise me for a Redskin to talk of the draft so soon (not in a good way or bad way). Just surprising as in, I wouldn't think they were keeping up with the draft prospects so soon. Yea the question was asked by a caller to the show, that if Calvin Johnson was available should the skins pick him. and Doc walker and Springs both said NOOOO!!! They want Alan Branch. stwasm
Thats good to hear. Man! Dockery and Springs wher very positive. I hope this team can turn around. Saying all the right things and doing it are two different things. I hate to be a killjoy, but we've heard all of this before. This is just talk. Let's see some action. Let's see Dockery get signed. Let's see positive changes in the front office. Let's see them resolve the animosity issues. Let's see more safety measures/policing inside the stadium. Dockery is next and then we shall see where we go from there.

They want Alan Branch. I understand both sides of the Johnson argument. WR is not a position of need. I also respect the other side that says rewind back to the draft with Jordan staring the Trailblazers right in the face. They were a guard heavy team that didnt need a guard named Jordan. How'd that work out?
SkinsWizCubsDukes
Yeah with a top 10 pick you must go after the best players, not the position you need the most, with that said I REALLY hope we trade down because this draft has some good talent and I believe teams will chomp at the bit to get some of the top prospects, which we DON'T need I hope we can trade down just a few picks and still pick up Branch, who is like 14th best on Mel Kiper's big board, there are some other d-lineman that are going to be availible. fansince62
Springs stated that they have good team chemistry and that every thing has been blown out of perportion. WOW. I hope people are listening. that's a big duh! this has been a media affair all the way. it also doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that 5-11 means there were some real problems that have to be fixed. also, one suspects, Springs was doing some arse covering here...after all...he was quoted as stating (accurately) that the team lacked talent (presumably on defense).... bulldog
is this Springs way of showing himself willing to restructure and thereby accept more salary turned into cash signing bonus? ain't it grand?

rmancha
Last week after the game I was able to have access to be right outside the players locker room and was able to talk to some of the players. When Dockery walked by I asked him, "Man, youre gonna resign with us right?" He looked at me and laughed and said, "man I aint goin no where, I'm a Redskin."Santana Moss said the same thing when I said he better retire a Redskin. he said, "Oh 4 sho, 4 life baby" I like these two guys. Man I know we are going to be good next season and to hear that Moss and Dockery want to stay Redskins just made my day:applause: :wavetowel
bulldog
now, let's see if the front office gets #66 signed before the start of FA. knowing Cerrato he probably wants to let Dockery go and instead sign 36 year old Bob Whitfield and move him to guard

TSO
And I hope a deal will be done soon. I think we've learned about re-signing our own. I swear I just don't understand this.... we've been a GREAT team about keeping our own. I'm not sure, but we may just be the best. You guys act as if we let everyone go every year simply because this whole lets-bash-the-FO thing is in right now. Come on! Pierce, Clark(which was probably the worst one), Arrington(who could've stayed),Robert Royal and Taylor Jacobs are the only guys we let go ourselves. Bailey, Smoot, Coles, and Ramsey all wanted to go themselves. Give it a break. In two years we've had very little turnover, and I don't think this offseason will be any different. Just cuz we're aggressive in free agency doesn't mean we're letting everybody go. Everyone's still here, and Gibbs has stressed continuity. Just look at our coaching staff too. Very few teams in the NFL have as much continuity there as we do. Stop with the lies cuz it's getting ridiculous how many times I have to read about how horrible we are with re-signing our own. JoeGibbsThickandthin
No team keeps everyone. The best teams can replace almost anyone like the Patriots. They should of kept Antonio . Clark was terrible .

How'd that work out? :laugh:Point being that professional sports is littered with examples supporting and refuting BOTH drafting techniques: draft for need, or draft the best athlete available. anyone who uses a straight up BPA method it stupid (IMO). the FO should use a rating system for potential draftees, and for already existing players. then pick the BPA based on the numerical difference between their existing players and the potential player based on position......for example: the Redskins rate their Defense as follows (not much thought placed in these ratings): DT: 5 DE: 6 OLB: 7 MLB: 4 CB: 6 FS: 8 SS: 5 There are players available that rank the following: MLB: 8 CB: 9 SS: 8 They should pick the MLB, because the difference is the highest (8-4=4)
