Xameil
from what I understand they are going to, but I don't know if that was just a rumor, or if it is true. Call them to find out.
TimmySmith
This is now available to me (Silver Spring). Who can give up the goods as far as speed and reliability? I currently have scum-sucking Comcast.
HOF44
I was under the impression that Sunday Ticket was exclusive to Directv. It was up for bid a few years ago and DTV outbid comcast for the rights. I suppose Verizon could work out something with DTV, but I would be very surprised. I doubt seriously you will see Sunday Ticket anywhere but DTV until the rights are up for bid again.
DixieFlatline
Looks like they have a deal already with Directv. From the front page of the website 'Verizon FiOS TV or DIRECTV® service through Verizon' edit: Looking at it now, they may have a deal, but its not clear if FiOS would include Directv or not. Coooleeey
I have FiOS. Its pretty good, same basic stuff you get from Cox or Comcast only cheaper. We haven't had any TV issues besides just getting more comfortable with the user guide and all that. You can't pause or rewind back more than 15 minutes of a show compared to Cox which was a full hour. I might be able to change that in the settings I have to check. Other than that and not having the ability to set a reminder for a show, no real complaints. I'll take these small gripes over the TV flickering during football games that was happening with Cox. The phone service is good and the Internet is pretty fast. I downloaded 3.5gb worth of porn the other night in a record fast time
jbooma
I would love FIOS been waiting since November for them to install it, the problem is they have equipment on my house from my neighbor so are having issues

Coooleeey
how much is Verizon Fios for TV and Internet I have normal phone service, no long distance. 15M down/2M up internet service with a free wireless router they install. One normal set top box and one HD with DVR at my place. No HBO or Showtime but they have two channels called HD Net or something that are movie channels. $136.91 for the first 6 months $151.91 after that $19.99 one time activation fee I was paying $127 to Cox for cable and Internet. So pretty much I pay a little more and get phone service. FiOS also has more HD channels, including NFL Network in HD all the time. Cox only had NFL Net in HD during their games...LAME! I have worked telecom for years so I have always been against Verizon. It sucks but you just can't beat the reduction in price and good service (so far). I use them for my cell service as well and it blows everyone else out of the water

They shouldn't need to. They reuse the existing copper from the Crossconnect to the DMARC on your home. The cross connects are the green boxes you see on every couple blocks and your DMARC is usually the gray box on the side of your house. If you have the cross connect near you then you are screwed, otherwise you wouldn't know. A couple people in our neighborhood got their yards jacked up but other than that I really didn't even notice they were doing it. Ok, I'll shut up now. JMS
This is now available to me (Silver Spring). Who can give up the goods as far as speed and reliability? I currently have scum-sucking Comcast. Good part of FIOS is it's state of the art connectivity. The reason why the US has about 90% of it's FIOS infrastructure dark and has been dark for almost a decade is because every few years they figure out ways to make the FIOS lines more efficient, so the planned infrastructure literally grows in capacity. Also FIOS uses light to trasmit data. Nothing faster than light speed. Also FIOS is going to offer 30$ all you can eat internet, phone, and cable TV, Introductory rate.. As opposed to Comcast where it's 30$ for each service. Bad part Comcast was given a local monopoly in areas to offset the cost of building the network. So they had no competition for the last 10 years trying to offer you services on their network. There was a grandfather clause which required comcast to open their network up to competition just like AT&T's phone network after 10 years. That 10 years is coming to an end and soon you will have a choice of service providers on the comcast copper network. There is no such agreement with Verison or FIOS. The laws which allow counties to force competition onto a network owner all deal with copper lines. There are no such laws dealing with fiber. So FIOS is a closed system. Once they have you at there low introductory rate, they will be free to charge whatever they like with no threat of competition.
.Guy.
I am pissed at FIOS right now. Stupid info won't come up anymore. "Program information is being updated. Please check back in a few minutes." A few minutes = since yesterday. I have unplugged the cable box's and the reset the router/terminal thingy. Still no go. Going to have to call customer support. Stupid Fios.

Unless they ran the lines above ground, before I moved into my house in July then its running on copper from the street. I'm pretty sure the F2 is still copper since its generally a short run. If you live in springfield unless you live in a town house your neighborhood is most likley areil run on poles there for thats why you never saw any digging. They started running in fiber in springfield before July though.

They didn't install the ONT until the actual install date. http://www22.verizon.com/content/consumerfios/faqs/faqs.htm#fios_speed_q30 Installation 1. What's involved in the Verizon FiOS Internet Service Installation process? Prior to ordering your new Verizon FiOS Internet Service, please check to make sure that your computer meets our system requirements. Our system can verify or you can print instructions on how to manually check all of your computers. When you place your order for FiOS Internet Service, you will schedule an appointment time for a Verizon technician to come to your home to conduct the installation process. Depending on your location, we may need to bury the new fiber cabling from our area terminal to your home. This will typically take place prior to your installation date, and you are not required to be present for this portion of the installation. On the day of installation, in most homes, our technicians will need to install an Optical Network Terminal or ONT, typically on the outside of your home if one doesn't already exist. As a safety feature in case of a power outage, the ONT is equipped with a Battery Backup Unit that will be installed inside your garage or home. In apartments or condominiums, the ONT and Battery Backup Unit may be installed in a central location within your building, or it they may be installed inside your home. In addition, in some apartments or condominiums, an additional modem may be installed, and filters may be placed at each phone jack. If necessary, our technician will also install special data wiring and any required wall jacks, along with installing and configuring your router on your primary computer.
