Once again, Saban bolts on a team... (Saban to Alabama)

I posted it here because I thought I'd get an actual discussion going - not a Hokies vs. 'Eers pissing match.

Seriously though - its hard to blame Saban for taking the same money for a lot fewer headaches and a lot more success. I didn't think he was going to do it, but he did. I think it will cost him a lot of respect, but after a few seasons in Bama, that will all be forgotten.

Hell, with a good recruiting class he could win the whole shebang next year with a healthy McFadden! (unless he's not returning).

Wow, McFadden is returning to Alabama? I bet there are going to be some seriously bumed Arkansas fans. :(

Saban found out pretty quickly that trying to build a team in the NFL without a legit QB is an exercise in futility

It can work in college though. He'll do well in 'bama. I think they'll win a National Championship within 5 years. jmho though.

I dont know about any of that.

Less headaches? Alabama fires head coaches like no other school ive ever seen. They are looking for Bear Bryant v. 2.0. The problem is the Legend of Bear Bryant has grown so much since he died that it is an impossible standard for anyone to live up to. Even Nick Saban who i think is a great coach. Mike Shula went 10-2 LAST YEAR finished 2nd in the SEC and won a bowl game. He had ONE bad season and they fired his ass before the season was even over. I mean.....DAMN!

And more success? Bama has a long way to go to get on the same level as LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas (and Georgia). IMO i think its easier to turn an NFL franchise around because the playing field is more level with the cap and the existing parody. College coaches always struggle early in their careers as they try to recruit and develop the kind of players that fit their system.

Though apparantly Bama has unlimited resources to throw into that program, so maybe he'll come right in and kick ass. I doubt it though.

Apparently, word on the street around here (SEC country) is that there are a couple of 'Bama boosters with more $$$$ than God. These guys are pretty serious about things, ifyaknow what I mean... and were the main reason that Saban was lured over. (and the same reason their last coach was fired, which I understand a lot of Tide fans are actually upset about)

'bama served some kind of NCAA suspension a few years back, so they'll have to be careful ;) ;)

of course, it's all just rumor. Friend of a friend type stuff.

No cap, no overpaid athletes to deal with, and an infinitely softer schedule. Yeah, I'd say less headaches. :)

Are you on crack? How many coaches has that dirty program had in the last decade? They'll run him out of Tuscaloosa in three years.

Not true. He could lose every game next year, and then beat Auburn to end the season and he would be guaranteed at least 4 years.
