stwasm
http://www.washtimes.com/sports/20070103-125333-9955r.htm Brandon Lloyd represents everything that is wrong with the Washington Redskins.... He cost two valuable draft picks, showing again the Redskins don't care about the draft. He was given a new contract even though he had a year remaining on his deal, showing again the Redskins don't care about players proving something before being paid. And he became a problem to deal with, showing again the Redskins don't always take into account character background issues. But unlike a lot of Redskins, all indications are Lloyd will receive a second chance in 2007.... Q: So despite Gibbs' willingness to make changes on the roster, there won't be change in the front office? A: Nope. It would make too much sense, and it would require The Danny to cut ties with buddy Vinny Cerrato, which means a "football boss" isn't coming to Ashburn. And until Gibbs realizes he should concentrate on coaching and spend money on a football guy instead of staying at the Ritz-Carlton in St. Louis, the Redskins will be running in wet concrete. authentic
and to think people get mad when i mention that this organization really doesn't care about winning at all cost. All they care about is making money, thats it. Right now, this organization is a joke. Furthermore, who ever is scouting players, should be shot with no blindfold. I've been saying the same thing throughout the season. We're a marketing organization that plays some football. Sadly, they care more about the "green" than the "burgundy and gold." BigRay
I have never liked Brandon Lloyd and I thought it was a bad move when they signed him and I will stick to that to this day. I have said all along what I have seen all year it appear we just have players looking to collect a fat pay check. The only two free agent moves that appears to be good moves is Randle El need to get the ball in his hands more often he make things happen. It appears that Andre Carter may turn out not to be the bust we all thought he played some good ball in the last part of the season.
Boss_Hogg
Vinny will be here as long as Snyder owns the team. I love this team, but they are in shambles.
PCRoughrider
Q: Saunders and Williams are expected to return. But should Gibbs? His press conferences have been painful to watch, and his in-game decisions (the few he makes) are puzzling. Does Coach Joe still have the goods? A: The jury is definitely out on Gibbs Version 2.0. He's gone 6-10, 10-6 and 5-11 in three seasons. The interesting thing about Gibbs is how differently he approaches things on Sundays as opposed to the offseason. On Sundays, Gibbs is Mr. Conservative. In three years, there has never been a fake punt or field goal or surprise on-side kickoff. And the number of times he declined to go for it on fourth-and-short is mind-boggling. In the offseason, he takes The Danny's millions and overhauls the roster, even in spots that don't need fixing. When Gibbs needs to be conservative, he becomes too aggressive; when he needs to go for broke, he punts. This was just perfect!!! Why isn't Gibbs more of a wild-eyed radical on Sundays as he is during the offseason. During the offseason, he's willing to take chances that most other front offices never would. Where is this impulse on Sunday afternoons during the fall???
Gregpeck99
I can't belive Gibbs checked into the St. Louis Ritz ... in the old days they used to stay at the Marriot ... and win.
str8jacket
I just wish the organization could get things right. Kind of scary sometimes to think about the direction things seem to be going in. I hope that 20 years from now I don't look back and see this team in the state that Detroit or Arizona has been in for the last 20-30 years. kevinklein
I like Lloyd. I think he does need to get the ball more. He's a playmaker and it will get the defense off of Moss' nuts.

Om
This is the WT's response to the 3-day tour de force from the WP? One of O'Halloran's usual throwaway ask-myself-a-leading-question-and-answer-it" cliche jobs? Good work fellas.
Mr. S
I really am not sure what to think anymore about this team. I tried my hardest to believe in Lloyd, and it looks like it's failed. All I hear are complaints from fans about gameday experiences, more and more complaints. Maybe it is just due to a larger number of fans being on this board, but we did not hear as many complaints in 2004. I remember in the beginning of 2005, Snyder came on here and someone asked him for more port-a-potty's, Snyder guaranteed it. Suddenly they were gone in 2006. That is just one example of him limiting the gameday experience. Then comes the team, we could have just stood pat and continued on with our emotional drive. Instead (in hindsight) we turned the team upside down. I think I will join the countless others here and not buy any Redskins gear from the organization or nfl.com until things change. Good thing e-bay exists.

Good thing e-bay exists. This team would go along by first admitting that it's a collosal mess. I salute Clinton Portis for doing that. I just hope he doesn't get punished for it, via a trade or some other kind of sanction. Once they admit there's a problem, then they can -- hopefully -- get this thing turned around. Until then, Flex, you could be seeing a lot of people taking your stance and even giving up their season tickets altogether.

Hey i just call it how i see it. You go to the playoffs for the second time in 15 seasons and all of a sudden you hike ticket prices by 17%? I wouldn't be shocked if we went to the playoffs next season, that we would have to pay for training camp again for the following year. I'm fully aware that this is a business, but aleast make us feel like you actually care by making sound decisions to better the product. Honestly who really gives a damn about a new radio station when you can't win. Who cares about big name free agents, if they can't produce? I find it unbelievable that we can sit on this board and map out a strategy to build a half-way decent franchise, yet you have these pricks making millions and they don't know what they are doing. ............BTW, YEAH VINNY I'M TALKING ABOUT YOU!!!!

I hope that 20 years from now I don't look back and see this team in the state that Detroit or Arizona has been in for the last 20-30 years. Thats exactly where this franchise is headed. We are one of the worse franchises over the last 15 years. And I dont see it getting much better. All they care about is signing these quick fixes to consistent problems, and thats not going to make it in this league.

Because they dont know how to run a team! They trade their entire draft for a WR who has proven nothing in the league, and overpay for every player they sign, signing guys to contracts worth twice as much as they would get on the open market. So yeah, I'm gonna criticize them for being stupid. At least Jerry Jones overpaid for T.O. You all can form your opinions on his decision, but he overpaid for T.O., one of the best WRs in the league. We overpaid for Lloyd, and the rest of the league said, "who"? Are we as fans supposed to be happy with the Redskins for trying. Should it matter that Gibbs II has a record of 22-28? I guess we should be happy because, at least they're playing in the games on Sunday. If they didn't want to win, they wouldn't even be playing. Thats BS and you know it. If the team really wanted to win, they would admit to the problems they have instead of trying to defend their moves saying things like they haven't signed any free agents who weren't good. All they're doing is lieing to the fans and giving themselves more opportunities to screw the franchise!

Either they are to be criticized for spending too much money on free agents they think will improve the team and thus its win total, or they do not. If they do, then they can not ALSO be criticized for "not caring about winning". Raising ticket prices 17% does not automatically mean they don't care about winning. That's too simplistic. And just because they pick free agents that don't pan out doesn't mean they did so simply for money's sake. That's also way too simplistic. The only care about money thing comes from Danny knowing what sells. Its not winning, its big name players. So he signs as many big name players and says, that'll keep the seats filled. He doesn't give a damn about putting the best team on the field. He just wants to maximize the amount of revenue going into his pocket. So he does that by overpaying for bums and calling them superstars!

He just wants to maximize the amount of revenue going into his pocket. So he does that by overpaying for bums and calling them superstars! Please... First of all, it's been well known and EXTREMELY well documented that Gibbs and his staff have about a 95% say in who gets brought in and who does not...this lunacy about every player the Skins sign only being signed to "fill the seats" is so off base it's laughable. The Skins have "filled the seats" for something like 40 consecutive years lol...THAT'S one reason Snyder can raise the prices: suppy and demand. He doesn't raise the prices because he thinks "Ooooh, I just signed Brandon Lloyd! People will definitely fork over 15% more for their tickets now!"...The only owners who sign players solely (or primarily) for their perceived marketing value are owners who play to half-empty stadiums every weekend. And that ain't the Skins.
