BCS Bowls Thread Michigan = OVERATED

Leave it to JB to proclaim something as a great truth from a meaningless consolation bowl. I didn't see any fire from that Wolverine team. USC had some and kudos to them.

But to pretend this result is somehow representative of anything other than this game is kind of foolish. Otherwise, we can go back to numerous bowls and their results.

As these games aren't playoffs (except the title game) how you can invest anything in them is beyond me. And I'd say that if Michigan went in there and stomped them.

I didn't even watch the second half.

Sorry Ghost it is the Rose Bowl if your team can not get juiced for that then that is a shame.

Maybe you hate to admit if that your defense was a tad overated this year and once a team made Michigan one dimensional then they are not that good.

OSU would have won by more today had they played again, that is a fact. After watching USC I kind of wish it was them vs OSU not Florida, they are loaded.

Uh, I'm a Michigan fan with a strong sense of history. The Wolverines play more amped in the Citrus Bowl vs. SEC competition than they do in the Rose Bowl. They have a LOOOOOONG history of losing the Rose Bowl and often showing up very sluggish and unimpressive. NOT just this team.

It's a shame but it is what it is. It's not a playoff. It's not the title game and Michigan loses the Rose Bowl more often than it wins. And it's no longer due to any kind of weather or system or talent disparity.

Personally, Lloyd Carr gets one more year next year and if he falters, he needs to go.

The other problem is with recruiting, they are not getting the guy they need at QB. Henne is worse than Navarre in the pocket. Dude will take a sack sooner than sidestep a rush and make a play. He's just terrible if he has to move. And the next QB they're getting is some 6-7 dude and, I might be wrong, doesn't strike me as mobile or quick. Michigan needs to find itself a Troy Smith type. Hell, switch Troy Smith with a sprained ankle with Henne and Michigan wins that game.

I just don't invest a lot of emotion in bowl games and really haven't. It's nice to win and it might get exciting on some level but I just don't give a rat's behind about playing for #3 or worse. Never did. And it looks like the Wolverines didn't either. The loss in Columbus clearly drained them.

Is Henne a senior? I agree one more year for Lloyd that team is too talented, and OSU will not be good next year since most of their stars are seniors.

USC though is looking like a legit #1 though.

USC has been OVERATED for most of the year.

If they were not they wouldn't have been beat by a unranked UCLA team. Hey, if I was USC I would want to play in the Rose Bowl every year. What better advantage for the University of Southern California to play in Southern California?

Michigan looked flat as a pancake. Did Coach Carr have the players practice during the break? If so, it didn't look like it. Michigan was out played and (I will say it) OUT COACHED. It is time for Lloyd Carr to find new employment. 3 straight losses to Ohio State and 3 straight losses in bowl games. He is becoming a John Cooper clone.

Topped only by overtime.

Those were two of the greatest plays I've ever seen ...

Agreed. I didn't even see the hand-off on the two point conversation. I didn't know how the RB got the ball until they showed the replay. That was ****ing awesome. And the call to have the RB throw it on 4th down? ****ing awesome. The hook and lateral to tie it at the end of regulation? ****ing awesome. I don't give two ****s about Boise State but that had me jumping up and down when they won it. I feel sorry for anyone who missed it.

Definitely awesome. What a way to win if for Boise St. I still put the Texas-USC game over this one but it is close.
As a whole game, Texas-USC was better, but for 5 minutes of football, there is nothing that can top Oklahoma driving down the field to score and make the 2-point conversion to tie ... Boise State throwing a heart-breaking interception to give the game away ... With under a minute left Boise State pulling off a hook-and-lateral to tie the game and send it to overtime ... Oklahoma cruising to an easy TD, and then forcing Boise State to a fourth down ... Boise State splitting their QB out wide only to have a WR take the snap and throw a touchdown pass ... then Boise State going for a two point conversion where they pump fake the WR screen then statue of liberty the ball to the RB for the victory ... un-freaking-believable.
