10 reasons why we WILL play good next season

im getting tired of clicking on threads where people are "dissapointed" and "sad" and blah blah blah, how about we look at some of the bright spots on the team instead of talking about the crappy ones. Here are the top 10 reason why we will be good next year.

10. Jason Campbell will be better next year. With his natural abilities of getting away from tacklers and his arm strength, it can only get better next year when his timing with his receivers will be better due to the time he will have to practice in the offseason

9. We have a solid backup. We now know we can potentially have a great 1-2 punch, or a great backup in case Portis ever gets hurt again or needs a little breather.

8. Portis will be back! Betts is a great player, but does not have the explosiveness that Clinton does. Things will be more exciting when he is playing.

7. Andre Carter and Randle El will be more involved. They have shown signs of being good players, streaky at times but at other times they have been great. Look for their play to be more consistent next year.

6. Carlos is getting help. He is getting help from THE Darrell Green. I hope he can make Carlos half of what Darrell was, he should be better than ever coming back for only his 3rd year in the league.

5. We get to play Detroit.

4. We have young talent. With players like Campbell, Cooley, Golston, Rogers, and Taylor, the future is still bright.

3. Sean Taylor will get back to playing like Sean Taylor. The defense will shape up, with a few offseason pickups and Sean will be back to hitting like Sean.

2. The Washington Redskins are the Washington Redskins, they will not accept defeat. Players will be coming back with a fire, ready to play some better football.

1. Joe Gibbs is still our head coach.

Hail to the Redskins!

The washington redskins have been accepting defeat now for 15 years. I've seen nothing this past season that would lead me to believe that the majority of the players here care one bit about being "Redskins."

WOW....another dumb comment. Did you see the Giants game. If they didn't care then they wouldn't have played that inspired. The D did play terrible since we were missing Marcus and Springs. No one gave up.

I like your spirit and I too think we are going to shock alot of people next year only if the defense can get back to a top 10 defense. The number 5 pick I don't agree with did you see them hand dallas there butts!!!!I also think detroit will be better next year.

Portis, Moss, Cooley, Jansen, Samuels, Thomas, and Betts do not a team make. These are the only guys I've seen that care about being "Redskins" outside of collecting their paycheck.

This reason might hold some water if we can get rid of the dead weight and bad attitudes that are destroying the team.

Brandon Lloyd comes to mind immediately. He's really been the only one without the outspoken negative attitude (and one is enough to destroy a team, see TO).

But there have been enough players on this team (mostly on the defense) who have either been mailing it in or just plain can't play. For their sake, I hope its the former.

Another reason, it is VERY, VERY difficult to miss the playoffs in consecutive years and it is very easy to get things turn around, see the Saints. With a great offense like we have shown the past few weeks, and some new acquisitions, hopefully under a GM, we will be contenders NEXT year.

Sorry to be a negative nancy, but we're in a very different situation than the Saints. Everybody points to them, but their season was sabotaged from the beginning by Hurricane Katrina when they were forced to play 16 straight road games.

They were a few pieces away and had a savvy enough FO to fill them. I can't say I have the same confidence in our management.

As far as missing the playoffs in consecutive years, we've certainly made that look easy over the past 15 seasons. We must have a really talented group of guys if they can manage to suck that much.

What about Washington, Griffin, Salavea, Rock, Thrash, Sellers, or Randle El? And what about all the players that aren't necessarily that vocal ... the team players far outnumber the bad attitudes on this team.

If that's the case, the Skins, with their two playoff appearances in 14 seasons, have done pretty much the impossible!!

Parity is rampant these days and this offense is on the verge of greatness. If Dan Snyder continues to do what he does, and restructure contracts, and sign Clements and another D man, we will be in the playoffs without a doubt.

Parity has been rampant since the early 90s.....and it still has gotten this team 2 playoff appearances in 14 seasons.

The offense is on the verge of greatness? Based on? Yes, there are encouraging signs....the playcalling has been good the past 4 weeks, and we've had the points to show for it the past 2. Well, Brunell also looked good at times in '05, and also put up 30+ in consecutive games even this season.......how'd that turn out?

"If Snyder continues to do what he does"............this is the scariest part of your post. We've averaged roughly 7 wins per year since he's had control of this team. Happy with that?

I really DO believe our Front Office will learn from their mistakes this year and cut the fat. The offense should be set (when/if we re-sign Dockery). With the return (hopefully) of a healthy Springs and Prioleau, we need perhaps one player at each level of the defense (i.e., D-line, Linebacker and Secondary).

I'm always optimistic about the future.

Why isn't ST on that list? :silly:

See the Detroit Lions, the Houston Texans, the Oakland Raiders and the Arizona Cardinals.

Outside of Oakland, when was the last time any of those teams made the playoffs, and actually made some noise in them?

'Nuff said.

Good thread though. We do need some more positives going around. It gets depressing reading all about the Skins lately.

This three part series the WP is coming out with on why the Skins SUCK is a huge downer.
