brianforster
id be really interested to see these stats, just off the top of my head i can remember bigger plays being made by randel el the past few weeks since hes been the number 2 guy, anyone care to get statistical breakdown? Califan007 The Constipated
It would be hard to evaluate solely on dry stats alone...ARE is used differently than Lloyd is/was, most of Lloyd's #2 starts were with Brunell at the helm, you have to figure out how many times each was thrown to as the #2, etc, etc, yadda yadda and so on... CurseReversed
I cant count how many times Ive seen lloyd burning cb's on go routes and harldy ever getting the ball. He is the type of guy, that regardless of his height, that can make catches in one one coverage on the deep ball, if he does have coverage. he has explosive speed and great hands, a much better compliment to moss imo. That is the story of Lloyds career. The QB for some reason does not want to give him the ball.
Oldskool
We should have never traded for Lloyd. with the 2nd pick in the draft, we could have Steve Smith from USC and still have Branch in the 1st round.
Jumbo
That is the story of Lloyds career. The QB for some reason does not want to give him the ball. ????? Smith's first year with Lloyd seriously undermines your comment. Smith had no reluctance to throw to Lloyd. Lloyd had a far better year under a lousy Smith and a sorry SF team than he did here, which seems to get ignored and is perhaps another real indictment of parts of our situation. Whatever the truth about Lloyd's condcut is, his pre-existing skills and "coachability" didn't evaporate upon arrival. Nor do I see anything in all the games this year that looks like he's "quit trying." Whatever. Today is the official kick off of ramping up on Lloyd-dumping and since it is well underway, I'll just plan accordingly and kick back.

Thirtyfive2seven
Lloyd doesn't get the chances he got in SF. They threw the ball up there and let him make a play on it. When did the skins do that this year? Sure, he dropped a TD against the Bucs....but...who am I kidding? I don't like the guy. He seems like a total tool. Lombardi's_kid_brother
Neither of them are terribly good wide receivers. ARE is more versatile and actually seems to try so .... I vote for him.
Brandon Lloyd Christmas
he dropped one big pass and threw his helmet once. other than that, nobody gets the ball to him and ive seen him open tons. but hey, lets get rid of more talented guys. DB44
Neither of them are terribly good wide receivers. ARE is more versatile and actually seems to try so .... I vote for him. He deserves the chance to play the #2 WR. ARE has the desire and toughness, Lloyd does not. Plain and simple. There are many ways to contribute to a team other that just catching passes. ARE relishes in these areas.Maybe they can find away to use him better, since they were unable to get the ball to Moss also( meaning his numbers were down). The passing game was just a mess this year, but I feel our WR corp is solid.
The Rook
I like ARE's fire and drive. He is a good force to have on the field. However, if he was the number 2, how much would this detract from his punt return duties? :helmet:
trez
#2 WR production was piss poor, regardless of Lloyd or ARE. Granted, I didn't see that many balls thrown at either, but you have to do better at that spot. A revival of the fun bunch they were not.
twenty-eight
I really like ARE. Every touch he gets, he has a chance to take it to the house...it's just a feeling i get. I would like for his role in the offense to be even greater next year.
str8jacket
I like ARE. The guy is a true Redskin, he seems happy here and is very unselfish. Two very rare things on this team. I always thought that Lloyd was going to be unhappy here. He was unhappy in SF and let it be known. I really expected more production from all of our wrs but i thought that with so many good ones that playing time and production would be an issue and just seemed like eventually that Lloyd wouldn't be happy about it. I like the guys talent and I want to see him do well here. I think that it can happen. But realistically. We didn't need him or Duckett. Really a waste of draft picks and really could have used the cap money elsewhere. We had other positions that needed help alot more.
Trillskinsfan
I would love to see ARE be #2 next year. i disagree:mad: lloyd is a better #2 wr for this team,ARE riminds me alot of Ricky Sanders.but ARe just dosent have that throw it up and go get it mentality..ARE is more of a guy you hit on a quick slant on third down when a team sends 8 guys on a blitz,he needs space on his catches to make things works well for him. Moss,Lloyd,AND EL , thats a mean trio fro that *** i cant wait for next season and the seasons to come
Oldfan
Watching Detroit and Dallas, I was shaking my head in dismay watching Mike Furrey, an unknown fourth year pro, making his 98th catch of the seaon. Furrey probably makes the league minimum and he cost a plane ticket to acquire...but he produces more than Lloyd and ARE combined. Matt Millen might be a late bloomer as a GM (snicker). oraphus
Come on now... for ANY #2 Wr to perform he needs to gets balls thrown to him. We know that crappy Boonell doesn’t have the intelligence to scan the field for anyone other then Moss. And the game plan with Campbell was pretty conservative during the initial several weeks, understandably so. You can't make a fair assessment on Lloyd until he really gets a shot to perform in this offence. And although ARE looked solid from what i saw, i get a feeling that he is not an every down type player. I could be wrong, but I’d like to see Lloyd get another shot. [[ghost]]
We should have never traded for Lloyd.with the 2nd pick in the draft, we could have Steve Smith from USC and still have Branch in the 1st round. I don't see how that would work out, because Lloyd was traded for a 3rd this year, I believe. The second goes to NY, who got our second last year, and our second this year. Again, I'm PRETTY sure thats correct.

But playing in an Offense that throws 70% of the time you will get catches.

But playing in an Offense that throws 70% of the time you will get catches. That's true. But, the big-time WRs Furrey beat out didn't make 98 catches. He does it because he runs precise routes, gets open and catches the ball. No flash and dash.
jimster
ARE also has a little better timing with Campbell since Campbell was throwing more balls to the #3 and #4 Wr's in practice for the first half of the season. Campbell seemed to be comfortable with Thrash the few times he threw to him as well.
