skin4evere4life
dear god trade portis!?!???! is that what some of you have come to?? man this town turns on people fast Not turning on Portis at all ...if people will read with a open mind they would see that people are trying to state that some times desperate times begets desperate measures..."hans11" reply was probably stated the best... you may want to take a glance at it...we are going to have to start over because what we have is not going to work ...I have not read anything stating that Portis was not a good back but keeping it real the necleus of our team needs an overhaul. da#1skinsfan
How is it not going to work? Last year we NEARLY made the NFC Championship game with NO PASSING OFFENSE. Retooling the entire team is NOT the answer. Finding who really wants to be here and who wants to win and coaching them to be winners IS the answer. I hope when Gibbs turns this around WITH Portis and WITH Williams that each and every one of you fans turns in your jerseys and walks up 95 to NYC to root for the Giants. skin4evere4life
his glass shoulders......... do you see how the man blocks? would you rather he be betts and have the qb get sacked? If the o line did there damn job he wouldnt have to use his "glass shoulders" so much. Hell right now I say trade the whole team. The team that we have now is in the same league as the Houston, Detroit and the Browns and whoever we need to get rid of to get out of that league I am all for

SkinsFan13
Why? Why should they play hard? Are you effing kidding me? I can think of million of reasons WHY they should play hard... thats a SOFT attitude. it is a soft attitude and its not mine but my question as to what some players might be thinking. And in all honesty it might be mine if i was here for a couple years and saw how this fanbase quickly turns on people. I might just want the hell out of here to start somewhere where maybe the town isnt so quick to judge. This town is known around the nfl to be judgemental especialy of there qbs. clinton portis a real tough redskin and people turn on him and want to trade him because he gets injured and the team traded all the draft picks like idiots. i am a redskin fan and always will be but sometimes it does upset me how easy us fans turn on players, and I am guilty of it too. What I am saying is if I were a player and knew that, it might be harder to play for a team knowing that, instead of playing for a team you know has fans that will be with you through and through. Slateman
I've never thought Portis should be traded. Frankly, I thought there were a couple runs today that Portis would have taken to the house.

skin4evere4life
do i really need to respond to this? You do not need to answer but it is a legitimate question. If fixing something that is obviously broke is not the answer what is? I am one of the biggest Redskins fans in the world but I still can see that they need help...I remember when the colts were awful and I mean AWFUL and now look at them every year at the top of the league because they re-tooled...that team got rid of Marshal Faulk
kevin11
They sure do. Even though we'd probably get a 2nd rounder fo rhim...maybe.They are just clueless man. I dont know what to tell you. One week Novaks a hero, the next we're idiots for not signing Gramatica. One week Portis is the franchise, he gets hurt and now 10 tds a year is a joke. One week Sean Taylor is a hero, the next he misses an assignment and hes overrated. Damned if you do damned if you dont. Im convinced this fanbase just likes to complain, nobody REALLY wants the team to win because then theyd have nothing to complain about! I agree with you...If your really mad, you can always go to ATN and complain about dallas.. ..I'm just kidding about that...Some of these fans need to realize that these players get better with time and it takes a few years to get rookies to play well.. Enough of this lets change the offense every year because it diddnt get us to the playoffs right away. I am not saying there arent problems that need fixing, but portis and the rushing and BLOCKING he does is not one of them.

cmorina69
He's right. That second interception was because Betts went to the left instead of the right. Portis is a 1500+ back AND has all of the intangibles. Trade him my ass. True, thats why he is so great.

Maybe he needs a better supporting cast. I don't know but something is not working right in DC. It is about wins to me....yeah...we backed into the playoffs last year with a mediocre record but, as it has been proven this year, you can not depend on luck every year. If ONE great player with 1500 yards can not get you a decent record get three above average players for him that can.

I dno, not the route I want to go, I think we have other options.

I dno, not the route I want to go, I think we have other options. I was not all that thrilled when we picked up Lloyd and Randle El (c'mon now look at their career stats) . I did think that Archuleta would be a good match with Taylor. The team that we have assembled will never be a contender so we may as well start from scratch. A young team with a sprinkle of Vets that is rebuilding can win 4 games. Adrian Peterson (we may have a record just that mesed up to get him if he comes out), Santana Moss, Chris Cooley would be a good start on offense (I am not that sold on Campbell). We need a big receiver that can catch passes over the middle a Portis for Roy Williams of Detroit trade would be ideal because we need a possessions guy...I know that these thing are not going to happen and we will have Portis next year but I can dream. I hope that the team is not going to let him go out like this i agree, i wouldnt say the team is the one thats letting him go out like this. But please gibbs make this next season a good one. last year was the second season under an offense which was the first for this team in a long time. It was also the first year in a while there wasnt many changes made and there wasnt much hype surrounding the team. this year, a new offense comes in as well as a bunch of changes, and the hype machine is up and running extra hard. And like usual it doesnt work out right. Next year we will again be going into the 2nd year of an offense and the hype will not be nearly as big for this team. Next year, make it happen gibbs I have faith that you can turn it around starting next year. If you cant though, Im sorry but I will have to join those who say thank you for the memories but your time is up.

NCSkinzFan
First off I want to say I'm a Portis-supporter for certain and have never had any doubts about him and what he has done for this team. I acknowledge that he is the better pass blocker and a faster back than Betts, but with that being said, while watching the game today I started thinking maybe Betts is more the type of back needed in Gibbs' running scheme (pulling guards while the ball carrier waits for them to develop holes in front of him). Portis has said of himself that he doesn't like having to wait on blockers to pull and get out in front because it slows him down and he's not a patient enough back for that. Betts seems to do better in this scheme with a HUGE game today and another great performance last week. I dunno, just somethin I thought about. Any thoughts?
