ESPN - Reeling Redskins awash in troubles

Yeah the updated sidebar quotes "Safety" Shawn Springs. (And the quote makes it sound like Springs wasn't the anonymous source.)

I know right, "Safety" Shawn Springs. Maybe this guy has really got the inside scoop on the team. He even knows when guys change positions before the players. How do you make that mistake? The new info looks like it was updated by an ESPN intern. Was this even done by the same writer?

In any event, there was a lot of stuff in this article that was either mildly amusing/ shocking or made you go "figures" and "I knew it".

He lost his job due to his ego, the players and other coaches hated him and he tried to convince everyone in Buffalo that no one there knew what football was till he became the coach. There are many stories in tne buff papers about some of the comments he made that were just flat out wrong and stupid.

I have always been worried of him taking over after Joe leaves, after this article I do not have to worry about it

This has been my main concern also since the day he was brought here. He seems to just turn people off with his ego after a while.

I think maybe he would be ideally suited to be a college head coach where it is more a system oriented game to a certain extent.

Maybe Alabama will go after him this offseason and offer a huge contract...

I haven't read the entire 15+ pages of the thread due to travelling and a lack of time so I don't know if this has been postulated already or not but here goes...

I don't think there was "a" player quoted for this article. Rather, I suspect the author interviewed two or perhaps even several players and got snippets of info. from each that he knitted together to write the story. Therefore, the one player attribution was probably just a distractor to throw suspicion off any one of the sources since different parts of the story would point to different players.

Specifically, my best guess would be much of the info. came from R. Clark, with the rest being provided by some combo of Archuletta and Springs with Taylor as an outside shot. However, I doubt Taylor would do this. Williams was staunchly in his corner during his "Let me introduce you to my little friend" debacle and I just don't see him being that disloyal.

The only fly in the ointment for this theory is that from a journalism ethics standpoint, I'm not sure whether such a tactic passes muster or if one is required to quote multiple sources when there's more than one. :2cents:

Thats the thing about articles like this though. He could have made the whole thing up too. The anon source thing is sketchy whenever they use it anyway. Whether it was one source or 5 it doesn't really matter when he doesn't say who said it.

Yeah, this article was in the news about the Redskins and the negativity within the organization. However, I think it did motivate the Redskins players and coaches as if the article gave the whole Redskins organization " CPR ". With the win against Carolina last Sunday, I hope the Redskins can stay consistent and produce week in and week out and rack up the win column.

Friend was on the Riggins show yesterday (and again today) and specifically stated that there was ONE source and that it was a current player.

I remember last year when I said that I did not like the arrogant ****y attitude from GW and how it will hurt the defense in the long run. I also remember saying that GW was not Head Coach Potential.

What is even more funny is that after I said that, I had numerous people on this site tell me that I was not a real Redskin fan and that I had no idea what I was talking about.

Well guess what..? Two things; One) I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. How could we not see this coming? The writing was on the wall. GW is an @$$.

Two) I am a real fan. I love my team. Just ask my friends about how passionate I am about the Redskins.

Here is the thing. You can be a fan and not be a Homer. I will not be a homer. This organization has SERIOUS problems. Things are bad. But guess what..? That’s right I still love my Redskins. Always have and always will.

Being a Redskin fan is like having a child that is always in and out of jail. You find yourself asking why I put up with it and why am I always there for them. You want to believe, but deep down inside you know that they are only going to disappoint you again. But you do believe, maybe, just maybe, some day things could be the way they use to be.

You are right on bro, that is a good analogy.

I was wondering how many people read that , but it looks to me that there is a whole lot of nothing going on , Coach Williams you need to check yourself, don't make the same mistake twice, remember the Bills,,,,,,,,, Jackson look out this is our team and we don't take to spoild momma boy's too well.......you guys can be replaced and you know this,,,, but that explains why Carlos was playing 10 yards deep on a 2 yard drop , Coaches playing grab a-- with each other time to rethink about this Williams crew............................

Thank God this guy wrote this story. I felt early on this season that the defense wasn't buying in to Williams plans (they have too much talent to play the way they have so far). And what do you know? they play inspired D after Gibbs throws a fit. I don't care what others say, we need to promote Gibbs to the Front Office---let him create his own position---and then bring in a new coach (one who appreciates and cultivates/develops the players like S. Taylor) and take it from there. We are p*ssing away too much money and talent every year.
