pjfootballer Posted November 22, 2006 Share Posted November 22, 2006 I don't really think this is that far fetched. Cowher's contract is up at the end of the year. He takes 2007 off to re-energize. Gibbs will coach us next year in 2007 and then if he doesn't get the team to where he wants them to be, he may call it quits, go back to NASCAR and then Cowher takes over for 2008. Washington is the closest to his NC home (unless the Panthers fire John Fox or Atlanta fires Mora, Jr.). I like what Zooney said that Cowher has a good track record of getting home grown talent (via the draft) and not overpaying for talent. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

We don't know what to do with those anyway, so why not? As far as the Steelers having a bad year. Well, they also seem to reload better than most teams after losing talent. I fully expect them to be in the mix next year. But I could also see Marty saying don't do it -- or, maybe, take the money and run. If that happens, what kind of Cowher are we going to get? He'll want to get out after a winning season, and if he's tight with Marty, why would he come here? I can see Cowher eventually ending up in Atlanta.
