monkforhall
14-2 next year, Saunders offense will finally take off. Campbell's the next star. I already can't wait for next year. Defense will be back to form. Need to find our next Dexter Manley.

USS Redskins
I still dont understand why anyone thought this was a good team. Brunell and the rest of the offense were horrible in the playoffs against good teams. The Defense kept them in it for the stretch run and won the Tampa game. PRE-Season was SOOOOO Telling. They were BRUTAL! And it carried over to the Regular Season. I optimistically thought with the Skins schedule that they would be 9-7..... now I am hoping for 6-10. I pray they do better next year but they have to find a way to fix the D - there is allot of work to be done.

Cincycowboy
Why because you're looking for a real NFL RB and real NFL Safety? :laugh:As for the original question. This year was the first time in my adult life that I drank the :koolaid: and swallowed hard. That will not happen again. I will always love this team and you will occassionally here me make the call for a Superbowl strictly because I am a fan and a homer. But I will not go parading around saying Superbowl in every other sentence like I have this year that's for certain. Then again, it all depends on how the rest of the season plays out too. Does this team start to gel under a new QB, or continue to fall apart? :whoknows: If you could get 2 first day picks for portis, you know, the RB that seems to constantly get injured, would you do it? If taylor got you several picks on day one, why not do it? Safeties don't win you superbowls, good oline and dline, QB do. Redskin fans are so enamored of taylor for his big hits that you are blinded by his lack of coverage ability. He misses tons of tackles to boot. Portis is agreat back but he breaking down. I am just trying to get some thoughtful debate for you guys. You can't trade anyone else because no one on your team is worthy of the money they are being paid. You can't cut everyone because of the back loaded contracts. You guys have 1 option and that is unload some of your star players and build from the bottom up

Just wow. Now I know you want a good safety after watching Royboy there for too long. And I also know you are in dire need of a true star at RB but you really should be pleading your case with our FO if this is the way you want to go. Seriously,no offense, but that's why you're a Dallas fan. Portis breaking down? Why? Because he got injured, this year? Taylor not a good safety because he is having an off year in coverage? Hello, earth to Cowgirls fan....you know who #31 is on your team? Has he ever covered anyone? This isn't about unloading anyone. It's about expectations and I need to see some clear changes (not in personnel as much as in attitude). Face it, your team isn't that good and yet they have rallied behind a so-so rookie QB and are playing well, right now. We have our troubles here in DC maybe, but there is nothing that a Cowboys fan can tell me that can convince me you are in better shape than us on strictly a personnel level. Old coaches that are nearing the end, your OL still stinks, our is ok, your RB wishes he was as good as either one of our 2 backups. Your WRs are a headcase and an aging veteran, our will only get better with time and our young QB. Your DBs are having as bad a year as ours, well almost. Your LBs are decent and your front 4 not much better than ours. So, where exactly do you have the upperhand in personell Mr. Jones? Now, I understand that you are riding high at the moment after your big win at home against the Colts. But come back this offseason, and talk to me about what changes need to be made to both our teams. Until then, I'll shut you out.
Skins4481
I dont think any of us will ever appraoch another season the same. I expected SuperBowl and DEFINITELY playoffs. Now, I'm looking forward to a top 10 pick. My dreams have been shattered. Never will I put so much blind faith in the Redskins before a season again. phatboy41
with the same excitement as always. I never chant superbowl, but I will be itching for the first game to start right after superbowl is over. I love the Redskins! I think they will make more sense of their off season than last time becuase we all saw how this season turned out.

SkinsFTW
They just need to get a good GM in there and if Gibbs goes get a young HC similar to Gibbs when he first started out. If Saunders is staying then find a OL coach that can provide a scheme that works with his offense. Offer Lovie Smith a couple Mil to be our DC. Stop over paying free agents and letting our good players sign with other teams. The current Redskins can't be that loyal after seeing all these guys like Smoot, Pierce, Clark, and even Bailey get shrugged off. I wouldn't have paid Bailey that much money though. Yeah, you are right, this is the first time Portis has been injured...wait...wasn't he hurt last year? Roy sucks in coverage, that's why he is in the top 3 in interceptions. How many does Sean T have? I just wish you would be honest and realize you guys have no future. YOur team is old and pathetic. I'm just think you guys can be worthy of this great divsion if you would make a few moves. Troy Fakeman
How will I approach next year...with the LaVar attitude "Show me something" As far as Cincyboy...and his comment on Portis being injured last year...yah...he was hurt last year...and still posted 1500 yards...what else you got? Let me ask you something...if I were to call you on the phone, right now, would you fake your Texas accent? You know...to sound like a 'real' Dallas fan? I'm just think you guys can be worthy of this great divsion if you would make a few moves. I guess you are destined to take the place of the departed cardinals every year Portis was banged up last year, not HURT. You call us old, but your center is your youngest O-lineman and he's what, late 20's. Your 2 starting receivers are 32 and 33. Don't give me crap about those GREAT young receivers in waiting. They've done nothing yet and were not highly touted by other teams in the draft. I'm not saying we are in great shape, but everyone has been putting us in cap hell for years and we know how to get around it. Interceptions don't tell the whole story of coverage skills. I'll admit that ST has played bad this season and he does go for the big hit too often. But anyone can get INT's off tipped passes, ill-advised throws or dumb luck. So Roy has 3 INT's. Did he get them on tight one-on-one coverage? Maybe, maybe not. Both teams secondaries are young and the LB's are young. It's true we need a better pass rush. Both have great yound TE's and RB's. Our O-line is not as old as yours. Both O-lines are THIN once you get past the starters. So, see, don't go spouting off things you know nothing about. Just saying we are in bad shape without knowing the whole story is just not smart. Plus, every year, players rework contracts to get under the cap. That's why football contracts aren't guaranteed. Oh and by the way, I'd say its a PUSH with regards to the kicking game since ours has no leg and yours finds a way to hit the uprights all the time. skinsmania123
The truth is Joe Gibb's unfortunately is responsible for a lot of these personnel decisions and they have not panned out well IMO..I will always contend that the Brunell signing was ill advised. He was let go by Jacksonville because he was out of gas, and Joe completely ignored that and revived his career. We trade away players that we desperately needed like a Clark and a Bailey ( not to say CP is bad but we gave away way too much for what I felt was a comparable trade at the time.) Never should have let Smoot walk...because look what we have back there and what we are paying??? There is no logic to a lot of these moves. Gibb's is not Bethard, and he desperately needs someone of his stature to evaluate players. Then he needs to get rid of Saunders, take back the Offense, and get some decent players for D. Legitimate pass rushers, a decent corner and another SS...and AA needs to give some cash back and retire.

Okay, to be serious about this.....Yes Mr. Gibbs does have last say in all football matters but that being said he's but his trust in Cerratto, Williams, and Saunders to bring in guys they feel they need to fit into THEIR systems. This is their first year in those systems, yes some of them may turn out to be busts but after last season's woes I'd rather than try to build on what success they did have and make the team better. I was so/so on this season, Brunell learing a new offense in the twilight of his career. In the off-season I think you would've been hard pressed to find anyone, anywhere, Redskin fans or not, to think the additions they made this year weren't going to make them even better than last. Well we were all wrong, the offense is taking longer to "master" than thought and the defense is horrible, they've had injuries, even the little depth they have got hurt so I think some of that does fall on getting some more talent in here but you can only address so may problems each season. We were horrible at WR last year, I think we lost too many games on deep balls down the seem or middle of the field. Maybe Williams misread AA's abilities or how he'd fit into the system but with all the injuries it's hard to say. We'll see how we finish the year out, does the D give up a ton of yards like against TB week in week out or do they sure themselves up and show that we only need to add a player or two and some depth. I think we'll be okay next year, not huge expectations but another development year for Campbell and look for big things the following year.
