REDSKINZ-RIDEORDIE
Wow. The Cardinals and or Bengals shouldve picked LaDanian Tomlinson.
dfbovey
Whats funnier is the Cardinals, Browns, and Bengals passed on LT. Look what he's doing tonight. What's more funny is that the Falcons could have had Tomlinson and Drew Brees. Instead of just Mike Vick.
rm8899
Hey at least at one time we actually had draft picks!
JerseyGator
Well, the Giants drafted Ron Dayne at #11 in 2000 when Trung Canidate was still available (drafted #31 by the Rams). :point2sky
THEface
http://www.drafthistory.com/years/2001.html makes me sick Keep in mind that Rod GArdner was a phenom in college. During his senior season he was a first team all american. We don't have psychics in our front office, but if we did then this wouldn't be excusable. It was a good pick at the time. I mean, look at the Bengals. They took T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the 7th round. I'm sure they didn't think he would turn out as good as he did. No one really knows in the draft. Just my :2cents:. dfbovey
Could be worse. The Browns could have had LT, Steve Smith and Chad Johnson. All picked within 11 picks of their first, second, and third round picks. Ouch. If the Browns had picked them, they'd all be injury prone busts. That's just what happens to their draft picks. Ron_Man
Well, to be honest I liked RG when he was here, at first anyway. That man could catch anything you threw at him! He was a pretty good blocker as well. But once Spurrier came and wanted fast recievers his activity dropped, I was pretty mad at that. Darnarian McCants was a pretty good reciever as well but I think Spurrier screwed him too..
KingRex
Then again, the Eagles snagged Fred Ex. Everyone makes mistakes.
panel
All the people that trashed the Chargers for trading down for Tomlinson and Brees instead of Vick look stupid now too.

MoeRedskins
http://www.drafthistory.com/years/2001.html makes me sick You could do this for any draft. hindsight is 20/20.
panel
If you go back and over anaylize any pick you could say anyone messed up, I mean, you could argue that we passed up on, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Eric Johnson, and Keith Adams because we drafted Mario Monds, but it is impossible to tell who will be good, and who will not. AND, prehaps if WE drafted the player, he would have never learned the game the same way, seen the same playing time, play the right system or what ever, and be a bust with us. FrFan
Looking back won't bring us anything good, just making us feel a bit worse. Now it's time to learn from our mistakes and move forward to a brighter future. Hail
DiscoBob
I wish we could go back and take steve hutchinson with our first pick....especially in light of this year......uhg...
TheGreek1973
Steve Hutchinson Nate Clements Reggie Wayne Any of these three would have been been HUGE money.
EersSkins05
That is a remarkably deep draft.
kingdaddy
How did we miss Steve Smith and Chad Johnson? I guess even Santana! You got it. Instead of Moss, Smith or Johnson, we took Rod Gardner. This is a good post because if we had taken Smith or Johnson we wouldn't have had to sign Randle El or trade for Lloyd. We then could have signed Hutchinson this past offseason who we could have drafted over Gardner in the first place.
Slateman
Well, I mean, we got Moss, so who cares? Frankly, I never thought Gardner was that bad. Hutchinson would have been amazing. Nate Clements would be good too, but corner wasn't a first round need. Deuce would have ruled, but at the time, Stephen Davis was in his prime. Yea, Heap or Crumpler would have been good, but who woulda thunk it? And of course Kris Jenkins or Chad Johnson. We could have traded back and gotten them in the late 1st round. Look, it could have been worse. We could have gotten Freddie Mitchell
Guest sith lord
This team has been lost ever since the days of Bobby Beathard.
Lombardi's_kid_brother
This is pretty much a meaningless exercise. Even teams who are fantastic at drafting have picks that they later regret. This team's current woes have nothing to do with Rod Gardener.
NoVaSkins21
At least then with Schottenheimer, this team was building towards something before Snyder decided he needed more control and fired Marty after one season.
