ashburnskinsfan
Wallops Island on the Delmarva peninsula will launch a Minotaur rocket on the morning of December 11. The Minotaur is made up of Minuteman II first and second stages with two Pegasus upper stages and payload fairing on top of it. It won't quite be on the scale of a Shuttle launch but a pretty spectacular sight if you happen to be in the area early that morning. This will be the first East Coast launch of a Minotaur. The others have been from Vandenberg AFB. And for those who are interested ... here's what a User Manual for a rocket looks like : http://www.orbital.com/NewsInfo/Publications/Minotaur_Guide_HiRes.pdf
Dan T.
Cool, what time of day will it be? If a nighttime launch, I imagine you could see it from way off. . .

It's scheduled for dawn to 10am. A Dawn launch would be spectacular too. It should be visible from DC, weather permitting. http://www.wff.nasa.gov/tacsat2/
