Do we have our first round pick for next year?

I think that the deal for Duckett was that if we finished ahead of Denver (or Atlanta I dunno) , we had to give them our first round pick, and if not we had to give up our third round pick. We obviously know how that turned out.
Haha no, this has been talked about a thousand times, so you can search for the specifics of this deal.

As for the trade with Denver, we only swap places with them in the first round if we have to pick lower than 20th.

That's also not correct. If we have a top ten pick and they have a pick in the bottom 10, we will not be swapping first rounders. They'd get a 3rd round pick this year and a 4th round pick next season.

The deal is set up to give them a certain value and prevents the Redskins from being screwed over that way. There are several possibilities with this trade based on the point value draftpick trade chart.

Our front office needs this provision with every trade we make when there are draft picks involved.

I don't really have a problem with the trades the team has made over the past few years.

Moss for Coles straight up. - Worked out great for us.

Portis for Bailey and a 2nd round pick. - People can argue that maybe a 2nd rounder was too much... and I say look at what Portis has done and his age... the 2nd rounder was worth adding.

Lloyd for a 3rd and a 4th - I think Lloyd will be fine in the long run, and you can't judge him on his numbers at this point. Not when Brunell was the guy throwing him the ball.

Duckett for a 3rd round value. - Trade is starting to look better now that we actually need him.

Really, trading for Mark Brunell is the only move I don't like. And the draft day trade for Campbell is something that won't be answered for a while. Not until he plays for a couple years and we see what he's got.

I still consider this an embarassment to our orginization. Any good GM would not trade a top corner for a top running back straight up, let alone giving up a second round pick to boot. If I am Denver, I am in constant contact with our front office. :anon:

I agree. RB's are much easier to find than top notch corners.

Also the duckett trade seems to be very bad as well. Duckett will not resign with the skins.

3rd and 4th for Lloyd? No way was that a good trade for you either. I'm not sure Lloyd is worth a 4th rounder, let alone a 3rd and a 4th.

Coles for Moss was a good one though. Both teams seem to be happy about it.

The way I see it, we were lucky to get anything for Bailey. He would have left in free agency so I kind see it as if we got Portis for a 2nd round pick. The Redskins weren't in a position of power when they were making this deal. Bailey was franchise tagged and the Redskins needed to unload him.

Depends. If Betts plays well and ends up going to another team as a possible starter, the Redskins will move to sign Duckett.

Time will tell. If you are basing your opinion off of this year's performance with an inapt Brunell throwing him the ball... then it's a bit unfair.

Please explain how. Why would Duckett sign here when he could be the starter elsewhere?

Why would a team sign Duckett as their starter? He lost his job to Dunn, then lost his backup role to Norwood. At this point he's proven to be a change of pace or short yardage back and that's it. What has he done that will make teams line up trying to sign him as a starter?

IMO, either Betts or Duckett will remain with the team... depends on their performance over the next 7 games. One of them will go off to another team, but not both.
