Davros
... running up the middle the way Gibbs likes to do it. Just look at the Philly game. Betts is a master at running between the tackles. Just watch, he's going to put up great numbers if he doesn't have to split carries with Duckett too much. I think you guys ought to trade Portis to somebody and make Betts your #1 back. Davros
You mean to tell me you don't think Betts is better than Portis at running up the middle? Betts YPC is better than Portis for 2 of the past 3 years 2004 - Portis: 3.8 Betts 4.1 2005 - Portis 4.3 Betts 3.8 2006 - Portis 4.1 Betts 4.

TheBigLebanese
Betts is an excellent backup, although CP is wayyyy too big a part of this offense.
flexxskins
I'm not going to say that Duckett is better than anybody, but don't sleep on him. He is going to shock alot of people.
meek
I posted this in another thread but I think it bears repeating. Betts' career average of 4.1 ypc is the exact same as Portis' average during his 3 years in Washington. In terms of rushing up the middle, Betts is averaging a whopping 5.4 ypc compared to CP's 4.7 in 2006. http://stats.globesports.com/fb/playerstats.asp?id=5942&team=28 Not to take anything away from Clinton, but Betts is going to surprise a lot of people. Skins11
... sucking? Just kidding.. I like Betts... but Portis is better than him (and almost all runningbacks in the league) in every facet of the game. The only person that I would take over Portis is Ladanian, and that's a push. kevinklein
Betts is a better reciever out of the backfield. He isn't better than Portis at anything else.

SC3
Portis is a more versatile back than Betts. Betts is good running up the middle. He doesn't seem to maneuver as well as Portis and doesn't have the same level of vision. Betts did impress me in the Philly game and has been showing steady improvement in recent games. Raub
I'd like to see Duckett get a chance to be the feature back and keep Betts working 3rd downs.
IChiefLikeCP26
Betts is not better than CP in any facet of the game. I believe Duckett is better than Betts. Of course his YPC is more he gets to run with only 7 and sometime 6 in the box. Portis was our offense last year and one of the highlights of ours this season. Betts is a free agent next season and I don't even know if he likes it here.
Insomniac
seriously, you should quit jumping on this guy, because he's right. portis is my favorite guy on the team, bu hitting the pile for a 0 gain is not his power, he is an outside guy. what gibbs should do, is call portis plays to the outside, and betts on short yardage. it's a fact, and definitely something this dude shouldn't be shredded about. watch the games, clinton sucks up the middle. and no, it's not the line. he sucked up the middle in denver, watch some footage. meek
Betts is a free agent next season and I don't even know if he likes it here. What would lead you to this conclusion? I met with the guy two summers back while he was training in AZ and he seemed about as happy as a guy could be to be a Skin. Now if we turn our back on him like we have other solid players who came up through the organization, then thats a different story.
-mando-
portis has a patience problem which is why he isnt that great at going up the middle of the line, he wants to go straight through before waiting for a hole to develop, if there is a hole there quickly he will burn any defense but if there isnt, he hits the line and barely goes anywhere...one strength betts has over portis is his patience which allows him to wait for a hole to develop than hit it and get a good 4 yards more consistently but portis' big play ability is what puts him in the top tier of nfl rb's, rbs who get you a good 3-4 yards a carry come by often, but find one that can get you a td on any given play from any given distance, and you have someone special

He is too hesistant and lacks a lot of vision. His runs up the middle are great because he just follows the design but the stretch plays is where Betts is extremely lacking as he can't find those holes.
