MadMonkey
I didn't see any other threads on this... But on the local DC NBC news reports that they have contacted Snyder and are working to try to get the Redskins back to the district playing in a new domed stadium after they tear down RFK EDIT: uploaded news cast
phishisthegreatstuff
yea supposedly it will hold 125k and have a retractable roof so we can get superbowls in dc. I would be all for it as long as we have grass... none of that turf ****.

jtyler42
I would be all for this...The team has really fallen off since they left DC... If we get the retractable roof I hope that we never use it except for the SB and that we still keep the grass field not the turf...
Capt'n Obvious
FedEx is a relatively new stadium. I dont see the need to do this. I personally would rather not have a dome stadium. 125k? Wow.
playboy1972
I always said that the land where FedEx is located would bring a good share of money with that new metro stop at Morgan Boulevard. Hell they knock down and build casino's in one year. I know a stadium is different but it might be easier. That would be better than bringing back Joe Gibbs. But if Snyder doesn't stop trying to run the football side of the operation, we will have a whole lot of BLACKOUTS. I like the idea but DC government "CAN NOT BE TRUSTED." apickmans
Are there any links reporting this?? Sounds like a crazy idea especially with Fed Ex being only 10 years old, if that.

Warhead36
The way the DC Council was ****ing up with the Nationals new stadium, I very seriously doubt Snyder would trust them. Why would he abandon a relatively new stadium?
RedskinsFan72
This is pure speculation, no reliable news articles or sources. As it happens I work with a director of some sorts with Six Flags. We were chatting the other day and I mentioned that Dan Snyder wanted to move the Redskins closer to DC. Her eyes lit up and said "Oh, maybe thats why they havent closed the Maryland Six Flags" Apparently The MD Six Flags isnt profitable. They have been closing and selling off all the Six Flags that arent and havent been profitable. EXCEPT the MD one, which happens to be 15 minutes out of DC. Could be Snyder already has his land for the new stadium, its just a matter of closing and razing the current Six Flags there. Time will tell. Wow. Snyder has been pushing for this for years now. He wants the super bowl BADLY in DC. even though it doesnt seem true with fed ex there, it has been talked about before. Also, with Dallas building a stadium that is supposed to be bigger than fed ex, i could see it happening. It there a thread or any other information on this? there was a really big thread a couple weeks back about this, but at that point in time it was just speculation from something said in the elliot in the morning show

I like the idea but DC government "CAN NOT BE TRUSTED." supposedly that land is already claimed by the county for after the redskins leave. They want to build a big mega mall on that land. And supposedly will offer the skins a LARGE ammount of money to get the land
TheUSkins
Also, with Dallas building a stadium that is supposed to be bigger than fed ex, i could see it happening. Well if that is the case we better build a bigger stadium!!! Dallas can't beat us!!! EVERYTHING is a competition
bmw2301
that would be nice, but it is kind of ridiculous because FEDex is so new, but I'm sure they can come up with something else to use it for.....maybe....
CM916
We only built FedEx where it is because the DC government screwed up last time when JKC was prepared to foot the entire bill. Supposedly Synder isn't very happy with the stadium but he will have to negotiate out of 30 year contracts to get it moved. However, stadiums take a very long time to get off the ground so it makes sense if they are planning now for a move in five or ten years. I absolutely hate domes though, football is meant to played outside, rain or snow. We better not immitate Dallas either with that damn hole in the roof. If you need a dome to get a superbowl and the resulting income, fine, but it better not be used for anything else.

It would be nice if the 200 level could actually see the game

Warhead36
I still don't get how FedEx is the only stadium to still be using an ANALOG system. I mean you have to be kidding me. FedEx has so many issues...

It's amazing how such an insightful point could be made in such an eyesore of a post. That is a very interesting take on the situation. FedEx maybe the largest stadium in the NFL but I agree with the people that say it lacks character. You'd hardly know the Redskins played there if you visited the stadium during the week when there wasn't a game.
