BigRobP42
With Campbell in there, if he can keep drives alive by taking more chances, he'll keep the defense off the field longer than we've seen in previous weeks. If he throws a pick or fumbles the ball, and the opposing team gets good field position, they'll score in fewer plays, leading the defense to not have to be on the field as long. So the rankings should at least move up a bit! lol. thought that'd be funny.
DWARF-HOG
Don't get me wrong, I am hoping that JC succeds, but you know he is not going to be mistake free. My question is when are we going to get some turnovers? 0 in the last 5 games. Another question: Will Williams strart Rocky over Warrick soon, I would like to see how he does.:helmet:

Ball control wasnt the problem vs. the Eagles, they scored on us fast. Ball control is only valuable if you controll the ball and score.

I read an article in the WP about it last week and basically the guy argued that since we've been in such a turnover drought in the first half of the season we will light it up in the second half. He said it's about parity - everything will even out at some point. If it doesn't, we'll finish with a franchise record low for turnovers. I'm hoping we even it out. JohnLockesGhost
The good field position we've been giving to other teams has everything to do with our lousy special teams.
pjfootballer
Some of you guys are way too overconfident in JC. I'm glad the change was made and I have 2 FF teams, but I did not pick him up. Not that crazy. One team I start Peyton Manning (enough said) and my 2nd team I start Drew Brees. I would be satisfied with 17-29, 225+ yards, 2 TD's and 1 INT. Would be a decent start for him. Ummm, please dont hope we even out. We are also way under the average for coughing the ball up. If averages mean we are going to get a bunch of turnovers, it means we are going to give up a lot of turnovers too.

Ball control wasnt the problem vs. the Eagles, they scored on us fast. Ball control is only valuable if you controll the ball and score. Yup. This "Brunell can't keep drives alive therefore the defense suffers" is a total fallacy. Has been all year. The defense has been giving up huge drives all game long every week. Not just at the end of games when they're all tuckered out, but even in the first half, even when we are winning the time-of-possession battle. The defense flat-out stinks. The only way Campbell can hope to mitigate that is by scoring tons of points.

Besides, I am hesitant to criticize defense much as they have carried the team for the past several years, and yes it is a different D now. Brunell has been averaging what, 150 yards a game? I'll be happy if Campbell just looks comfortable and makes some quality throws. It's going to take time -- he's been here two years but because of Gibbs' love of Brunell and Saunders' love of Collins, he has gotten barely any work with the starters in practice. Besides, I am hesitant to criticize defense much as they have carried the team for the past several years, and yes it is a different D now. The point is that the defense is not sitting on the field for long stretches of time because the offense isn't holding onto the ball. Our average time of possession is 29:53. You mean to tell me that because the other team has the ball for an average of 14 more seconds than we do our defense has been justified in collapsing every week? The defense was great for two years. That doesn't mean they don't stink this year though. Even with creaky Brunell at the helm our offense has been a stronger unit. Do they have 3 point games? Yes. And yes, that's bad. But the defense plays that badly every week. The best game the defense had all season long, by FAR, was allowing 15 points against the Texans. Did you know that the top five teams in the league AVERAGE that amount or less per game? If you all think 3 point games are demoralizing to the defense, how do you think giving up 24 points every week affects the offense? Probably pretty badly. Hopefully Campbell will be the next Great Find, and we'll be scoring 30 points a game every game. With this defense, that'll get us to 8-8. How ready do you have to be to handball off for 3, screen for 3, then roll left and throw the ball out of bounds?

Except he actually does it when it counts, not stat-padding after it is over. Or setting an NFL record with 20some straight screen passes. I swear they should put an asterisk on that record. TheU2689
im definantly rooting for JC to have an awesome day on sunday. but at the same time, if hes going to make mistakes, i want him to make them in these final 7 games, not a bunch, but to make mistakes and learn from them. I mean you guys remember Peyton Manning's first year, he wasnt that good. but he learned from all of that and look at him now. Along with Eli, he wasnt great either rookie year and look at him. But JC i think will surprise alot of us on sunday and get us alllll hyped up

Hey look on the bright side. Gibbs will have to love Jason after this game to because he will at least be a 1 game veteran! Seriously, I don't think Jason Cambell was completely ignored. He started taking snaps the week before the skins played Dallas. I think this decision was made then on the bases of if we lose either game Jason would start. Al Saunders probably would have rather started Todd Collins do to his knowledge of the playbook. Give Jason a break. I will be cheering my #$# off if he throws a touchdown pass. He is a proven Winner. I do believe he will excel at this level.
