michael_33
I believe Campbell's 6'4"??(May be wrong on that)but he's much taller none-the-less.. I think one of Brunell's biggest problems was he has trouble seeing over the Offensive line, which eliminates his line of site..Course not saying that's his only problem (noodle arm),but it sure played a big part of his lack of confidence! I think with Campbell under Center and his pretty good size will allow him to go over the top more and attack the middle of the field, which should suprise every team! Add that plus his ability to run for first downs on those 3rd and 3's and such could keep our drives alive thus providing more FG opportunities, than those that Brunel just chucks out of bounds and then we punt! Of course I also realize his inexperience will also play into affect and knowledge of the offense as well... But IMO?I think we have just wasted all the talent we had this whole season(at least on the offensive side of the ball)for the first 9 games of the year... Unfortunately,It's probably too late for a playoff run(unless we win out ),But I honestly think we can get to at least 8-8 and possibly 9-7 to claim ourselves of having a winning season! :2cents: And then....we are really going to be kicking ourselves for going with Brunell! Oh...I mean the coaches will... Don't be suprised if this offense explodes from here on out...I know I won't be! HTTR... :eaglesuck :gaintsuck :dallasuck "I guess there's only 1 thing left to do" "win the whole Plucking thing"..(Major league)

NotInOurHouse
i think what will help most is the offensive line will be put in the right positions by JC being a right handed qb. Samuels back at blind spot is better than Jansen in blind spot.

JC appears to be 5/6 inches taller than MB when they are standing next to each other
Oldskool
Brunell is listed at 6'1" Campbell is listed as 6'4" Having seen the trend of taller (6'4"+) QB's coming out of college and performing well, I think that this will help him be able to stay in the pocket and make throws down the middle. Hauss
I think his height will help him in the off season on the Redskin basketball team. I just want him to be accurate and have his timing down.
mistertim
Height certainly helps, but not having it doesn't = crappy QB. Drew Brees is only 6'0 and he is having quite a good year.
bubba9497
that is if you like 6'5" QBs with a rocket laser arm

Drew Brees is only 6'0 and he is having quite a good year. yeah, but one thing i noticed about brunell- he always looked like he was sort of half wincing/ half squatting like he was about to get hit. i wondered how he could see over the O line when he's only 6 1 to begin with, scrunching down like that. Betterman
Forget the height, I'm just hoping he has some cohones Yep, his poise in the pocket will help more than his height. In college, he wasn't afraid to throw the long ball but he also made very good decisions. I believe the biggest difference everyone will notice from the start in JC's mobility and how he senses pressure and avoids the pass rush. His height and conditioning are a plus but not his greatest attributes. He's still a rookie but i've seen ALL of his college starts....he's going to be a big PLUS to our offense and team as a whole. SlinginSammy HOF '63
I think one of Brunell's biggest problems was he has trouble seeing over the Offensive line, which eliminates his line I beg to differ. Mark's biggest problem was throwing the ball past the line.
BAFGA
Campbell's height, strength, mobility and youth all are positives. Brunell can't throw a pass 20 yards down field. Why do you think they have Randle El throw those deep option passes? Because his arm is MUCH stronger than Brunell's. They've tried that pass in 2 straight games. azmodeus13
His height will help for a couple of reasons - His throwing across the middle when the passing lanes are not as wide open as they had to be for Mark His ability to see smaller receivers and his size will make it harder for him to be sacked His mobility will help him where Mark's used to be an asset... he can roll out better and has scored running at Auburn (8 tds) - while he isn't a speedy QB like Vick - it can be more of an option that it became for Mark towards the end which will (if he is called upon to run it under circumstances) make DL respect him more than the target Mark became
SkinsFTW
He might make the OL look better than it has by standing in the pocket. But if not he can learn. Brunell has been in the league for 1.5 decades and still doesn't do it.
DWinzit
Armstrength, mobility, not looking down one receiver and balls come ahead of height, IMO!
TubeAmpNut
I'd personally rather see JC throw deep for an INT than brunell throwing short on 3rd and long resulting in a punt.
Zen-like Todd
I think Campbell measured 6'4.5 at the combine, and I think Brunell is more like 6'0.5.

Samuels back at blind spot is better than Jansen in blind spot. And as far as I can tell JC doesn't have tunnel vision and/or blinders on ...... so maybe the ball can get spread around now ... maybe even stretch the field !!! Don't get me wrong I've always liked MB, but he tends to look for SM way too much when other receivers are open .. including Cooley !!!
ThomasRoane
It will help and it will open up the playbook a bit. If you've studied MB you could see that when not in the shotgun (where he had could get away from the O-line and see better) MB pretty much always threw out routes. As his arm got worse he couldn't throw anything over 10 yards without worrying about being picked. So he settled for safe checkdowns.
ThomasRoane
I'd personally rather see JC throw deep for an INT than brunell throwing short on 3rd and long resulting in a punt. No doubt! Enough of this 'let's hold on and hope the other team implodes' crap. We don't get to play Dallass every week
onedrop
JC is bigger, younger, faster has a stronger arm etc.... the problem with left handed QB's is that as they get older their mechanics become a hindrance. watch almost any lefty and you will notice that they dont look like mirror images of right handed QB's at all. their shoulders are way more square to the line of scrimmage so their pass setup looks really abnormal. this is part of the reason MB's strength is all but gone, he is squared up with the line instead of having his shoulders perpindicular to it like a righty. Robbnva
Well I think that this week they will probably keep the playcalling simple (at least for the 1st half) to see what he has. I agree with someone who posted on another thread that the 1st play should be a long pass downfield (but they probably won't because the will be afraid of an INT as the 1st play of the game)
Riggo-toni
The point about height is ULTRA-VALID in Saunder's offense. Normally, Saunders' O requires a QB to make a quick release and depends on perfect timing between the QB and WRs. Because Brunell couldn't see over the middle of the line, Gibbs last year was designing plays for him to roll out and then throw it. Those types of plays were non-existent in Saunders' playbook, and even after adjustments it meant Brunell had to spend too much time exposed in the pocket. Campbell is closer in height to Trent Green. Brunell was a WCO QB who made his bread and butter his entire career off of the horizontal passing game. WideReceiver25
I want to see JC throw down the middle. Brunell never would throw down the middle very much. I do agree about Ronde. He's the ****y Barber whenever he gets an interception.
