To Mark Brunell: Thanks for the Memories (merged)

Props to Mark for some good times and some bad times, but he always played with heart and put up with a LOT of unnecessary stuff from the fans and the media.

I hope he restructures and stays as Jasons backup and retires a Skin, I really do. Although I think he'll want a starting shot somewhere, and if he does, I wish him the best of luck.

NO ill will towards Brunell here...thanks for the memories man, I'll never forget the 2nd half of 2005!!!

I can't seem Brunell retiring as anything but a Jaguar.

Mark, now that you are not starting, I can say that I wish you the best in your non-NFL player career. If you would like to stay with the organization and help JC develop, I would more than welcome you with open arms as a coach.

Despite us calling for your head and your play severly declining the past couple years, you've accomplished more in the NFL, as a starting QB, the premier position, than most will ever do.

If Campbell can do for us what you did for Jacksonville, we will be very lucky indeed.

Wish you the best (as long as you're not playing of course :silly: )

I wanna thank Mark mainly for the 2 Dallas wins last year. He was never my first choice but since he was here I rooted him on. I'm WOMAN enough to NOT dump on him because I know it's a difficult situation he's in. I do wish him the best and will say THANX again!

Reality check folks- Mark is a scape goat for poor management. Instead of taking responsibility for their lack of management skills, they are blaming the one visibile person on the team- Mark Brunell. Read- Its all about blame, the owners need to shake things up to save them from a failed investment from the "git-go" and that is over M. Saunders and his 700 page play book. If Mr Gibbs were to step back into the actual coaching and removed M. Saunders from the management of the offense, the Redskins stats would be fantastic right now. Review Mondays Washington Post for more details concering the changes that have happened within the team. What good is a playbook and Millions of Dollars if it is costing you the "W"? Is it Brunell's fault? No- it is management not taking repsonsibility and really looking at their mistakes. The players bust their tail, including Mark Brunell, he knows what is on the line and every play called is made by the man upstairs- calling the shot, not the QB. So instead of doing the right thing, make a scape goat and blame it on the QB, even though he isn't the one calling the plays? How truly shaming by the management- they need to take responsibility for their choices made prior to this season by brining in AL Saunders- that is where the fault lays. The R-Skins when directly "Coached" by Joe Gibbs made it to the play-offs last year- the only difference MAJOR between this year and last (besides the L's) is Al Saunders- the million dollar mistake. Terminate his contract, let Joe get back into doing what he is supposed to do- "COACH" and let the Redskins win- again. Instead of idiotic plays that don't work, taking motivated players and switching their positions which they were very familiar with, to non-effective positions which limit their potentials aka- Chris Cooley- and focusing on the power houses of the team- which we all know well. It isn't about the QB, its about blame- and sure that is the business but the reality of it is- getting rid of Al Saunders and that costly mistake. Sure Brunell, messed up- this past game- but only one interception in the past six games and they bench him? This is how management acts responsible- "blame the troops when they are in command"?

Being one of the "Bench Brunell supporters", I'm happy to see JC finally in there but, there is a part of me that kinda feels sorry for Brunell. It was never personal with me, given that he is a high character guy. If anything i think this was long over due and should have been done a few weeks ago. Mark you had a great career at Jacksonville, provided some hope during last years playoff run, therefore thanks for what you have done. I hope you likewise handle this with class and help mentor JC for the remainder of the season.

Peace!

the memories of 3 and out

the memories of 3 passes over 20 yards per game

the memories of 6 losses this year.

the memories of running out of gas at the end of the season in our first post season appearance in years.

the memories of a noodle arm, super smart guy with lots of guts who's past his prime.

Ding dong.

the witch is dead.

Somewhere Patrick Ramsey is both crying and laughing his arse off right now.

Mark Brunell might just be my favorite Redskins and it's sad to see him benched. No one can doubt has character; we all saw how he handled his benching in 2004 and quietly worked his way back to becoming a damn good QB for the Skins in 2005. Unfortunately, the Saunders offense is built around precision and timing and requires a pure passer, something that Brunell is not. I hate to see Brunell go like this, but thank you Mark Brunell for the great memories and leadership.

I'd can't express how much I want you people to keep this crap out of the sincere "Thanks" for the memories thread. This isn't meant to be sarcastic. We get it. You don't like Brunell. Cut it out.

yeah, i hear you and i agree to a point. But fact remains, is that alot of this was Brunell's fault. The players knew it, the fans knew it, the media knew it, and the coaching staff knew it. The thing is that Gibbs finally grew the balls to finally bench him. Will we go to the playoffs, NO!!! The defense still needs work, and it probably will be a learning curve for him. But atleast its a start. Therefore, just like you were supportive of your boy Brunell, try showing that same support for JC.

Oh, the memories! Who could forget Brunell's sterling losing record as a starter in D.C.? And how about all of those times he bailed out the other team by not converting on third down? I think what I'll remember most is his trumped up excuse for his abysmal play in 2004 ("I had a bad hamstring, I just never mentioned it. To anyone."). But give him credit: he was one hell of a bystander during that playoff run last year. And then in the playoffs, the way he engineered the worst offensive performance ever by a winning playoff team was one for the photo album. And then just when you thought he had nothing left in the tank, he went out and took a huge dump in a winnable game against Seattle.

I can't believe anybody is celebrating this guy's tenure on the Redskins. It shows how pathetic this franchise, and many of its fans, have become.

Good riddance.

Did Ramsey get a fair shot? No.

So how can you ask "Did Ramsey do anything while he was here" when he obviously didn't get a fair shot.

And did you seriously think he had anything to do with the team making the playoffs last year? He was more detrimental to the team than he was helpful. Matter of fact he almost cost us the TB game and did cost us the Seattle game in the playoffs. Sorry but Since he's got here, he's done diddly squat for the team as far as the offense goes.

Cry me a river.

What has Mark truly done?

His presence has run out a viable starting QB from our team, forced us to spend another first round pick on a starting QB and stymied the growth of this offense due to his inability to run it efficiently.

All the blame doesnt land on Mark's shoulders though. Coach has to shoulder some of the blame too.

Sorry if I don't sound greatful, because i'm not.

Yeah Mark, Thanks for the great plays you made, all three of them(Moss Td's last year on Monday night, overtime against Jack), Thanks for all the open recivers you missed deep all the time, thank you for all the 3rd and 10 dump offs to Betts. thank you Mark , good luck and good riddance. Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.
