The reality is that he regularly calls down-the-field plays, but Brunell opts, instead for the safe, high-percentage passes near the line of scrimmage. And how do I know? I have a relative who plays on this team, sir. The players are pissed, and probably 90% of them wanted to see Brunell benched after the first Dallas game. It's not Al Saunders.And if you want to know more, let me tell you that many of the play calls you saw today were straight out the Gibbs playbook of the past two years. That's right - they were inserted into the gameplan during the mythical "submarine goes down" session that Buges likes to talk about. Saunders didn't want to call a zillion screen passes or stretch running plays against the Eagles defense because they're VERY effective on the edge and on the perimeter. He was overruled, however, by Jack Burns, Joe Bugel, Don Breaux and Joe Gibbs. Whose your "relative"? Saunders is not to blame here. The fact that he contiues to trot out that steaming pile of :pooh: known as Mark Brunell is beyond comprehension. If the Redskins head coach was anybody other than Joe Gibbs he would be fired by now. There is no accountability whatsoever on this team. All the players get a pass from him with his BS comments after the game. He has no balls whatsoever. He is the president of football operations so yes he is involved with all the players since he chooses them, and the biggest mistake he did was bring Saunders here and sign as many FA's as he did, and TJ now is the icing on the cake for terrible moves. illone Posted November 12, 2006 Share Posted November 12, 2006 I really get the sinking feeling that Al Saunders was a mistake in the sense that almost half his playbook is wasted because we don't throw down the field. If Gibbs admitted to the entire free world that he thinks Al would be better at calling plays than he would, then why would it be tough to allow Al to help pick the players for the offense? One explanation I can think of is that Saunders is too smart for his own britches and he's trying to turn water into wine with a washed up QB. Prove to the world that his sytem works. The flip side of the coin is that he's in Gibbs ear asking for a different QB. I mean it really is as if we are a ferrari with a pinto engine. Real fast looking, but will get beat by a Honda Civic. He looks like a lost old man, it's sad to watch. Who do you want to replace him with? Martz? The guy will get Campbell killed by making him block on some screen. Pete Caroll, please, the guy can't coach in the NFL, Denny Green: What a meltdown. Gibbs > 31 acive coaches. We got killed because we have no Defense, that would be Vinny the moron running things, and Gregg Williams refusing to get pressure on McRunningback, just like we let Manning have 12 seconds, Romo sits to pee or anyone else. Brunnell, he's past his prime but it is not entirely his fault. Don't get me wrong I want to see what we have in Campbell sooner rather than later, but Brunnell hasn't looked like the keystone cops on Defense. Brunell does not take himself out of plays (that would be Portis) Brunell has not missed 4+ FGs in the last three games he has played (that would be Nick Novak) Brunell does not average 39.7 yards a punt, that would be the waste of Carbon named Derek Frost! This team has holes everywhere, the OL is getting pushed around, the DL can't get pressure, our Linebackers are an achilles heel, ST has way too many 15 yarders, Springs is older than dirt, Rogers might be a nickel back at best. We have Portis taking himself out of plays and getting injured.
