zoony
Gotcha...You have to admit though, there wouldn't be "gay parades" if they were treated equally in terms of society... and that will be the case eventually. I wouldn't want to witness a gay parade either, but I just don't care if they get married. If someone in my family were gay and it woudl make them happy to be married, then so be it, good for them. It would take nothing away from my marriage to my wife. Agreed. Just let them be. All I ask is that NEITHER side rub it in my face...
jbooma
Too late! The indulgent straights have already tarnished the sanctity of marriage. Have you seen divorce rates? How about all the adultery amongst the state recognized marriages? Pervs smearing the word marriage. Hilarious!  look at Britney, what 2 marriages in 4 years and 2 kids, i see at least 5 husbands in her life oh the santicity of marriage, please
portisizzle
Marriage is strictly biblical, eh? So does that mean I'm not really married - there was no bible at my wedding. How about Muslims? How do they go about getting married? What is the history of the term marriage? Once you find this out come back and ask me the question again. Predicto
I am probably the only person here who actually knows married gay people well (although their marriage has been rendered legally void). They are the best friends my wife and I have ever had. They have been there for us through thick and thin. They are genuine committed people who love each other, have been together for decades, and deserve to have the same legal rights as the rest of us. It's easy to hate what you do not know. zoony
No, your looking down upon gay people will be seen as archaic. If anything, God created gay people and he would have to be a real @#$%wad to send them to hell all because he created them that way. Again, reading comprehension is key     Seriously MJ... are you really this dense? I said I don't approve of the homosexual lifestyle. When did I say I looked down on it? You are on fire in this thread. I can't wait to see what you respond with. :munchout: How about you listen for a change, instead of projecting what you THINK other people believe? It will be a real growth experience for you. And I don't mean that sarcastically... I really mean that. .......
OrangeSkin
My dog woofs and love Kibbles and Bits. Oh and don't play smartass. You know what my point here is. No, what exactly is your point. As far as I know, there is no evidence clearly linking attraction to animals to a person's biological makeup.
Larry
Don't worry. Liberal judges will declare the will of the people unconstitutional and have it thrown out Translation: There may come a day when people notice the words "equal protection under the law" in the US Constitution. (Obviously, the GOP needs to ammend that one, too.)

G.A.C.O.L.B.
Don't worry. Liberal judges will declare the will of the people unconstitutional and have it thrown out I hate this arguement. It was the will of the people to enslave blacks and then later segregate them from whites. The will of the people isn't always right.

Jesus speaks about divorce in the bible and how bad it is, yet he never speakes about homosexuality (most of those quotes come from the old test or Paul), yet amazingly, Divorce is "OK"... jbooma
What is the history of the term marriage? Once you find this out come back and ask me the question again. history doesn't matter here, remember slaves, well how is that going the point is you can get married by the justice of the peace which last i looked not religious even if we made marriages a religious thing, then if there was a gay church why couldn't they get married?? Predicto
So, you're saying that without any feedback at all from their constituants, political operatives just put stuf on the ballot? Of course not. They put stuff on the ballot that their research tells them will get people riled up to vote. Do you really think the flag burning political issue was caused by an epidemic in flag burning around the country? So why don't the Dems put on ballots "Do you agree two men should be able to marry"? Answer: Except in San Fransicko and Mass it'd be shot full of holes You are absolutely right. That issue is a wedge issue for Republicans, not Democrats. It will bring out the angry "anti-gay" vote much more than the angry "pro-gay" vote. The point is to rile people up and get out your base.
portisizzle
No, what exactly is your point. As far as I know, there is no evidence clearly linking attraction to animals to a person's biological makeup. My point is there is not religious difference between a marriage between a human and a dog a gay couple. I am not comparing man to dog. I am comparing the relevance of the term marriage in either instance.

Only in the case of a cheating spouse. It used to be the only way to get a divorce inthis country until Reagan enacted the no-fault divorce in California in the 60's. EDIT: IMO divorce is one of the most destructive forces in history.

And I don't mean that sarcastically... I really mean that. ....... It is you who misread my post. I didn't say you thought gay marriage should be illegal, but you have to admit this amendment crap is being driven by people who agree with you and don't "approve" of the gay lifestyle even though it should be none of their business. If I were gay I would want equal rights, and I would demand people treat me with respect and know that being gay, at least for some people, is a natural occurance and it always has been throughout humanity. It's not your place to approve or disapprove.
