Bang
The Bush administration screwed up ROYALLY by taking Saddam out. They should have moved 100k troops into Afghanistan instead. We should have sent half of them after Al Qaeda and the Taliban, and half to oversee the building of secular schools and water wells and agricultural projects. We would have nailed Bin Laden, won the hearts of the Afghanis, and had a stronghold in the region where we were welcomed, all at a fraction of the cost of the Iraqi debacle.Saddam was Iran's worst enemy. He kept them in check. Iran would now be pinned between Saddam and our forces. But then Afghanistan doesn't have any oil. Which explains it all. Sorry, but this is completely off base. Think militarily for a minute and not politically. Go google up a map of the region. Look at Afghanistan. Look at the countries that surround it. Now look at a relief map. See those mountains that practically surround the whole damn country? Some of the most rugged terrain on earth. Now, tell me, how do you ferry all these troops in and out? How do you supply them? How do you get them out if things go badly? Do we fly them over Iranian airspace, Russian airspace, Chinese airspace or do we take them over the mountains from Pakistan? This is why we fight in Afghanistan with small forces, and are successful. Not these political ideas you've put forth. Sometimes we are smart about how we do things. And thus far we have conducted a very successful campaign in Afghanistan.. this weekend's action is just one in a long string of significant victories posted in Afghanistan by coalition forces. By the way, AFC's second or third post about appeasement is dead on. That old bit about history repeating itself is more than just a clever phrase. ~Bang

Air Force Cane
President Bush laying down the red lines for Iran. We better mean it this time. We have to act before they pass the point of no return in their nuclear development program. That will be most likely 1-2 years from now.

Ummm, right now Iran is pinned between our forces to the west, east and north, not to mention to the south by the Navy This is what's known in the military as "surrounded" Yeah, what a screw up
Air Force Cane
we also have air bases at Al-Udeid, Bahrain, Kuwait, Turkey and Uzbekistan. we literally have about 10 bases totally surrounding Iran. nice strategic analysis eagles4ever:doh:
DeanCollins
You're actually on to something. He is similar to fundamental Christians like myself, except for one big difference: the methods employed to accomplish his goals. but this is a great example of how faiths that profess exclusivity can endanger society. All you need is a couple wackos that take an "ends justifies the means" mentality
twa
I believe it takes more than a couple wacko's,but I suppose it has to start somewhere.
