All In
As they came back from commercial they played an audio clip of Troy Aikman throwing to Rocket Ismael. I think it was the game where we were up by 21 points, home season opener. Anyway, Brian said that Norv didn't want to run up the score against 'his friends' and because of that we lost. Defense played a lot of prevent and started cramping up being on the field for so long. Thank god for Dan Snyder firing that sorry @ss excuse for a coach. Wish he could have done it sooner than later. Well I guess one could look at it as, if it wasn't for the dark ages of Norval We wouldn't have experienced the return of Joe Gibbs. Hurts opening up old wounds...

I hate Norv Turner more than ever. What an embarassing loss. Here's to sweeping the Cowboys AGAIN this year!!! What'dya say Joe? What'dya say Gregg? What'dya say Al? All 3 better coaches and better Redskins than Norv freaking Turner. He disguists me.

gridironmike
Mitchell has to be speculating. I'm not defending Norv, especially for that particular loss, but surely he didn't tell the players that.

jsevier
Norv is long gone now, just as I wish B-Mitch was. Gibbs has the same kind of class as to not run up the score but he would never put his team in position to lose. HTTR!
rdsknfan
I'am so thankful that all of those dark and depression filled years are over with. Amen to that! Norv was horrible as a head coach. Let's see...how many years was he here and he kept on saying that we are rebuilding. The only thing he was building was his bank account. :helmet: :logo:

I'm not defending Norv, especially for that particular loss, but surely he didn't tell the players that. I don't know if he was speculating since he was on the team. He would have had first hand information given that he was part of the offense and plays being called.

scruffylookin
I'll defend Norv. He was up by 21 in the 4th quarter. What should he do, keep chucking it like the Run N Shoot? Stephen Davis (when he wasn't fumbling) was pounding Dallas that day. It was the defense that cost us that game and it wasn't a "prevent" defense either, on Dallas' first TD drive to close to 14, they ran Emmitt Smith right down our throats. After that drive, the Skins played tight and the Cowboys were able to do damage in the passing game. Brian Mitchell really needs to shut up. Norv Turner, lousy head coach to be sure, but he gave Brian Mitchell more chances at runningback and to be a part of the offense than he ever really deserved and this is the thanks Turner gets. Real class B-Mitch. Keep thinking you're better than CP you jerk.

redman
Thank god for Dan Snyder firing that sorry @ss excuse for a coach. Wish he could have done it sooner than later. Well, yeah, given that he waited almost two full seasons after that game before firing him doesn't exactly give me the warm fuzzies about Snyder's handling of Norv. Still, I think Snyder learned a lot from his experiences there which he is now putting to good use.
ouvan59
I'll defend Norv. Defend him all you want but teams take on the personality of their leaders and Norv was an extremely weak leader. The first quarter was Norv's time to shine, particularly the first drive of the game. After that he crumbled and was, in effect, a quivering mass of jelly in the 4th quarter. Players feed off confidence. Is there any human on Earth that took a look at Norv and ever thought to themselves "There goes a confident man"? To this day every time I hear the word "compete" or any variation of it I cringe.

Excuse me while I whipe off the water I spit out on the monitor due to Norv being called "a quivering mass of jelly" lol! Norv did annoy the :pooh: out of me. I remember me and my folks would try and watch the Norv Turner coaches show and whenever that man would speak we would all look at each other and just shake our heads. There wasn't one facet of Norville that I liked- his persona, his face, his whiney voice, his coaching- all stunk to hi-heaven! But man could he ever script a first series... mcarey032
Never had the killer instinct. He is the margerine of coaching. He is the diet coke of coaching. Just one calorie, not quite coach enough. I am sure he was glad that he had troy and the coke sniffer and emmitt to run his offense otherwise he wouldn't have been able to be water boy for a football team. da#1skinsfan
Norv Turner sucks. He was a good offensive coordinator with great weapons, and a terrible head coach with no clue how to oversee a team. Brian Mitchell sucks. He was a good Skin, a turncoat division-rival-hopping loser who is quick to bash the skins and has a flair for the dramatic in order to draw attention to his non-existent broadcasting career, in the hopes of driving attention away from his mediocre twilight years in which he tarnished his career as a Redskin. /thread
