Charlie Murphaaay
I think he is too young to really refer to him as anyones "poor man" Let's see what he does with a pass rush and him being a year wiser as far as the NFL goes. I agree. I also think that Carlos is a different style of corner than Champ. A little more physical, but maybe not as great in coverage as Bailey. However, I do think that the thing both have in common is double moves. Both of them are susceptible to biting on double moves too hard, especially the pump fake. Carlos was beat for the TD Monday night on a play like this. What's funny is he could have made a play on the ball had he turned his head around early enough. IrepDC
His only weakness that's not correctable is his speed. He is gonna need safety help with speedy receivers(like Williamson). All his other weaknesses will be corrected as he gains experience.
IrepDC
I would compare him to someone like Antwan Winfield of the Vikings.
skinsbosoxheels
Rogers is Above Average...still wished the Skins would have drafted Merriman and Heath Miller instead of the 2 Auburn boys.
RedskinzOwnU
He's great at stopping the run. Unfortunately, he's a cornerback, so I wish he was great at covering receivers.
chipper803
You people need to relax. It's amazing how many people on these boards A) have no perspective, and operate without logic or accurate information. Rogers is in his second year. He just played his 19th pro game. Sure he did something stupid and celebrated when he should have been extremely relieved. That doesn't make him universally ****y. In fact, nothing I've seen about him indicates to me that his natural demeanor is one of overbearing arrogance. Just the title of this dumbass thread, "Carlos Rogers--Love Him or Hate Him?" strikes me as prototypically snarky and, uh, infantile. What are you, in middle school? Rogers has all the tools (including speed to burn). The mental aspect of corner is something that takes years to develop--and I'm not talking about confidence. Not only do most of you lack any experience in organized football, but you have even less knowledge of what playing cornerback is like. While that is not a requisite for being a football fan, it should be a requisite for making myopic judgements about these players. Cut the guy some effing slack. -mando-
cornerback is the hardest position to play aside from qb because everything comes down to reacting, recievers who are faster the majority of the time know where they are going, it is the hardest position to be consistent, look at champ bailey, argueably the best cover corner in the league has has his fair share of getting burnt not to mention brad had all day to throw, the recievers will win 90% when the qb has that much time by the way, im a huge rogers fan and he will prove to be a very solid cb in the future, fans just have way too much expectations in too little of a time table, i would take rogers over pacman jones anyday of the week
THEface
What's funny is he could have made a play on the ball had he turned his head around early enough. yeah i know. that was terrible technique. in situations like that you should always have your back to the endzone, watching the quarterback. i still think rogerswill be good. he needs to get back into it, and catch up with the speed of the game again. he was solid last year aafter he started a couple games. Aghar
I have said it already on this thread before the year began that he will still have a disappointment or two this year. He is young and will make mistakes. Especially the celebrating after a WR missed a perfectly thrown football that he didn't even see coming. That's a BIG Although I worry about our coverage ability someone else said it best, you must be able to get to the QB or he will pick the best secondaries apart, no matter who plays. iceman330
CR will be fine. He's young and will improve. He has alot of ggood skills, quickness and he hits....HARD. I think the comparisons are unfair. Not many corners can be compared to D.Green and Bailey is far from middle of the road. Smoot spent his first several years playing alongside great corners and Springs is a seasoned vet. CR will have his growing pains but he'll be fine. bbuzz1962
Carlos Rogers simply had his ass kicked Monday night. There is no lipstick for that pig. When you get beat as badly as he did, there is nothing you can do but just say he isn't that good yet.
skins4428
If the guy can't cover Marcus Robinson, a guy who's hardly played over the last 3 to 4 years due to a major back problem and knee problems, what are TO and Glenn going to do to him?! We better hope we can generate some pressue on Bledsoe.
DaSkinzBaby
observe the game against the chargers where he made drew brees his personal ***** Well I think Brad Johnson returned the favor don't you? If not Brad then Troy Williamson and that is with him dropping several passes. However I am down on #22 right now, he has simply sucked all preseason and the 1st game. He is reminding me of Ade Jimoh 2 years ago and we really miss Walt Harris, let's send Betts to San Fran for Harris :2cents:
ChampSkinsFanatic
I hope this some how gets to Carlos and he proves all us "doubters" wrong today. Even though he cant do it by himself tonight atleast play your part
Redskins4ever
There's no reason to get down on Carlos Rogers. He's a young corner and he will improve. He reminds me of a youg Vernon Dean. Anybody remember him? Dean was an okay corner. While Rogers is not on the level as a Champ Bailey, Charles Woodson, or a Ty Law, he's a solid corner and has to play the deep ball better given the fact that he was a high draft choice. joeknows
with springs being out im not sure i understand positioning in the cb spot. if rogers is our #2 CB,then with the absence of springs, why hasnt the depth chart rotated up to have rogers covering the #1 reciever instead of having rumph or wright trying to cover the #1? Blade
Williams has said in his interviews and even in his chat with Extremeskins last year that he doesnt usually rotate his CBs. He expects the guys he has on the field to make plays.
macdaddychurch
"SLICK" should be CR's new nickname......as in slick fingers.....as is this guy can't make an interception if you caught it FOR him. 3rd time this regular season he has dropped a sure and easy interception. Throw in 2 in preseason and the one he dropped in Seattle last year, he's now dropped his last 6 int's...someone, PLEASE, teach this guy how to catch the ball.......a CB should have hands somewhat on par with a WR.....he could and should be leading the NFL in it's this year! :logo: :helmet: :gaintsuck
