BleedBNG
Brunell is rated as one of the NFL's top 10 passers all time. No he's not. Right now he's #21. JGibbs bypassed #2 but, that's OK. I don't think there has been a QB in the NFL who has won 2 SB's with 2 different teams. The odds are better for Brunell. http://www.profootballhof.com/history/release.jsp?release_id=1990
fuji869
Mark Brunell is not exactly a scrub despite his first season with the Redskins. He rebounded in 05 and help lead the Redskins to one of the greatest playoff runs in team history, became only the second Redskin QB to win both games in a season sweep over Dallas and the ONLY Redskin QB to beat the Cowboys and Eagles twice in the same season. If it wasn't for the Tennessee Titans in 1999 Brunell would have probably lead Jacksonville to the Super Bowl. Remember the Jaguars went 16-3 in 1999 with all 3 losses coming against the Titans including the AFC Championship. Early in his career he was called the Mirror Image of Steve Young both mobile, left handed and wore #8. If he wins a Super Bowl with the Redskins you can make an argument for Mark to go to Canton. MABfan
No he's not. Right now he's #21. Nice research. Check out Montana's numbers. Over 5K attempts with a 92+ passer rating. WOW!

BleedBNG
Nice research. Check out Montana's numbers. Over 5K attempts with a 92+ passer rating. WOW! Looks like the only pre-SB QB who made it in the top 20 was our ole coach (when I became a fan) Otto Graham at #10. After reading about his playing career a few years ago, all I could say was "WHOA!!!"

Easily one of the best all-time.
BleedBNG
Doh. You caught me using old stats. Still, Mark is in some pretty good company there. Yes he is. He's as smart as JoeyT on the field. Just hope he has JoeyT's fire when it comes to the playoff run towards the SB. BTW, the last time a football was on the SB logo was SB XXVI. Rooblakas
Mark Brunell definitely makes good decision making skills and has the throwing touch despite what the critics say about him in his age, health, and mobility. With Al Saunders calling the shots on offense, Brunell should be good as gold with a lot of new weapons. If he (Brunell) does get injured, it is just a matter of how severe it is and how it will affect his playing performance. Other than that, I like Mark Brunell as the Redskins quarterback because he is very smart with the football; he has scrambling ability to buy some time out of the pocket as well. Before Brunell retires, I hope he does win a Super Bowl championship or two like what John Elway did before he hung up his career afterwards. Lombardi's_kid_brother
Mark Brunell, in his younger days, was very good. Brunell currently - when healthy - is pretty good. Probably good enough to lead a team deep into the playoffs a la Rich Gannon with the Raiders circa 2001-2002. It's not outside the realm of possibility that he could lead a team to the Super Bowl. And if he did win a Super Bowl at this point in his career, one would have to take a very long look at him when it came time for Hall of Fame consideration. I've not seen anyone defame his abilities or leadership. What concerns anyone who watches football is that Brunell has gotten injured each of the last two seasons and at the moment, he is injured his production plummets to levels that makes beating good teams nearly impossible. No one is worried about Brunell on the first snap of the first game. Everyone is worried about what happens the first time he is hit.
Lombardi's_kid_brother
Brunell = Joe Theismanjust outside the door, But, if he can pull an Elway and win back to back SB's to close out his career, he may squeak in Joey T. is outside the door, down the hall, and in the green room banging on the vending machine because his Fritos got stuck. There are probably 20 quarterbacks ahead of Joe in terms of getting into the HoF, Brunell included once he retires. Look at his careeer numbers: http://www.databasefootball.com/players/playerpage.htm?ilkid=THEISJOE01 Four seasons stand out as good, one as very good. And the fact remains that Gibbs got similar production out of players like Schroeder, Williams, and Rypien.
whlinder
There is no doubt about it, Mark Brunell has had an outstanding football career. This fact is often overlooked because he hasn't won a Super Bowl. In his college days, Brunell won a National Championship. He has yet to win the big one in the NFL though, and at 36, his time may be running out. Coming off a season in which he threw the most TD's ever in his career, he is ready to try. Just a point of clarification, because in 1991 I am sure most of us were paying attention to our awesome season, but Brunell didn't do a whole lot on that other championship Washington team in 1991. The Huskies that year were incredible, but Brunell blew out his knee and didn't start a game. Billy Joe Hobert lead the team to the 1992 Rose Bowl, where they crushed Desmond Howard and Michigan, and to the national title. Brunell came in at the end and was 7/8 for 89yds and a TD. Of course, he was the 1991 Rose Bowl MVP and led the Huskies to the 1993 Rose Bowl as well (which we lost- I went to UW too). He held a lot of individual career Rose Bowl offensive records until Vince Young went off in the past 2 Rose Bowls. I really hope that if Mark leads us to the Super Bowl this yard that Canton will call his name. Otherwise I don't see him ever making it.
