hkHog
Are you serious? Sonny is awesome! Even my friend who is a Giants fan loves him, the guy is freaking hilarious!
panthro
most of us agree that sonny is the man. sam is awesome too. with their age, who's the new blood after their days are over? i love riggo as a player and as a skin, but can't stand him as a commentator. he's out! could/would theismann ever reduce himself to be on redskins radio after such an illustrious career on tv? gotta say it's doubtful, but would love to have him as our homer. would love to have mark may. again, coming to radio after a tv career is a doubtful move. who else is there? JLMRacing
I think it's the homer style(as dumb as that sounds). I'm as hardcore a Redskins fan as the next guy, I guess I just prefer a more objective point-of-view while watching football games. It's always nice to hear someone on the skins' side, just not so much I guess. Keeps games a little more interesting for me. Please don't take this the wrong way, But I can tell you're only 22 (How can you not like Sonny & Sam!!) :2cents:
jsevier
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I have to disagree with your post. Sonny still is "good listening" as far as I am concerned. Both him and Sam make me laugh just about each game, even when times are tough. Sonny is an assett and I don't think he is nearing retirement from radio. I enjoy listening to him and hope he continues on. I just wish Frank was back. God I miss that trio. I keep hoping Larry Michael will get better but I just don't see it. HTTR! Hambone26
The only "insider" I respect as much as Sonny is George Michael. I love his interviews and opinions because he's not going to BS or sugarcoat anything. Redskins Report is possibly the greatest TV show on the air because of the people on there. I'd love to hear George on the Redskins broadcasts but I know that's not going to happen. I'm just glad he recovered so quickly from his fall last year. The team has been great to him and he's been great to the team.
ouvan59
I just wish Frank was back. God I miss that trio. I don't have a problem with Larry Michael but Sonny, Sam and Frank was a great team. Frank called a great game IMO. I really miss "Touchdown, Washington Redskins."
More Complete
I love him on Redskins report, because he almost always picks the skins to win. ALMOST always? I have never seen him pick against the skins, I would be shocked if he did. I love Sonny. He's the man. :notworthy
planter
I find Sonny's comments on QB's and (passing) offense informative. Skins' QBs would be wise to listen to the man.

Coooleeey
I think some people are missing the point that this is an opinion. I'm not saying that Sonny doesn't know a lot about what is going on both in and out of the game...I'm just saying that his style doesn't really suit me. I agree with you a little bro. I used to love listening to Sonny and last year he really did to seem lose a step. As for Madden, I have always hated that retard.

Sonny and Sam, hell, even Larry will critique the team when it's called for. I'll give more respect to them when they do, as they know the team better than an objective commentator who doesn't know jack squat about our team and players. Like I said before, Sonny and Sam don't sugar coat anything concerning the Skins. When I want an honest opinion about the Redskins, Sonny and Sam know what theyr'e talking about, not some objective commentator who only reads the stat sheets. :dallasuck :eaglesuck :gaintsuck

I'm not saying that Sonny doesn't know a lot about what is going on both in and out of the game...I'm just saying that his style doesn't really suit me. I have no problem "that his style doesn't suit you", but in your original thread you said I think "it's time for him to step back from commentating any of the Redskins games." That is a different statement. Shame on you. You can see that you are not getting much support on that message.
gutlead74
Now, before I go into anything, please do not take what I am saying in the wrong way. I have every bit of respect for him as a player and as a person that the rest of you do. The thing is, I think it's time for him to step back from commentating any of the Redskins games. A lot of times I find myself getting tired of listening to him almost as much as I can't stand listening to Madden in his video games. Am I the only person that feels this way? hes not the problem...SAM HUFF is the problem "wow what throw" i swear he seems lost alot of times. he rambles on and very rarely makes any great points. blah blah blah...man he is bad:doh:

36HAMMER
i love'em.i keep a stereo next to me just in case i get tired of the tv play by play's bias against the skins. i usually do. it's a slice of the past ie tradition of the skins being together with the new. i too miss herzog. it was like family. no matter what your doing you came back together for the game on sunday, and for awhile the troubles of the world would fade away in a plum of burgundy and gold. UpYoursPVI
Sonny had his days as a young firebrand ball player and broadcaster and now he's moving into the limelight of his days as a commentator. He has aged and matured like a fine wine, and his skill as the voice of the Redskins is now a thing to be savored. I think the greatest measure of his stature in the broadcasting world is the new Sonny Jurgensen Special Edition iPod Apple has announced it will be rolling out in a few months. What tribute could be more fitting? Sonny will join the ranks of Harry Potter and U2 and live on forever in iPod form long after we're forced to say goodbye, which will inevitably happen. I can't wait to buy my Sonny Jurgensen iPod from Meyer Emco Audio Video.
SonnyandSam
I think it's the homer style(as dumb as that sounds). I'm as hardcore a Redskins fan as the next guy, I guess I just prefer a more objective point-of-view while watching football games. It's always nice to hear someone on the skins' side, just not so much I guess. Keeps games a little more interesting for me. First, I like the homerism. It is afterall the Redskins radio. I find it highly more entertaining than the crap I hear on Fox, ABC, ESPN and NBC. But what I really like about Sonny is he is a homer but will not hold back criticizing referees, players, coaches or the team when warranted. His analysis is very insightful and educational. He is the perfect style for me. I guess you should try to tune in Troy Aikman or some of the other bland boring types on TV. Redskins radio is definitely not for you. If you don't like Sonny, you must despise Sam and Larry.

mcarey032
I do miss herzog. If you don't like sonny's comentating, you are more than welcome to your opinion. I can't see the comparison to madden. Madden is just dumber than a rock. I can't listen to the radio because as stated before the delay of the broadcast. I have the HD broadcast and I don't want to be screwed up by the delay. ncsuapex
Sonny is the MAN, as well as Sam. I've been turning down the idiot generic TV announcers for years and listening to Sonny and Sam(and Frank back in the day). I dread the time when those 2 step down permanently. Half the fun of listening to Sonny and Sam is hearing them talk trash about the other team and players or back when the Skins were struggling they would trash the Skins to a degree... It's also neat to hear the insight from 2 guys who have bleed B&G for 40 some years. These guys love the team and you can genuinely hear how much passion they have for the Skins during the games. Besides... I want my radio announcers to be BIASED towards my team.. I want to hear stuff I didn't know about my team, not some lame ass crap the idiot generic TV guys spew that is common knowledge if you follow the team..I want to hear real insight. And it's fun to hear Sonny and Sam argue from time to time! These guys are a real treasure and should be treated with respect for what they did on the field and what they have done in the booth!
