rlhjr34
Sickens me to think that there are total wacko's like this roaming around. Especially with me having a young daughter. Totally frightening.
WeownU
I definitly don't think they deserve the death penulty.Fresh meat like that, throw them in population. Yep. With tattoos on their forheads saying they raped an 11 year old girl. Death penalty is way too good for those guys.
Donita35
11 years old???? She is just a baby. What kind of animal would do something like that. I am not a proponent of the death penalty but in this case it may be warranted. Edit: Actually I would like to reconsider my position on this matter, on the death penalty in particular. I would like to reserve my comment on proper punishment until after more facts are brought to surface. Killing someone is a final act that there is no coming back from. You cannot apologize to these boys or their families to make amends. :2cents:
Idaho fan
Sick... I wonder why we have not heard more about this on the TV and Radio... We hear all about the Duke Lacross team - but not this? They deserve what they have coming - and probably worse.
Donita35
Um, as a guy you should know the trouble you used to have differentiating ages of women/girls. I'm still not that good at telling how old someone is (just mid-20s vs. mid-teens or so) depending on their ethnic background and build. As I mentioned earlier, there were girls in my 5th/6th grade class that were fully developed and about 5-5 (or taller) at that age. If they pretended to be something different, a guy with no clue would have no way of knowing. If she SAID she was 11 or there is evidence of that, sure, they are guilty. If not and she said she was older, they would have no way of knowing. For agrument sake, rather or not her age was apparent still doesn't account for the act of RAPE! That should not happen to any female at any age. These boys have to be held accountable for something. Everyone knows gang raping someone is a crime. Having a consentual orgy is not. It is up to investigators and the courts to uncover the truth. But given the state of our current judicial system, I am not sure we will ever know the truth.
The Predator 26
What is up with people these days? Reading stuff like this makes me angry! I can't believe people would do these kinds of things.
No_Pressure
You commit a crime involving a hand gun and they will take it away and never let you legally own a gun...you commit a crime like this...well you see where im going with this...

LD0506
On the other hand, I agree with the post. Most of our lives will be unaffected by the disgusting event, so I think it would be awesome if TheSteve's post inspires someone to do something. There might not be much you can do for the girl in Fresno, but there are many things that you can do if you really are disgusted by this kind of behavior. Here are a few examples from off the top of my head:- Volunteer as a positive role model for young men (possibly those without fathers in the home); think boys/girls clubs or other mentoring programs. - Volunteer at a battered women's shelter or group home so that women who have suffered abuse will have somewhere to turn, someone to help them overcome their suffering. - Make sure that you do not do anything in your own life that demeans women or implies to anyone that it is okay to abuse women. - Help out at-risk youth so that vulnerable people like this girl will have much-needed support and won't be as liable to fall victim to such incidents. These are just the first things that came to my mind. Others may quibble with my suggestions, and your local rape crisis and counseling center may have much better suggestions for things that you can do. My point (and I believe TheSteve's point) is, if you really are affected when you read about this incident, there may be things that you can do. Talk is cheap - like TheSteve said: What are you going to do now that you've read it? I would add one more thing to your list, raise your sons to know that this or anything even approaching it is unacceptable! Teach your boys how to be men, not just males, to know that honor, decency and compassion are great strengths and not some sign of weakness, so that they can be an example to others. This to me is where it starts, be an example for your sons, be a mentor to allow them to mature into men that you will be proud of.
