He lost by decision to Jardine, due to leg kicks apparently. The kicks were loud but they obviously weren't phasing Chuck and Joe Rogan couldn't stop shouting about how great they were, kind of annoying.

As far as punches, Chuck busted up Jardine pretty good in round 1 and Jardine knocked Chuck down in round 2. I'd say round 1 went to Chuck for sure and round 2 to Jardine for sure.

Round 3 was lame as hell, with no one landing any solid punches but Jardine kept leg kicking and got the round that way.

Thank you for the response! Dang I thought Chuck would have handled this one.

if Jardine deserves that, then what does Houston Alexander deserve? lhw division can go alot of different ways.

It all depends where you are ranked at the given time, and what rank the person is you beat at the given time. Jardine was an up and comer who beat an up and coming Forrest Griffin. Jardine is NOW established, not when he faught Houston. Maybe a rematch against Houston would be nice, but I hate redundancy - they JUST faught it seems like. Maybe Forrest and Jardine should have a rematch, and Houston should fight Wanderlei.

How Dana sorts out the 205lb division will be interesting.

Who deserves the title shot??

Lyota Machidi-undefeated

Forest-big win over Shogun but KO'D by Jardine this year.

Jardine-Big win over Chuck but destroyed by Houston Alexander.

Rashad- draw againest Tito still undefeated and has beaten Jardine

Tito-????

Wanderlei- coming off 2 loses

Houston Alexander-Only 2 fights in the UFC but both were devasting KO's in under a min 1 being Jardine. This guy looks like the real deal. I'd like to see him get the shot honestly.

I think Lyota,Alexander and Rashad should be ahead of Forest and Jardine.

I don't know about Alexander but I see:

Forrest vs. Rampage

Chuck vs. Shogun

Wanderlei vs. Jardine

:applause:

I'm liking that, but I don't know if Forrest should shoot straight up quite that fast. A lot of things were going against Shogun tonight. The LHW division is cluttered with tough questions after tonight. Most anything Dana puts together will probably work out. Houston needs a couple more fights under his belt. He's 35, and basically a prospect. How about he fights Dan Henderson?

I want to see hendo drop to 185 and boost up the mw division, because after Anderson Silva completes Franklins facial reconstruction next month, he will need a legitimate contender for the belt. 205 has enough depth, hendo in 185 will be better for all parties.

No way Forest should get the title shot off beating Shogun. Shogun looked outclassed and out of shape and personally i've thought he was a overhyped sherdog phenom.

Chuck has 0 defense and no he is plodding along. Jardine did'nt do enough to jump over Alexander. Alexander raped Jardine that was a brutal beatdown just a few months ago.

Rashad has beaten Jardine and would overpower Forest.

Rashad,Machida and Alexander have 0 losses.

WTF are you serious?

WTF again...when did Rashad beat Jardine? Rashad would get torn up by Forrest Griffin, not a good match up for Rashad this early in his career.

Machida was fighting at middleweight and Rashad is fighting Tito again next. Alexander is the only one in that group that needs a serious step-up in competition.

I felt like tonight Shogun was in essance fighting Randy Couture just as much as he was fighting Forrest Griffin. Forrest found the right guy to work his game. That much is obvious.

I agree with Samuels. Shogun has looked a little tubby for the past 4 months. Every interview, picture, and training session I saw of him made me think, "wow he looks different." He is very young though. Expect him to realize this flaw. He was hanging his hands down in the middle of the second round.

My policy has always been that records mean nothing. Sakuraba (20-10), Couture (16-8). It's who you fight and when you fight them that counts, in my book. Rashad has tied a dwindling Tito, Machida has beaten nobody, and Houston beat up Jardine when Jardine's only claim to fame was beating a un-educated Forrest Griffin. Houston beat Sakara handily, and in quick and devistating fashion. Give him fighters that have clawed their way to the top...let's not play hop scotch because of records.

PS. Houston is 7-1

1. Chuck is 37 years old , a one dimensional fighter who has been exposed and near the end of his career , he did'nt do anything against Jardine except look for the KO and he lost a boring technical fight , he clearly lost but it was a horrible fight

2. Jardine is still a mediocre fighter IMO , he wins he loses he wins he loses , not good for the sport

3. Pride fighters are so overrated , they are out of shape and just can't hang with the UFC fighters and with the fights of Cro Cop and "the best fighter in the world" Shogun , it proves they aren't much compared to UFC fighters

4. Tito Ortiz is my favorite fighter , and I think Tito has made a huge mistake going all hollywood with that hooker porn star slut Jenna , but if he can find some kind of hunger to fight again , then he can still be a force in the 205 pound weight class , I thought Tito would fade with all the talent coming from Pride , but Pride fighters are weak and out of shape , Chuck is about done , Tito already beat Forrest , so he can still be a force ...

5. MMA has been crazy and totally unpredictable this year but I love it !

Thats a brain fart i meant Bonner how i got that confused can be blamed on a night of drinking at WTG, LOL..

I think Rashad would handle Forest even if its just lay n pray he would win. Rashad shoulda beat Tito and if he had another rd it would'nt have been a draw.

If you throw Forest or Jardine in with Page at this point it would be a joke. Page is'nt the same fighter who lost to Shogun and Wanderlei, he is for real..

Dana has to throw somebody at Page probably in Dec/Jan without another fight in between.

Rashad vs Tito

Wanderlei vs Chuck still make it happen

Jardine vs Forest in my opinion

Alexander vs ?

Lyota vs ?

Shogun vs ?

Rashad beat Jardine in the semi-finals of The Ultimate fighter clearly 2 rounds to 1.

and i think Rashad would give Forrest problems. i don't particularly like Rashad but he is extremely explosive and has good takedowns. i think he would decision Forrest

I dunno about that. The bash on Forrest's ground game ends tonight. He is Couture's main student. You can see it in Randy's eyes that Forrest is his project. Forrest is all game now. I would take Forrest if he ever faught Rashad.

they both fought at HW on that show, and then dropped down after the show. rashad won the hw ultimate fighter that year, but dropped to 205 right after.

and bonnar did fight Jardine and won even though most feel as though Jardine was robbed in that fight (myself included)

It's weird, the adaptation to fighting in the octagon, in the U.S.A., seems to be incredibly smooth for some fighters, and really devistating for a couple of them, so far. Although, in the back of my mind I've always known Cro Cop was overrated.

Shogun from 2005 < Rampage 2007

I was happy to see Sanchez get beat again, but I do respect his skills. That was a technically very sound fight. Props to Fitch for his escapes.

Forrest "I ain't that great but I'll fight ANYBODY" Griffin!!! What grit and determination! He's my favorite MMA personality and now I can take him seriously as a contender. He just whipped and choked out a BAD man.

So would anyone like to start the "Jardine vs. Ali" thread? I hope last night's fight put to rest any ideas that Chuck Liddell would beat the Greatest of All Time. Clearly Liddell was suffering from a touch of what Forrest Griffin and Andre Arlovski did after they were KOed. Their first fights coming off those losses they were timid about committing to heavy strikes and I think Chuck was too. By the 3rd round he was too numb and sore from those kicks and befuddled by the fact that he hadn't knocked Keith out.

Fight of the Night had to be Tyson Griffin and Thiago Tavares. What a brilliant chess match. TG is a bull dog.

i just rewatched the Tyson Griffin/Thiago Tavares fight and i think Tavares should have gotten the decision. how one judge scored the fight 30-27 for Griffin is beyond me. there is no conceivable way that Griffin won the 2nd round of that fight

i had Griffin winning the 1st round due to his dominant position and ground and pound. not really a debate in this round for me

i had Tavares winning the 2nd, he had the flying knee that rocked Griffin, had his back on several occasions and was constantly lookin for submissions. Tavares was never in any danger in this round. not a hard round to score for Tavares to me.

the 3rd round was the closest of the fight. neither fighter did any significant damage to the other, but Tavares again was constantly goin for submission after submission. Yes Griffin did a great job of countering, but i'm under the impression that the points should go to the aggressor. I gave this round to Tavares.

if any one thing comes out of this ppv, it showed how badly UFC needs to change how they score fights. the fact that one judge had the fight 30-27 for Griffin tells me he knows nothing about the ground game in MMA. The fact that one judge had Diego beating Fitch is ridiculous and the fact that one judge had Liddell winning is inexcusable.

I agree to a point , I'm not ready to crown Forrest yet , he is a great fighter tho and he gets a LOT of respect for his win over Shogun but these Pride fighters with the exception of Rampage and Anderson Silva just can't hack it here they need to realize that you have to be in better shape and completely well rounded to make it in the UFC . Chuck did look a little timid , reminded me of Tim Sylvia when he had the belt , he tap danced around the ring , last night wasn't good for the UFC IMO , I mean come on , Forrest Griffin and Keith Jardine?!... blah

Rampage and Anderson look good no doubt , but who else from Pride ? UFc fighters dominate them .

If UFC can sign Fedor, he will be favored to take the heavy weight title.

Shogun was gassed in the first round, he didn't take this fight too seriously it looks like.

Usually he is the energizer bunny who never stops swinging, and the other guy runs out of gas.

Props to Forest for being ready and winning that fight.

Shogun is young he'll be back.

Don't knock the pride fighters, because honestly they saved the UFC from being a boring Chuck vs Tito 6 and boring repeat fights like that.

Pride EASILY took 2 of the 5 belts away with the only 2 title fights between the two organizations.

the same argument you made for Shogun can be made for Rich franklin when he fough Anderson Silva and lost the belt , the facts are , pride fighters so far aren't holding up to the UFC with the exception of 2 fighters thats it , and i agree shogun will be back but he better get in shape I have watched Pride and UFC a LONG time i have seen them all fight , and I'm surprised that Pride competition isn't holding up to the UFC , but the fact is that they simply aren't , although I agree about Fedor , I will wait and see before I buy the hype this time because the other hyped fighters blew it

*edit* Anderson Silva only ofught in Pride 5 times so he isn't really Pride , and Rampage is from here and no stranger to the UFC style either .. so our 2 UFC champs from Pride aren't completely Pride fighters like Cro Cop and Shogun and a few others who have not looked good , in time maybe they will but they have to get better
