Darth Tater
Got this today: http://news.com.com/2061-11128_3-6088557.html?part=rss&tag=6088557&subj=news June 27, 2006 11:58 AM PDT To search for oil, companies typically employ teams of geological engineers and 3D mapping software, but two groups in Israel are trying to find deposits through biblical clues. Zion Oil and Gas says it will drill for oil deposits in the north of the country, said Amit Mor, CEO at Eco Energy, an energy consulting and investment firm in the country. Part of the belief at Zion Oil is that Deuteronomy says it was there. "And of Asher he [Moses] said, blessed above sons; let him be acceptable to his brethren, and let him dip his foot in oil." (Deuteronomy 33:24.)," the company's web site reads. Moses also sucked oil out of flinty rock, Deuteronomy states, according to Zion. Zion also has put forth geological evidence. There is also a rival group that is doing the same but they are Jewish, Mor noted. So far, the Jewish group has had more luck. "They found a small deposit," said Mor. Israel isn't completely devoid of fossil fuels. A large natural gas field was discovered offshore in 1999. Another large natural gas field is off Gaza, which the Palestinian Authority has rights to royalties over, said Mor.
