skinfan2k
When he first arrive back in washington to start his 2nd stint, i felt that his 4th year he would completely change his cutlure of losing here. However i did not expect him to do it so fast and bring in coaches who may lead us in our future 1st year i thought gibbs would go anywhere from 5-11 to 7-9 2nd year 7-9 to 9-7 3rd 9-7 to 11-6 4th Superbowl 5th defend his title and retire after the season i knew this was my thinking about i did not know gibbs would bring in a future star at qb and a young nucleus of portis, moss and cooley.. what were ur intial thoughts when gibbs arrived back in washington

James Moss
The team was in bad shape when Joe came back. I thought it would take three years to build a winner. The team exceeded my expectations last year. That being the case; I don’t feel it’s at all unreasonable to expect an even deeper playoff run this year. And if we can secure home-field throughout the playoffs—a very difficult task indeed; then we could be super bowl bound.

dadirtbags
I actually thought Gibbs was going to do well his first season....with the players we had on the roster I thought he might have turned things around easier than expected...the one thing I failed to take into consideration.....half the players were not Gibbs type of players....this past season did not surprise me one bit.....i knew it was only a matter of time....this year its only going to get better

bnacpa
I initially felt that he had an uphill battle that I wasn't sure how he would be effective at. Sure he is a great tactician and I thought he could squeeze out more wins that Spurrier ... and I thought he would do that right away, so 6-10 was a bit surprising. But I was also worried about the mindset of today's player and how free agency had changed the landscape from his last stint in the NFL. I was not sure if he would have success getting back to the playoffs. He has subsided all of my worries. I also had some worries that he was great at coaching the players, but that Beathard was the one picking them and we hadn't done too well with the talent acquisition side of things the past decade ... so that was also a concern ... but again, he has his kind of players playing his kind of ball ... and that is = his kind of results, so I am going to just enjoy it for what it is and laugh at all the mediots who still don't see the juggernaut that is forming from DC

GOSKINS_08
It took some time for Gibbs to get the right offensive scheme.

AllAboutSkins08
honestly, i thought that gibbs would have a tough time getting back into the league and beating other teams. i was worried that snyder would fire gibbs after the first season! i had gotten so used to us getting high quality people and still losing that i didn't think it would matter, our curse would live on. thank God i was sadly mistaken. GIBBS IS THE MAN!!
Om
Wrote this last September, on the eve of Year Two. Says here we're right on track. http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112785 Year One was about Joe Gibbs getting back in the swing, figuring out what he had, and identifying what he needed. Check. Year Two, beginning Sunday, will be about taking that experience, adjusting, tinkering, applying and fine-tuning lessons learned both on and off the field, and finishing strong—maybe to the tune of a playoff spot if things break right. Year Three will be about harnessing that momentum and making a run at the big prize.
DCsportsfan53
Honestly, the one thing I knew as Gibbs came back was that he was entrenching himself in a FULL and complete organizational rebuild. That takes time. You can only change the roster so much in one year. I was a bit surprised by the lack of offensive efficieny (well, offense period) year one and by the seeming rust as far as game management. Last year, I said before the season that I would consider it a complete success if we made the playoffs. The playoff win was just icing on the cake. I think the one thing I always believed was that Joe would get it done, sooner or later. There's just something about that man. For some reason, I couldn't imagine him taking on a challenge and not succeeding. I knew the whole time that the reports about him regretting coming back or wanting to walk away were bogus. That's just not Joe Gibbs.
Darth Tater
Year 1: Between 8-8 and 10-6. Didn't expect to loose Jansen for the year. Year 2: Between 10-6 and 12-4. Possible SB if high end hit. Year 3: Between 12-4 and 14-2. Possible SB if high end hit. No expectations beyond that in year 1 but now: Year 4: Between 8-8 and 14-2. Possible SB if high end hit. Year 5: Between 8-8 and 14-2. Possible SB if high end hit. I've learned to be less optimistic about injury.
ddub52
well, i didnt think he would be able to weed out and replace so many players so fast. its incredible! we hardly have any players left from the spurrior era.
SkinsHokieFan
Playoffs year 1, superbowl year 2 This team had a lot of talent in 2004, just not the RIGHT talent Going into 2006 this team has once again lots of talent, and it is the right talent for the team
RIDETHEWALRUS
When I heard Gibbs wsa coming back I soome how expected 10-6 in yr 1. 13-3 in yr 2, and 16-0 in year 3 with a SB victory to boot. Now in hindsight I may have been a little homeristic in my expectations.
