Burgold
Last year, Portis was said to have petitioned frequently for the option pass. He likes throwing it. It's a change up for him. Now, however, he may lose some of those touches to El. Do we have an option quarterback controversy brewing? Will Portis be stewing over the diminishment of his option duties? How will Saunders keep all his passers happy?
EnFoRcEr_uPu
I highly doubt that it is even an issue. Portis would like to throw the ball once in a while just to mix things up, but I can't imagine he'll cry over it if he doesn't. I mean, all he's ever said in interviews is he'll do whatever it takes to win games. So I'm pretty sure this is a non-issue.
Burgold
I want to see a three lateral play with all our passers engaged. After the third lateral, Cooley launches it to Santana with all the Cowboy defense backs lying on the ground tripped up from all the changes in directions. Actually, the thought about the controversy just popped into my head and I thought it would make for a good light hearted thread.
G-Prime
Portis is a baller plain and simple. If he feels he didn't do everything he could to help his team win then he has failed.
Thirtyfive2seven
I think that Portis has had his passing priveledges revoked after he underthrew Moss who was wide open in the Tampa Game My only criticism of Moss (I realize this is dangerous grounds) is that he likes to catch the ball in stride. There is nothing wrong with that, however on the particular play that I just mentioned, if he were to have stopped and jumped up for the ball he would have drawn contact from the defender and may have gotten us the ball on the 1 yard line worse case scenario. KirkNC
I think you have just discovered the breaking point of the team. All the good vibes are going to burst at the seems because of this explosive development.

blk_rshn
If the worst we have to worry about is an option QB controversy then we are in REALLY good shape! Totally agree with that statement! That we have players that can execute that play is only going to make us that more dangerous next season.

HapHaszard
Off season threads are so much fun, now we have a substitute QB conflict, only in Washinton.
Maggio
10 bucks says the first option pass of the season won't be Portis or Randle EL (because they will be expecting it) but it will be Loyd to Moss for a TD. Then the real controversy will begin.:applause:

At least we don't have to deal with a Brunell v. Ramsey or anything...

The only disagreement I have with this is that in the Giants game he took 2 passes that he had to adjust to catch to the house. Maybe he likes to catch the ball in stride hell most small WRs do but Santana also showed he can adjust and make a play. As for the option QB Controversy I say Randle El easily is ahead of Portis because he has played QB on a regular basis at Indiana. I think Portis will throw 1 or 2 passes this year but if he dosent he wont mind at all when he is chasing the 2,000 yd mark. :helmet: Top Secret Option Pass Play:helmet: As for the first option pass play I see this happening. Brunell snaps the ball and tosses it to Portis. Then Portis tosses the ball between his legs to Randle El then he throws it across the field to Santana Moss. Santana Moss draws players to him and then he tosses it back across the field to Randle El who throws it down the field to a wide open Jon Jansen who was tackle-eligible on the play. Every receiver prefers to catch the ball in stride, and not get hung out to dry jumping for a high pass (where they are exposed for a big hit). In most cases moss makes the adjustment and gets the ball. That play was a poorly thrown ball by portis, can't fault moss for that.
The Animal Trainer
I say we go hand off to Portis on a sweep, he throws it all the way back to the other end of the field where Randle El is waiting, who then throws is deep to Moss or Lloyd. Works every time on my flag football team. Saunders is going to come up with some wrinkles this season, our offensse is going to be fun to watch. OR...portis could get it throw it back to the other end to ARE and ARE throws it back to the middle of the field to Brunell and he throws it back to portis who runs it in for a td!!! the skins don't play flag football
RIDETHEWALRUS
Portis is terrible at throwing the ball. He is pretty good at shot-putting it, but I don't want him throwing into coverage anytime this year.
pjfootballer
Whatever happened to a good old fashioned FLEA FLICKER. Draw the LB's and Safetys up and then heave one to Moss, Lloyd, ARE, whoever is open.
supafly
How about we alternate qb's every other play. Other teams wont know wtf is going to happen. Is portis going to run, pass or catch? Will ARE run, pass or catch?
