joeysports19
It really is crazy how much of a difference a coach can make. I missed Gibbs his first go-around but I am happy to be a part of this one. NewCliche21
Well, except for the awful quality and somehow saying that Gibbs returned in January of 2005, it was a tearful watch.

bigdog77s
I am not from the DC area so my finger wasn't directly on the pulse of the Skins in the past, but what is the deal with Marty? I remember the bad start of 0-5 but like the video said finishing off 8-3, close to being the first 0-5 to make the playoffs. I thought that if we kept Marty another year we'd make the playoffs, running Davis. Why are so many spiteful of Marty? Don't get me wrong, no one I'd want more than Gibbes so I am glad where the dominoes fell.

He was our strongest hope since Gibbs left, and lightyears ahead of Norv. As far as I can remember, everyone liked him, a lot. In fact, a lot of us were really pissed when he was fired to make room for Spurrier. I still haven't forgiven Snyder for that. Post script: I noticed that the reason that we have to sign up for YouTube to watch it is because it was considered objectionable or flagged for being so. Who the hell would find it suitable adults only? Damn Cowboys fans!

If Marty were here, maybe the franchise wouldn't have become the utter disgrace that it was under SOS, so maybe Gibbs wouldn't have come back at all. You never know. It turned out well, but it doesn't really justify the Marty firing. What do you mean everyone liked him? I don't think the players were very fond of him... Good thing it turned out alright in the end.

bigdog77s
Agree with out him gone we wouldn't gotten SOS and without SOS we may have not got Gibbs back. But at the time he was fired I thought he could have gotten us to playoffs at the time. And I do know the players complained about him, but I never listen to players when they complain they practice to hard. God forbid you run and break a sweat. Giants complained about this last year and the Lions this year. You have no room to complain about practicing too harf unless you are the super bowl champs. glikster04
I love when i just randomly find myself smiling...as I just did when they showed Coach walking back when he came back. I feel so lucky to be able to say "I witnessed part of Joe Gibbs' coaching career." When I have kids and grandkids, they'll know who Joe Gibbs is. So this one is for you, Coach. Thanks for bringing the Washington Redskins glory, and then for bringing them back to glory, and thanks for the inspiration that you have given me. :logo:

Good thing it turned out alright in the end. I see where you are coming from about the Marty firing. I dont think it was the right decision, but Snyder should have known what he was getting when he made the hiring. He had a disciplinarian reputation, and thats tough on players sometimes. The thing I didnt like about Marty was simple: He disrespected Darrell Green. I honestly don't remember what it was, but I remember hearing something from DG that Marty didnt treat him well...but I do agree that after an 8-8 season, you don't fire a coach nor do you fire a coach after the first year. by signing a new coach, you must must must give him a year or so in order to get the type of players he needs to succeed, and Marty was on his way to doing that :logo:

I think he got a raw deal, but it did lead to Gibbs, so I guess I can't complain.

I wasn't in the DC area at the time Schottenheimer was coaching(away at college), but I thought that he didn't deserve to be fired. Also, I can think of another coach who in his first season with the Redskins started 0-5, then finished the season 8-3. If I remember right he went on to be fairly successful.
