Oldskool
Lions | Rogers or Williams could be gone Fri, 12 May 2006 09:17:41 -0700 Tom Kowalski, of mLive.com, reports the Detroit Lions could part with either WR Charles Rogers or WR Mike Williams before the regular season. .......... It seems that neither of these guys fits the Lions new scheme and they have been unsucessful in Detroit under the old (soft) coaches and FO. SkinsTillIDie
God no... But it would not surprise me in the least if the Cowboys went ahead and signed another overrated, high maintance, wide reciever with horrible character

The Predator 26
To tell you the truth, I would love to have Mike Williams here. This will only be his second season and he's very talented. I really doubt the Lions will let him go though.
Warhead36
They wouldn't play much if at all and just raise their malcontent status. No thanks.
diesel22
First off -- I think JG is quite happy with with where we are at from a wr standpoint. Now, were we in the market...... Rodgers: Run, run like hell and never look back !!!!!!!! Williams: Huge upside and in the right system he could be a beast. Just don't expect him to outrun anybody. No, seriously......ANYBODY. I would take Big Joe or Griff in a foot-race against this dude
fdarugar
Wow, letting either one of these guys go would be pretty much crazy. Let them ride it out until the year before their contract is up atleast. Personally, I'd take a chance on Williams, Rogers has character issues but he would be a better fit and has more potential, imo. No way would we take either guy on though. jtyler42
neither posses what gibbs wantsspeed! Roger's actually has some speed, he is just injury prone, and has had some off-field issues...
Skins4481
Damn wasnt Rogers the second overall pick? I remember Steve Mariucci comparing him to TO. He showed some flashes when he was healthy and playing. I seriously doubt he goes. Its just way too early to give up on a guy you picked that high and the potential he has. Since Martz is all about speed, maybe Williams. But that would be a huge waste of a draft pick too. To be honest, I really wanted us to draft Mike Williams last year... I cant believe the Lions owner let Matt Millen draft a WR in the first round three striaght years. I also cant believe that stupid SOB didnt get fired immediately for it! TLusby
Gibbs Rule#1: Trade draft picks for NFL proven players! The Lions made three first round WR picks and all could be busts...but B. Lloyd is proven and will play well. Gibbs is the man and Lloyd only cost a third rounder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
RIDETHEWALRUS
We have more than enough speed on this team. Williams is an interesting prospect because he has great size and very good hands. Under the right coaching he will be a serious player in the NFL. I do not see us pusuing any of these guys because we have our possession reciever in Cooley, and we have a very good opening trio of WRs and Patten is friggin awsome for a 4th WR. I wouldn't be surprised to see any of our division rivals going after them though. Particularly NYG.
DiscoBob
I don't think either of these guys would like the idea of being a #5......
VAsBeachBoy
God let someone outside our division get these guys. Enough competition already. Falcons would be smart to get rogers or williams.
NavyDave
Rogers has shown he can run the nickle bag pattern quite well when he doesnt injure his shoulders. M Williams a Tightend playing a finesse WR position after an inflated college career at uSC Us Skinsfans who clamoured for Sean Taylor over the Soldier were right and those of us who clamoured for C Rogers over M Williams were right as well. DWinzit
You never know!!! Patten didn't cut the mustard last year. Thrash is still a ST maniac, but too slow to produce as a receiver. Jacobs, need I say more?

Lloyd is proven and will play well. Gibbs is the man and Lloyd only cost a third rounder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh no, that can't be right! Don't you read SI or watch ESPN? I know from those impeccable sources that the DRAFT - and NOT Free Agency - is the ONLY way to build a winning team.
Peregrine
Both of these guys have failed miserably in Detroit, where there is an extreme shortage of WR talent. If neither of them can even make #5 on the depthchart, or give the coaches ANY hope they can develop in a couple years to something serviceable, thats just bad. No thankyou. Peregrine
Good point TLusby. The Detroit lions attempted to build through the draft. Now they are going to have wasted a 1st round pick. We are going to have spent a 3rd and 4th rounder on talent far superior to said 1st round pick.
