Well with the recent news about the features of each new console I was wondering what console(s) are people most likely going to be interested in.

For me its probably gonna be the Nintendo wii, I just kinda grew up on nintendo and i totally rape in super smash brothers. I like the ps3 but $500 is way too much. Thoughts?

Some of the games look really cool.

The first impressions of the use of the Wii-mote for the new Mario game are looking quite good and Zelda is going to be available at launch.

i haven't been watching too much E3, did they change zelda to be for the revolution? edit: damn it, i mean "wii"

nintendo revolutionized gaming decades ago. but since genesis came out, nintendo has been a joke. nintendo sucks and has for the past 15 years or so, let it go. they aren't making loot enough to justify staying in the race. sega realized their time was up and got into strictly the games, and make a killing now, nintendo could follow suit, but then again, all they make is games for 10 year olds. i'm a sony man myself. never disappoints :2cents:

nintendo has been making a comeback in the last years of the gamecube, more 3rd party developers are determined to make games for the new system, and although its not a popular system in america, gamecube is doing spectacular in japan.

at gamestop in va beach, gamecube debuted at $499 with a game, and 2 controllers. 3 months later on his birthday, my brother bought the same thing from the same store for $129.....and it's doing good? i'm confused. meanwhile, you have ps1, which has been out a LOT longer, and still retails for more, and still makes more money.

anyone who would pay $500 for a gamecube+ game + extra controller EVER is a moron. and systems get MUCH cheaper when the next gen is just around the corner ESPECIALLY when the new one is backwards compatable.

oh, and i said its doing spectacular in JAPAN.

the comeback is more in the games, not sales. they've been trying to bring more mature audiences into the system. games like geist (which could have been better) take away from the gamecubes kiddie connotation and make it a more mature system. also nintend is gonna be online next year, so that will fix a huge disadvantage they had in the current gen system.

it was 3 months after gamecube was released. nothing drops off that much. and plenty of idiots did pay that much for GC....i would never pay that much for any console.

oops, i thought you said 3 months AGO. my mistake. either way, it should never have been marked at $500. it would have been cheaper to buy the different things individually.

that's so true. also, i found out no need to be impatient and go for the christmas rush. i paid $100 less on ps2 just by waiting till february :D

Nintendo is never leaving the console business until 3 straight consoles flop. And I mean flop, like Virtual Boy flop. Not N64 or Gamecube "flop." Even if that some how happens their handheld sales will make them way more than enough money to make another console. So we're gonna have to see 3 Virtual Boys then the DS stop selling worldwide before Nintendo leaves the market.

Nintendo almost anally controls hardware costs, building their consoles for much less money than MS or Sony do. Does that mean less advanced hardware goes into their new systems? Yes, but they turn a profit on the hardware much faster than MS or Sony do. They turn enough profit as the 3rd console in America to keep developing and selling new ones.

By the way, the Super Nintendo came out after the Sega Genesis and I'd have to say that ok.

I thought those things were 200$ at launch, talking about the gamecube?

Man did you get ripped off.

Sony's retail price is going to be $699.00 when it debuts this November. Add a game and an extra controller and your looking at $800.00. How can you be a Sony fan at this point. I don't see that price dropping for another year or so after the launch. The system to go with if you want Next gen now is Xbox 360. I am a fan of no system. Which ever one has the best prices and games out is the one I'm a fan of. I'm attempted to buy the Wii just for Zelda, but there going to have to do more than that.

I never remember Gamecube being that much. I never had any interest to buy that syatem anyways. You can get a PS1 for $49.00 and the PS2 for $79.oo.

You say that you would never pay that much for a system but you want Sony's system. Your going to have to wait 3 years to get something in your price range. I am not a die hard gamer but I enjoy playing sports, shooters, and racing games online. The 360 is going to have some crazy looking games this year and next for a much affordable price. I haven't bought a 360 yet but wait until you see the NCAA 07 and Madden. They are looking exactly like PS3 Madden and NCAA 07.

gamecube debuted at 199 bills.

Don't forget that extra $.99

If someone actually paid $500 for a Gamecube that is their fault not Nintendo's.

I got mine when it went to $100. I love the dumb thing. I play Madden, Battlefront, and such on my PC and I have that Gamecube for Smash Bros, Mario Kart (8 player networked is INSANE), and Mario Party with the family. Donkey Konga rules too! :)

My PC will always be my powerful gaming system (I don't game very much though) and Nintendo will always be number 2 so I can play the fun stuff.

I think Wii looks amazing and it's about time somebody did something different with a console. There hasn't been a major improvement since Mario 64 with the analog stick and camera controls in my opinion.

for a guy that likes to sit down and play video games for like 30 minutes a week nintendo is looking awfully enticing...

I am pretty sure that is what Nintendo is banking on.

I read somewhere that a Microsoft exec said that it would be a good idea to get a 360 and a Wii instead of a PS3.

I thought that was kind of funny but it proves that Wii is being seen as a second system or a system for someone who just wants to play games with their family and the occasional blockbuster (Metroid, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros).

My brother is getting a Wii the day it comes out. He's been talking that thing up for a while now, and that controller looks pretty neat.

I don't see myself getting a PS3 the day it comes out. We just got an Xbox 360 last weekend, and we only did it because three of us went in on it together.

$600 is a lot of money, that pays my 1/4 of the house every month.

That, and I'm just not into games as much as I used to be. When all you play is Madden or NHL2K6, you don't need to run out & buy the best/newest system right away......

And anyone who says Nintendo has sucked since Genesis came out has obviously never played the 64.

My thoughts exactly.

I like the concept of the Wii, but I'm afraid it will either be really awesome or really suck. I might have to wait for a friend to get one and try it out for myself first, or at least hear some very good independent reviews.
