DC_Skins
Sony has defended its decision to offer two versions of its forthcoming PlayStation 3 (PS3) games console. Senior Sony executive Phil Harrison said the models were aimed at different types of consumers. The games giant has been criticised for offering a lower end model without several significant features. The console is due to go on sale in November, with prices starting at $499 in the US and 499 euros (£341) in Europe. NoCalMike
I want one, and I will be getting the high-end model....eventually. I might though just wait until I get my tax return and then use that, since this will be double the price of any gaming system I have spent money on before. After seeing the footage from E3 this year, it is clear that the PS3 will be the best console of out the big three companies.
pseto
I'm down for the bug kahuna too. I wish EB would let us put down deposits now that the price is settled. Anyone have an update on that?

dfitzo53
I don't see how offering a choice could be a bad thing, but if I were going to buy the system (and I have no plans to do so) I'd go for the top-tier model.
lckelsey4
Way too expensive for me. I'm thinking Wii or X360 now.
DCsportsfan53
I think I'm going to wait in the lines, buy two, sell one Ebay for twice the price and get mine for free. I don't think I can reasonably justify $600 for a video game console, especially since Madden is about the only game I play.

I talked to somebody at EB games on tuesday. They said that they'll most likely be starting to take reservations on Monday, and that you'll need to put down 100 bones. I'll be doing it, i'm very excited about the system and it's capabilities even though I wish it were cheaper
smalex41
Why be perturbed?, if you have an "obsession" for the product and you feel like your life will "sink" into a state that you will not recover from, "SIMPLY BUY THE DAMMED THING" at any cost and keep your gripes to yourself. Is someone or something "twisting" your arm?
NoCalMike
If you can afford $100/month or even $50-$75/month, then if you get on the pre-order list this month, it should be paid for by the time it comes out.

I've called them everyday for the past week or so, and couldn't get anything more than 'I don't know'. I'll probably reserve/buy a few and get mine free too. J3553
sony didn't come under fire because they are selling it at two pricepoints. it's because the lower end model is not upgradable. with the 360, the lower end package can be upgraded to the higher end package later if you want to buy the extra parts. smart move by ms. mhd24
super smash brother brawl is on the wii. Thats enough for me. Plus Solid Snake is a playable character! That's enough of a reason to get a Wii.
QBkilla56
Hmmmm, seems like i've read this before... Oh wait he criticized Microsoft for releasing 2 different models. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=11209 Hypocrite. But yeah i'm still going to buy all of the systems. Ps3 is still my most anticipated console of this generation.
Metalhead
yeah I think I may try to get a next-gen playstation on time this go-round. I didn't get a ps2 until the slim version came out and I didn't get a gamecube until they were down to $60 used. With a ps3, a nice hdtv and a decent stereo, you're entertainment needs will be filled for quite some time. That's what I'm aiming for. So we can make like $75-100 monthly payments? I waste more than that on cd's, dvd's and mountian dew each and every month. I can handle those payments easy.
