given the recent additions of randle el, lloyd, fauria, coach Al Saunders, and expected improvement of a cohesive offensive line, where do you expect our offense to rank next year. I personally feel like our run offense will be top 5 in the league, and our total offense will be ranked around 4th-8th best in the league. our offense was pretty good last year for the most part, and we have made some huge additions, so I expect to have one of the better offenses in the league this year

Our offense will show great improvement this year with our new additions. We will move into the top ten in offense and be top five in D.

You know what those to rankings combined add up to?

Playoffs, championship........................:3rdplace:

We were 11th in total yards and 13th in scoring. People seem to forget just how fantastic the offense was in stretches last year. Consistency was lacking, and, frankly, I'd expect there to be some of that lacking this year too as we adjust to a new system. We have the talent to be in the Top 5, but, I imagine we'll wind up around No. 8 with some big swings.

But Art, how different is this "new" system

The big thing is the language is the same. The players won't be learning new vocabulary

With the continuity the o-line will have along with Portis knowing the line better, this will be a top 3 rushing attack

I think you will see a very consistant performance from the offense barring injury

The terminology is similar, but I do not think the language is the same. There's more timing in this offense as well, which we did precious little of since Spurrier left. From what I've seen Brunell say already, this is a pretty big change and we'll get better with time. Also, most teams have the ability to run pretty much the same plays. It's how you build those plays together that creates an attitude. We became a power team again last year. While Saunders won't take that away, the identity does change a bit.

I would expect given how much timing there is in the system you could see a greater ramp up than in another system.

Honestly, I don't (as do many others) think Randle El is going to make a big splash at WR. However, I am very excited about Lloyd. He has the talent, and is still very young. Couple that with Moss, and a stud at RB, not to mention the O-line.....Damn, I expect a lot from this offense.

EDIT: Sorry, I forgot, we have arguably the best Offensive and Defensive coordinators in the league. Wow. The Superbowl takes some luck to get to, e.g. injuries, etc., but the fact that the "sports journalists" don't look at this team as a serious contender is beyond me.

I don't want to be a homer but I'd say top 10 for sure. With all the weapons we have on offense it's really hard to imagine anything else. I think that it will take some time for the players to adjust to the new system, but nothing that will set us back. I'd like to start off the season with a win at home and hope for a win in DalASS but I think it's more like 1-1. We could go 2-0 if our offense kicks into gear with 4 minutes left in the 4th :D

while I dont think Randle El will make a big difference every down, hes such a threat that defenses must pay close attention to him. he will probably have one or two big plays a game, whether its a screen pass, an end around or reverse, or him getting the ball and throwing a pass as he did on the Steelers. Lloyds receiving numbers will most likely be better, but Randle El is the best slot receiver there is in the NFL, and he will open up a lot of oppurtunities in the passing game and helping bring defenders out of the box for Portis.

one more thing to add. id say the offense would be top 5 easily if we played in an average decision, but given the great defenses we will be facing this year, i think we'll be between 5 and 10, around 7 or 8 maybe

As much as i'd like to say top 5, i have to think about the fact that we play in the, quite possibly, most defensive division in the league. i also realize that we are a run first team, and knowing Gibbs, we will stick to that. I also do believe that we arent going to be EXPLODING out of the gates, it's going to be a somewhat bold and quiet offense, having it's hot flashes enough to put points on the board early, then calming down to ball control for the second half.

As much as I want to say top 5, im going top 10. Its premature to think we take such a collosal leap in ranking from one season to the next. However, if there is ANY year its possible, its this one, mainly because of our new OC. Im staying safe and going with top 10, hoping for top 5 :-P

Interesting. I admit, I haven't followed Randle closely, but I've seen the highlights just as everyone else had. No doubt he is a threat. And you know what? Gibbs isn't running the offense, so Randle might see a bunch more plays than Gibbs was willing to give him. Saunders is an innovator, so it'll be interesting to see what he can do.

Wrong trophy. You want this one :1stplace:

I say the Offense and Defense will be top 5 and we have a team that looks alot like the 1991-92 team.

I think that we will be one of the top 5 offenses if our OL stays healthy.

We have the skill players at RB, WR, and QB that are needed to allow both our running and passing attack to work. If our OL can give our QB time to look for the 2nd and 3rd receiver without having to resort to a QB roll-out then we will be able to open-up the whole field of play.

Last season Mark used his legs to roll-out in order to buy time for Santana to get open. That worked well because of Marks accuracy and Santana's athletic talent. The designed roll-out used so ofter last season will not be used much this next season because the game plan will be to spread the field both horizontally and vertically using four really good receivers. The addition of two very good WRs will create a single-coverage mismatch somewhere; and Mark has the experience see it and the accuracy to hit the open receiver. The only counter defenses have is to get to our QB before the play opens-up.

From what I have read, Al Saunders is a master at mixing up the plays to keep defenses off balance and in disguising what play is coming. I expect to see a more wide-open offensive game under Al Saunders (more often passing on first down).

The only thing that could keep us from being the best offense is the performance of the OL. I do think our core group are very good and will get the job done. As we saw at the end of last season, one injury in the OL can cause a major impact; so, as long as the OL can stay healthy we will be one of the best offenses in the league.

In summary, I think the addition to two very good WRs and the acquisition of Al Saunders will result in the Redskins offense taking it to the next level.
