Brianbien83
?? Huh? What you talkin bout. Bonds just hit 713. I didn't see it, but it was apparently a bomb. On a side note, Jose Guillen hit one of the hardest balls today I've ever seen. It was a missile. Only one I've seen hit further at RFK was...Bonds. Hondo was 6' 7" and used to hit monsterous homers. They used to paint seats in the upper deck of the RFK outfield where his blasts landed.

I actually had the opportunity to meet Frank at a signing at a hobby shop I frequent. I wanted a unique piece for my father for Christmas. So I did a little reasearch into the famed "White Seats" and found the exact location of one of them. I then had Frank Inscribe his signature with the section, row and seat numbers. It looks great and Dad has a piece that no one else does. Oh, I point out those white seats to everyone I take to RFK the first time!

Galaraga (sp?) hit one in Florida that prompted his third base coach to say: "If that had been a sacrifice fly, the entire state of Rhode Island could have tagged up."

I'd be interested to see how long it takes for the effects of steroids to "wear off." I mean, if you use for 5 years, and you still lift after you stop using, how long before you revert to your pre-roidal self? I mean, I think that there can really be little denial that Barry used. The question is, do the effects still linger? I mean, if he's still lifting, can he manage to maintain the muscle mass he built while using? skinsn24
Now notice that the everyone was juicin after those years, including pitchers (look at how many have been suspended) IN 1992 adn 1996 bonds led the league in HR per at bat with 13.9 and 12.3 Then flash forwad to 1999. Bonds averaged 1 HR per every 10.3 at bats and you know what he was ranked? 5th in the league. So dont act like it is only Barry

skinsn24
I agree, this thread should prob be merged with another reason to hate bonds thread. but yes Bonds was one of the best players ever before the HR era. he was a 30-30 man. A gold glover and an incredible power hitter. Is it his fault that all the other players starting juicin? Then he made the wrong decision to juice as well but if everybodies doin it.... The question is, do the effects still linger? I mean, if he's still lifting, can he manage to maintain the muscle mass he built while using? Okay, so there is no way that the steroids are still in his system. Yes the "effects" will always be evident. He definitely lost some strength but his overall size will remain. Bottom line is no matter how big you are you have to put the wood on the ball. Period! The biggest guy's in the world can't go yard if you can't see/hit the ball. All of the steroid talk is a bit exagerated IMO. Yes it makes you stronger but it also reduces your flexibility. Not to mention the fact that all of your power in hitting comes from your hips. No matter how big your guns and pecs are if you don't have a strong core you can't hit the ball as deep as Barry just did. For those who call it cheating, is he still cheating? Doubt it, way too risky and he's still going deep. Here's a quick question to the ethic's committe. Are steroids illegal to use or just illegal to buy? If he actually didn't purchase them himself and someone else gave them to him did he actually do anything illegal? Since they weren't banned by baseball and baseball was well aware of it and capitalized on it did he cheat?
