Art
will the OTA coverage be this good? We'll see. OTAs are covered entirely differently than camps. We do expect you'll see the actual media figure out there's an actual market for this coverage and probably have to improve going forward as they got ripped to shreds this weekend . flexxskins
Has anybody read the career stats on Jesse Lumsden? The guy has a face like a baby and stats like some kind of mutant RB. He must have some kind of afterburners to be running 108 yard TDs and having 300 yard games, sheesh.
Hauss
Great job. Many years ago, when I first started following the team, the home games were blacked out locally. Now, I can hear first hand what is happening a rookie minicamp.

He broke one yesterday....he appears to be one of those guys who can 'sense' when a holes about to open. I think a lot of the great kick returners have that knack - its not always about speed, sometimes knowing when to make a move is more important than raw talent. I agree with JimmiJo, theres something about this guy. I'm betting he sticks.

Currently we have 6 on the roster. Three notable ones are Portis, Bettis, and Rock. I thought Nemo was a RB but hes listed at FB as is Manuel White. But still I don't see how we can keep Portis, Bettis, Rock, and this guy. Are you thinking possible Practice Squad candidate?
chow184
I really hope Lumsden is playing RB I remember the Saunders interview and the host called lumsden a fullback. I really hopes he sticks around and gets alot of carries in pre-season. I could see us making a 4th spot for him if he tears it up in pre-season

Hard to say, because you're exactly right - the dilemma we've got is that we don't have a lot of glaring holes. I'm not convinced Nemo OR White (regardless of what we're calling them) have shown enough to make this team. We'll have to see what happens injury-wise prior to the season first of all. He'd likely start out as a standout special teamer if he makes the team. And yes, he could be a practice squad guy. But I don't think its inconceivable that the guy could supplant Cartwright - he's definitely got an uphill battle in front of him, you're correct there. I will with hold judgment until seeing him, but one note I do want to make is I'm not sure about White, but it seems to me like the staff is in love with nemo. I could see the FB's being listed as Sellers and Nemo. TE's fauria and cooley and rbs being portis, rock, bettis, and lumsden possibly. Not sure if thats too many roster spots. I would assume not though.
murtceps
can nemo block? he will have to to make this team - not sure he ever has been called to do this, meaningfully re tb position, alot is said about betts and rock being locks - lumsden is bigger, faster, stronger and younger than both, literally - think about that for a second - plus, he has vision - people who think betts and rock are locks are going to be surprised with the preseason games this lumsden kid is not a scrub - every time he faces long odds (assuming no injury) he utterly smashes them i think saunders will want to get lumsden touches right away, somehow, during the regular season - he is too talented to throw on a pr for a year or two down the road

Now I think the chore becomes tempering my admiration with the reality that this was only Rookie Camp. I can't wait to see what Mini Camp brings... I agree with JimmiJo, theres something about this guy. I'm betting he sticks. I'd love to see this kid make the team. I think it was DieHard that posted a story about him when he was first signed. I didn't have to read much before I realized, "Damn, this kid sounds like a prototypical Redskin." I'll be anxious to see if he gets carries at RB in the pre-season, and see how he does against guys that are going to make NFL teams. From what I understand, he was a difficult pre-season cut for the Seahawks last year. I like Rock, but I don't trust him to carry the load if, God forbid, Portis and Betts go down. Lumsden is a fairly-well proven commodity, having carried the load -- albeit in the CFL. Great work as always Tarhog. Keep us up to date.
howarddjay2
Jimmo, How did Darrell Nesbit do? I went to High School with him, and was just checking on him. I saw that they switched him from QB to WR. Do you think he has a shot to make it to Camp in August?

Do you think he has a shot to make it to Camp in August? I wasn't there on Day 3, but Nesbitt (as I mentioned in another thread) was easily the best performer among the QBs on Saturday. Throws a pretty ball, and was pretty athletic. He also can scramble and took off for a long run at least once Saturday. I don't think he's got a realistic chance of making this team. We're stocked at WR, and we're not going to carry a project QB (believe we still have Bryson Spinner around already although I'm not positive about that). Jumbo
In no way am I trying to be a wet blanket, but out here Lumsden was behind Marquis Weeks and Kerry Carter (no Betts or Rock) on the depth chart with the seahawks even before he had his hip injury (august '05) and wasn't expected to remain. He's been getting way better press here and seems like a great kid. Now that was then and this is now, so I'm hopeful, especially with my boyz feeding these first-hand observations to us, so we'll see. If he is picked over Nemo, given Buge's pro-Nemo remarks, Nemo's press, the developmental time and pick invested, I'd be wondering how to correlate all the Nemo stuff being accurate with what is known of Lumsden to this point. I have been hoping to see Nemo start to realize "the story" that I got pumped on last year. Of course, I just want the best players at the end of the day and trust the coaches for that, being the consummate homer I am. If Jesse does make the team (I'm all for ya, Jesse), I still hope Nemo will remain as ST and future FB, because I already bought into him

Peregrine
I suppose its also not out of the question that Cartwright could play FB(white or nemo gets cut), if Lumsden really shows alot.
