tr1
"More than half of the 50 minutes of the news conference at the Cowboys' headquarters in Irving, Texas, were devoted to Owens, including how the star receiver will fit in with his new team." http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/14515625.htm It's well known what TO can do on the field. When he applies himself, he can put up the numbers...but, 1) TO is a distraction to his team. Now, more than ever, the press' attention will center on the drama of BP vs. TO, TO vs. Philly, TO vs. McNabb. TO vs. Philly's Garcia. Every week, news conferences will be about TO. How long will it take for BP to get sick of it and call the media out? How long before players openly express dissatisfaction with TO dominating the spot light? Pehaps his production will keep things quite...but if TO doesn't produce, he'll be the first to complain...but not share the blame. 2) TO is older. Having come off major injuries the last two years, one has to wonder how durable he'll be during his Cowboy experience. 3) TO is not a team player. Aside from his mid-field antics or Sharpie circus, TO is concerned about his production, not his teams' success. When things have gone bad during a season or critical game, TO has not been supportive of his teammates, particularly his quarterbacks. First Garcia and then McNabb, each has taken sharp jabs in public from TO when they could have used some words of encouragement or no words, at all. 4) TO will have at least one crisis this year. It happened in SF, it happened each year in Philly...it will happen this year. If his production is up, he'll feel under-appreciated. If his production is down, it'll be his teammates' fault. JJ will regret the day he signed TO.
Big Weirdo
I think they have a slight idea of what he might give them: 2004 Receptions: 77, Yards: 1200, Avg: 15.6 yards, TDs:

Fred Jones
Adversity will be the key. If the pukes win TO will not be an issue. If they start to lose or TO doesn't get his minimum balls thrown at him the problems will start to come out.
Westbrook36
He'll be an angel in 2006. All we have to hope is that they don't dominate in 2006. By 2007, TO's guard to be good will be down and the real ******* will emerge.

RIDETHEWALRUS
I am kinda happy that TO stayed in the division. He will likely have good games against the feagles and giants, but when he sees ST coming for him he will collapse again (8 rec 70 yds 1 TD in 2 games against the skins in 2004). Then again I don't blame him, it is kinda hard to focus on football when he has to change out his stained drawers after every series.
Westbrook36
dominate? the brokeback boys couldnt dominate a cupcake. They looked pretty damned good last year, in stretches. What is it about some of you that you can't even fathom any other NFC East team being good? It's tiresome.

I was at both of those games in 2004 and he couldn't break the big play...all of his catches were short passes under coverage.... we didn't even give him the chance to make a play... well...except the TD... SkinsHokieFan
Granted T.O is a very well conditioned athlete, and looked fantastic last year But the man is now 33. 33 is a big difference from 31, especially in the NFL And on top of that, the Eagles offense going into 2004 was a far superior offense to the Cowboys going into 2006. That Eagles O had a better O-line and a better threat of a running game, and a confident Donavan McNabb who could scramble for 11 seconds and fire a pass 60 yards downfield The Cowboys do have some players on that offense, but TO is NOT entering the situation he was in Philly in 2004

CowboysForLife
T.O.'s contract is built in 3 1-year deals. If T.O. starts to act up, we could just drop him immediately, which, IMO, will happen after this year. The reason T.O. acted up in Philly was that he didn't get the money he wanted. McNabb is also not an angel. Parcells has worked with players like this (Lawrence Taylor, etc) And, onedrop, that is a typical homer's response. The thing is, we can dominate a cupcakes. We've owned you cupcakes since 1995. Last year was the exception, not the rule. I'm looking forward to 10 more years of Dallas owning you cupcakes. For the next 10 years, I feel sorry for your cupcake dogs, because you cupcakes will be kicking the **** out of them. /rant off
RIDETHEWALRUS
I didn't have the opportunity to go to the game, but watching it on TV let me know that ST was in TO's head big time. ST kept bumping him every chance he got, ran his mouth like crazy and made sure to give that little bit extra on every hit (for example when he spiked TO when they were both falling out of bounds). I know that TO is a big dude, and able to make big plays, but his ego limits him when someone gets in his head. My hyping up of ST isn't some form a homerism. I fully recognize that there are some darn good safeties in our division, but ST is the only one who is big enough to intimidate all WRs.

RIDETHEWALRUS
CowboysForLife, you have to discount the 90's because the girls had a built in advantage. While the redskins were struggling with the likes of Norv and our athletes were training to play ball we could still get tired. The girls never had to worry about getting tired because of the mountains of cocaine yall were bumping. I bet Irving runs a 5.3 40 when he doesn't have the wheyo.
Sniffler
Unfortunately, T.O. is gonna be an aninmal next year... if anything, just to silence the critics....regardless of his age... the guys self-motivation to be the best is amazing... he's just not gonna be able to do anything against us

speedmike
Reggie Brown??? Reggie Brown could very conceivably be Philly's #1 for years to come. I'm sure Who Del or Westbrook can bring the stats on this board- he lit it up against us last year. We had a real tough time stopping Brown last year. TO was a great addition for the Cowboys- definitely making them tougher. I haven't seen the 'boys make a solid effort to bolster that O-line, and that's going to spell trouble in the '06 season.
