A few statements on a few of our newest rookies

Hello my fellow redskin fans this is my 1st post and i didnt see these posted anywhere so here's some good things said about a few of our new hopefuls! Anthony Montgomery, Minnesota – Big Ten scouts are convinced Montgomery’s stock will soar after he works out at next February’s combine in Indianapolis. They’re infatuated with the 300-pounder’s quickness and agility, and feel he’s capable of playing his way into next April’s first round. Montgomery plays under control, has a good feel for the position and uses his hands well. He could be the highest Gopher defensive lineman drafted since Carl Eller was taken No. 6 overall in 1964.

Shades of…Tommie Harris

Rocky McIntosh, Miami – McIntosh is an every down player at the next level, who’s flashed the quickness and strength at Miami to excel at all three linebacker spots. He plays the game very fast and very physically, making his presence felt even when he’s not in on a tackle. McIntosh has endured a spate of injuries over the past two years, including a bone chip that required knee surgery this month that could negatively impact his draft grade : Shades of .... Joey Porter Kevin Simon, Tennessee – If not for a chequered medical history, Simon would have no business being ranked this low. However, he’s endured a broken ankle and three knee surgeries, the most recent following an ACL tear last September. He’ll be ready by the start of the season, but durability questions will linger. Simon plays at just under 6-0 and 235 pounds, but is a dynamic athlete, who can take over a game with his disruptive closing speed when he’s healthy.

Spencer Havner, UCLA – For the past three seasons, Havner has epitomized the term “tackling machine”. He’s a hearty 6-4 and 245 pounds, and best located on the field by following the pigskin. He lacks top closing speed, which probably kept him from entering last year’s draft, but consistently stays in the mix by anticipating well and taking the right angles. Havner plays smart and is a sure tackler, but needs to get quicker or else be considered a liability on passing downs in the pros.
