REDPepper
Kicker out of Virginia. Came close to Nick Novak's ACC All-time points record. He is VERY accurate, has medium kick strength at this point though. I know we're content with John Hall, but would it be worth it to bring in Hughes just to see what he's got? or at least when Hall magically gets injured this year again... skindogger47
Connor Hughes would be an upgrade over Hall.
TheHumanHitstick#21
i agree with you especially after seeing his leg at the college all star challenge he seems pretty dependable
Warhead36
I thought he'd get drafted, pretty surprised he didn't. I think the problem with him was that he didn't do the kickoffs in College.

REDPepper
i say he's not ready for the NFL yet, because his kicking strength just isn't there yet, but he's a guy you can really COUNT on to make the easy ones, even the medium ones
TheHumanHitstick#21
we also picked up an undrafted punter so if we get Hughes maybe the future of our kickers/punters is set?
REDPepper
with kickers you just dont know about their futures. I think the only reason hughes wasnt drafted is because last year's deal with nugent in the second round made gm's realize to stay away from kickers IN the draft

diesel22
I like the kid from Memphis -- did he get drafted? He has a cannon and from what I have seen is pretty accurate too
CPstretch
with our kicking game it cant hurt to try out anybody

Yes, he got drafted. He went before Plackemeier, the punter Seattle took in the 6th that I was hoping the Redskins would draft.

FootballGuy2677
I still say we should just get Nick Novak. That guy wants and loved being a Redskin and did a fine job while he was here...
mookie0720
He has WAY over normal leg strength. This guy has ridiculous distance in kickoffs for a college kicker.
Guest santana4prez
I would love to have Connor Hughes but I think Gibbs likes John Hall and thinks he is ready to comeback strong from the injuries of the last couple seasons.
CPstretch
last year gibbs had chandler come in for competition and ended up cutting him. i dont see why bringing someone in for competition would be so bad
Guest santana4prez
The Skins have a kicker in NFL Europe maybe they dont want to sign another kicker and let Hall compete with this guy.

Are you sure you arent talking about Kurt Smith. I love Connor Hughes but Smith did the Kickoffs. I still say we should just get Nick Novak. That guy wants and loved being a Redskin and did a fine job while he was here... Nick Novak is with the Arizona Cardinals right now.
McMetal
Hughes signed with the Saints. I really wanted him too...this kid will be money in the NFL.
Weganator
Novak is gonna have to compete with Neil Rackers for the kicking job up at AZ... so we can probably take the loser of the high quality kicking contest after June 1st and still get a decent kicker. Ernie5
Hughes is not an upgrade over Hall. Hall, even hurt, has a stronger leg and a better chance of doing kickoffs.
The Ringer
The Skins have a kicker in NFL Europe maybe they dont want to sign another kicker and let Hall compete with this guy. I think the kicker you are talking about is Ola Kimrin and it looked as though he was associated with another team like the Bears or something. So thats out the door, however don't sleep on Greg Kuehn out of William and Mary.
Thirtyfive2seven
Didn't Novak have a few VERY low kicks that were blocked? I seem to remember 2 of them specifically. At least Hall gets the ball in the air quickly!
