Gigantor
I remember when Al Saunders joined the team that people were saying Gibbs will "step-aside" and perform only GM duties, etc. It looks to me like he's in command and knows everything about this team, not only offensively, but on defense too. He is the general... he is in charge of everything and nothing (in detail) at the same time. He will coordinate everything IMO, offense, defense, ST, FO, and such an amazing individual with so much freedom can only make us an amazing team. SkinsNeverDie
Honestly, I dont think a lot of people thought Gibbs thought Gibbs role would change.

Was there ever really any doubt. I think the people who said such things about Gibbs doesn't really understand him. From a coaching perspective all he has done is surround himself with some of the most brilliant offensive and defensive minds in the game getting himself up to speed and allowing him to oversee all aspects of the team. B.A.M.F.
Is it just me, or does he seem rather pleased of late. In all of his interviews and such I've seen he is smiling and making jokes, like that comment about SS walking... I think that this is a good thing, he must feel things are going well. Boy is this quote ever right on the money. Thanks to an owner willing to spend the money on coaching, he really is surrounded by the best. I don't believe there is another staff that can be compared to what the organization has created.
DiscoBob
If Gibbs decides to hang it up in a couple of years, I hope he consider's moving up to a "figure head" type of position rather than leave all together. I think just having him a part of the organization keeps us headed in the right direction.....
DWinzit
I don't see Danny Boy letting him just walk out. Organizatons withhout consistency won't make it. Look at us in the pre Gibbs second time era. The longer he stays with us, the longer we stay consistant. And how about the class and repect Gibbs brings to the table? That is a whole other story!!! I've noticed this too. He seems like he can't wait for the season to start. In the previous two seasons he came across as being a lot more stressed out.I'm glad he is having fun again and has a team he loves.
zoony
This is exactly how I see his role evolving. He will have less and less to do with the x's and o's, and more to do with putting everyone in a position to succeed. This includes coaches, players, trainers, scouts, FO personnel, and even Larry Michael . Gibbs is very process oriented. He will continue to get the processes in place that will help the team succeed... and the people in place that are able to make the processes flow as smoothly as possible. .... CPstretch
if you think of it, gibbs is starting to have HIS team to coach instead of a team he inherited. there are very few people still left on the team from before gibbs return. so he now has the people around him that he selected. that would make me happy too. bigdog77s
Well I just Figured that Gibbs would still do what he does. Great head coach and team leader. Al would as offense coordinator would call the plays. Williams would take care of D... and Gibbs would look over all.
CPstretch
gibbs will look over all. but you can count on him and saunders gameplanning together which i get really excited thinking about. gibbs is an offensive genius, and i dont see him giving that up, despite having another offensive genius in al saunders on board
bigdog77s
It is intresting. Joe Bugal is an Asst. Head Coach, and Al Saunders is Assoc. Head Coach
Spartacus87
I think Snyder will crawl on his knees begging before letting Gibbs walk out the door for good now that they've developed a good working relationship the past couple of years. Whenever Gibbs does decide to hang up the headset, I wouldn't be surprised to see him take some kind of major FO role to help guide things some more, with his hand in everything from coaches, to the draft, to free agency, everything. Hell, maybe he'll even take over for Larry Michael and host RedskinsTV. I'd tune in religiously just to hear that Gibbs Giggle every day.
