chimster7
I think Philly is really smart with their drafting, they added alot of people on both sides of the line. To me a great lines represent the true cores of winning teams. Lines create pressure and protection. The two things that really decide a game. With a great O-Line an average QB or RB can carve up a D and with a great D-Line a defense can neutrialize awesome recievers and take away the long passing game. Anyone agree with me? Big Weirdo
I agree with you chimster. I think most people agree with what you're saying. Don't expect a lot to agree with you on Philly though. Philly had the best draft of all the NFC East teams. Adding two awesome guys in the first two picks. Then continuing that on day 2 with Jean-Gilles and adding Avant and Bloom. I'm absolutely loving our draft and hopefully it translates just as well on the field.
RiggoReincarnated
Makes you wonder why the Skins didn't target a top tier offensive lineman
tr1
Philly didn't address their primary need...#1 WR. Doesn't anyone listen to McNabb? As for draftees, they don't win SBs. Let's see if they pan out.
Birdlives
That's why they've won so many superbowls. Oh, wait...
chimster7
They really do need a Wideout. Even with a great line, so guy's got to get open. They dropped the ball with Walker. I mean saving picks for the draft and resignin players is a dandy strategy but when you have horrible luck in picking a position like WR then it is time to pony up and get a good one through FA. That is why the Eagles will never win the super bowl. That and Andy Reid wanting to throw the ball 50 times per game.
Big Weirdo
I was upset about the Eagles not getting Walker. BUT.. I am withholding any real opinions until I see how Reggie Brown does this year. Who knows? Maybe we won't miss out on getting Walker after all?
fdarugar
I loved the Eagles draft...Brown is a potential #1 target and it looks like they are going to give him the season's experience to prove it.
TerpsEagles
The Eagles apparently had a long term deal agreed to w/ Walker and offered GB a 2nd rounder and a 4th. GB took a better pick from Denver and got Walker out of the division... not much the Eagles could do... not much I would want them to do differently given the situation. Not sure what else you all would expect them to do. I realize the Skins throw draft picks away like they were yesterdays newspapers .... but if the options were to sign Walker and not get Justice, I'll take a pass on that. Like it or not, the Eagles got better through this draft. And God forbid some of you actually realize that the offseason isn't over yet..... there will be a WR to be had still.... McMetal
GB got Walker out of the division... Too bad you couldn't do the same with TO. Now we have to put up with that jackhole in an otherwise classy division for the next 3 + years... (And yes, I feel the same way about Arrington. Our bad...) This whole AL East mentality is just retarded. Our teams aren't going to get any better beating the snot out of each other all year. We're just going to get banged up and all end between 7-9 and 9-7 while teams in the cupcake divisions like Minnesota and Seattle will cruise along to home field advantage in the playoffs. Why did we all have to get good at the same time?
skinz4evr
Go ahead, get a WR through FA, we already got ALL THE GOOD ONES. But otherwise your team had a really good draft.

Philly's philosophy is smart...to a point. If they had any hopes of winning the super bowl, they needed to get the Walker deal done. Having said that, they did improve themselves through the draft. As did Dallas and NY.
Westbrook36
Eagles offered a 2 AND a 4 AND had a lucrative deal worked out with Walker. GB didn't want to deal him in the division so they took a lesser deal from Denver.

Having said that, they did improve themselves through the draft. As did Dallas and NY. Well, I wanted Walker, but would it be worth it at the expense of trading both your 2nd and 3rd round picks (Justice and GoCong), and then having to sign him to a lucrative long term deal? I was for getting him with the 2nd round pick, but anything past that was too much for someone coming off an ACL tear. Also, I don't understand the comment that draftees don't win SBs. They may not the first year they're picked, but they generally form a nucleus which allows teams to accomplish their ultimate goal.
Fred Jones
I am still mad at Buffalo for their pick because they should have taken Bunkley so Philly could not take him at 14. If he turns out to be a good player I am not going to be happy.
Westbrook36
Buffalo definitely screwed the pooch. Only thing I can think of is they thought McCargo was as good of a prospect as Bunkley so they could take him later and get Whitner at 8. Definitely a head scratcher. Bostic Hog
It is amusing how Walker was at the Linc, at the Eagles draft party, and everyone was all in his shorts, his phone rang, and off he went to Denver. The Eagles were'nt interested in Walker, that's why he went to Denver.
Big Weirdo
The Eagles wanted Walker. GB held all the cards though. Can't fault the Eagles for that. Guess they're just cheap. Check out the new sig, boys.

Westbrook36
Not a smart move to make deals when you have to pay a kings ransome, just because you are in the same conference. A first round pick is serious bounty in the NFL. You don't go throwing those things around.....especially for a WR with one great year, coming off an ACL. Heckert stated the Eagles had serious interest in Walker, but GB wanted to keep him out of the NFC, and Denver had a higher 2nd round pick to offer. Anyone who thinks the Eagles should have given up a #1 pick for Walker is insane.
