H-O-G
I was under the impression that Jason Witten was a top 10 TE in the NFL, why did they use such an early pick on that TE from Notre Dame?

Goaldeje
Yeah, that struck me as a little weird, too. I would have thought they would have gone with O-line depth, or even a starter. But Tuna knows best .
diesel22
Bc Fasano looked the most like Mark Bavaro out of the people left on the board. No, not looked like him on game film, looked like him in his media head-shot.
stram22
This is the same team wanted Julius Jones over Stephen Jackson. Basically they aren't that bright.
H-O-G
I mean seriosuly, they had a lot of legit players available at #53. They could have done better than a backup TE, but I guess I have no reason to complain since we hate them anyways.
jrmooref
Because parcells is an idiot. I mean look at what they have done to that team in the last few years. They have nothing to build on. Julius Jones when they could of had Jackson. Bledsoe with Mr. never-was Henson to back him up. And nobody below the age of 55 on the offensive or defensive line. And of course, Mr Stability, TO. Not that I mind, cause I hate the brokebacks but they are going to have to do some serious rebuilding when Parcells realizes he's no Gibbs and retires...again...again. :dallasuck :dallasuck :dallasuck :dallasuck

stram22
Numbers aside I still think Jackson is and will be the better RB. Obviously you disagree. Of course you will. You'll also take Rock Cartwright's and Ladell Betts' numbers too. ?...Let's not get rediculous.

I was merely pointing out the facts. But I will agree with you that Jackson will probably end up with better career numbers when all is said and done. Jones has proven, thus far, to be too injury prone to pile up the numbers over a long career.
HowBoutThemBoys
I was under the impression that Jason Witten was a top 10 TE in the NFL, why did they use such an early pick on that TE from Notre Dame? The Cowboys needed another TE because they are switching to a 2 TE set this season and don't plan to use a FB or third WR much. They'll basically play most downs with 2 WR and 2 TE. I think it's a good move because the extra TE can either stay in and block, which probably improves their pass protection better than anyone they have now or could have drafted, or can go out on a pass route giving them 5 eligible receivers. Indy's been using this 2 TE/no FB set mixed in with their 3 WR set forever. Fosano also played in a similar offense to Dallas' in Notre Dame. It'll be interesting to see how well it works in Dallas. boobiemiles
Dallas gave up 50 sacks last year. They need O line help......on the other hand no the don't. The easier it is to sack Bledsoe the better. Thanks Jerry Jones. Bill Parcells is a lame duck caoch.
ImmortalDragon
I read that Dallas is switching the the 2 TE primary set. Basically getting rid of the fullback.
THEHEREAFTER
Because Dallas has 6 picks in the final four rounds after, not only addressing many needs through FA, but also starring at many great players STILL available day two. Also Jawarski called him the most complete TE in the draft. We'll see.
Ken
I read that Dallas is switching the the 2 TE primary set. Basically getting rid of the fullback. There you go.... Cowboys are looking to go more two te's. When you look at it that way, Fasano is a great pick. To me, he is a safer pick than Carpenter. I am very confident that Fasano will trasition nicely to the NFL. Carpenter has a tougher road, IMO. Though ultimately, i think both players will be good nfl players. Also Jawarski called him the most complete TE in the draft. We'll see. The Cowboys did a great job grabbing a couple of players (Fasano and Hatcher) after trading down to aquire more day two picks. We had a meager day two going in, now have a full boat to manuever anywhere we need to go. With the Scouting department shining last year, I have confidence they will do well today. McMetal
I wondered about this pick too. It just seems wasteful to draft a position where you already have an All-Pro guy who is in his prime. I don't care how many TE's you plan to put on the field. Grab a stiff out of FA and use the high picks to address immediate needs, like Safety or OL. Glad you guys are happy with the pick though. ZoEd
Yeah, that trade really looks awful right now.Equal numbers and we have Marcus Spears to boot. They aint too bright there in Dallas. Parcells knows nothing about drafting players. Even numbers? Jackson has more yds per carry, more receiving yds and had to share time with Faulk. JJ is the second coming of LT according to you brokebacks so it's pointless to argue with you about that. The good thing is while all of you hang your hat's on JJ being so great we continue to kick your asses.

I'm happy with the trade and I'm sure the Bills are too  Anyway, Dallas took a TE because they are switching to the Ace formation... 2 TEs that start rather than a fullback. I don't know why we didn't take Pope who's easily a better receiver, but from what I hear he wasn't a good enough blocker for Bill's liking. Either way, it wasn't a wasted pick. Now, Jason Hatcher in Round 3... DUMBASSES, KO SIMPSON WAS RIGHT THERE FOR THE TAKING... ARGH!
