How do you block the Eagles DL?

I've been itching for one Brodrick Bunkley for a few months now. When Cleveland selected Wimbley, I let out a yell that probably woke up my neighbors.

With the addition of "man beast", the Eagles now have a simply unblockable DL. The biggest weakness on the team last year was pass rush, effecting everything to include pass coverage.

Now, you have a potential starting lineup of:

DE Kearse

DT Patterson

DT Bunkley

DE Howard

Backups

DE Cole

DT Walker

DT Rayburn

DE McDougle

Fastballs all game long. Good luck, NFC East......the Eagles just fired a shot across the bow.

Pat Kirwan: It's an absolute perfect fit for a quick 4-3 defense. Teamed up with Mike Patterson, last year's No. 1 draft pick, they'll be impossible to block. Last year at Florida State, he had 25 TFL and nine sacks, which is a rare number of big plays for an inside lineman. I thought he would be gone by now. The Eagles are ecstatic they got him.

Our ability to quick screen, quick slant, run inside or outside, keep defenses very off balance with Saunders, and just generally protect the quarterback should serve us well.

Our tackles can go one on one with just about any DE tandem in the NFL and by the end of the season, the line was playing at an extremely high level.

I think Saunders will play a huge role because he is great at taking away a defense's strengths by keeping them off balance with his creative play calling.

But, that's still a really nice line for the Eagles. Go ahead and put Bledsoe on his back 10 times a game, please.

Santana Moss, Lloyd, and Randle El aren't fast enough to get open with Samuels, Jansen, Thomas, and company blocking at the line?

Ok...

You said that they would be open so fast that the DLine wouldn't even have a chance to get to Brunell. Unless you're running screens all day thats just not possible. Unless Moss and Co. all can go from 0 to 60 in less than a second. Give me a break.

Moss is the only guy you listed who is "fast" considered to other NFL WRs.

No, Moss has elite speed, the other guys are certainly fast enough, especially when lined up against 2nd and 3rd CBs.

You're acting like Eagles opponents will be lining up against empty trash cans on the line of scrimmage.

Um, no, I said they would be open quickly enough and that our O-line should be up to the challenge. Meaning that an O-line that is a very formidable pass blocking unit should be able to give our QB enough time to find an open man.

Please try reading what I said before telling me what I said. Thanks.

whit, while I think ARE and Lloyd are good NFL WRs, they both have average speed, compared to other NFL WRs. Your argument was based off of their speed.

I don't think those guys have average speed, personally. I've seen both make plenty of plays that players of simply average speed could not make. Lloyd's combine 40 time is a big reason why he dropped to the third round, but he plays much faster on the field, when his QB is actually able to put the ball in his hand. Randle El does not have elite speed, but he's quick and shifty enough to create early separation against nickel CBs. At least that is my belief.

Neither of those guys have elite speed like Santana. That's obvious. But I think both are fast enough to get open against #2 and #3 CBs with a strong O-line blocking up front.
